Posted: 12 Aug 2012 09:55 AM PDT Many people like being surrounded by nice pictures with family and friends, with places they visited and so on. But the thing is when you want to display these pictures and some painting or artistic photos, you have to drill holes in the wall which can be very ugly if you decide to change the place of that picture. Also shelves can be very useful, but sometimes too wide for what you need. So a compromise solution, something in between is this Deep Picture Ledge that is very simple and looks very nice.
These are deep ledges, some smaller shelves that also have a lip on the edge. This lip keeps the displayed pictures and objects in place and secures them against falling down. This ledge has a solid hardwood construction and is easy to mount on the wall. It comes in three different sizes so that it can cover all your needs (2′, 3′ or 4′ length). You will have to assemble it by yourself once you get the package, but this is not hard at all. You can also choose whether you want the item to be in chocolate – stained veneer or white lacquer. The price will vary according to size between $35 and $55. The “On The Road” Bench by Stone Designs Posted: 12 Aug 2012 05:26 AM PDT Furniture is seen as a static element. When we decorate our homes, we first decide where the furniture should go, we place it there and we rarely change its location. We even custom-design out furniture to fit our home so it would be impossible to change its location when it was made specifically for that area. Recently designers began to create modular furniture that could be easily moved around. So what if could also have a comfortable piece such as a bench that we could place wherever we want at a particular moment? The "On the road" bench is exactly that: a bench that can be put in any place we want without being installed as a static element. Its name reflects this idea in a condensed version. The bench was created by Stone Designs for RS Metal Games. Its design is very simple. It has nothing more and nothing less than what we really need. It features a wooden structure with four sleek legs and a comfy cushion.
The bench also features two elastic straps that stretch from the feet and were designed to to hold the cushion in place. The elastic straps also give the bench a sporty and original look, allowing it to gain personality while also maintaining its simple look. The bench is made with a cross-ply beech base and solid beech legs and the cushion is filled with a mix of natural and synthetic fibers. Posted: 12 Aug 2012 02:13 AM PDT Anna Stepankova is a designer still in her studying years; this little thing didn't stop her to create beautiful things of great value. If you look at her creation from all the angles you will see that everything is very fluid and carefully put together so the final product will have a distinctive look with a smooth flow.Anna was inspired by an old Japanese technique that works with veneer called Bunaco. This thing offers the possibility of creating shapes that are rather unnatural for these types of materials. According to her declarations and interviews she loves making things with her hands and experimenting with wood. This desire along with the proper technique made possible this wonderful dinning chair. More deep implication can be discovered from this concept and philosophy. The care for nature for instance is also part of her concept; responsibility towards the environment should be taken serious by know and we have to be more aware of the life cycle of every product. Veneer is a material made of very thin slices of wood glued together into resistant and durable boards. Therefore you don't have to cut a whole tree to make a chair and a table, a few bits of leftover wood can be transformed into something with a great emotional and visual impact.
What do you think of this chair? Does it look good? Is it comfortable enough? I'm asking you because to me chairs are chairs and although this looks very good and smooth I can't just used it just to admire it. The rough appeal of the industrial Turner stool Posted: 11 Aug 2012 09:12 PM PDT A piece of furniture, in this case a stool, can be charming in many different ways. Each style has its own ways of making itself enjoyable. For example, the turner stool doesn't have the delicacy and elegance of classical or traditional furniture but it manages to impress through other means. The Turner stool features an industrial-chic design. It has a simple look, with no unnecessary details and yet it's not contemporary. It has a vintage appeal as well as this makes it unique. The stool is also quite versatile. Given its construction, it can be sued as a bar stool or as a desk seat or dining stool. It's been crafted from tubular metal sheets and it features an oxidized metal finish that only enhances its unique charm. It's made using metal sheets and oval tubes and its height can be adjusted, making it versatile and able to adapt to different environments and situations.
The overall dimensions of the Turner stool are 13″Wx13″Dx18″H. The seat has variable dimensions, from 18″H–24″H to 24″H–30″H, suitable for counters and, respectively, for bars. The seat is not removable. The stool also features black plastic floor glides. It's made in the Philippines and it can be purchased at the price of EUR 171.52. Its industrial appeal is intriguing but it also makes the chair more difficult to adapt to other types of decors.
