The bold Jet Blue offices by HLW International Posted: 01 Jul 2012 09:50 AM PDT JetBlue Airlines has let us take a peek at the inside of their offices. These are the JetBlue Offices, a series of spaces that managed to capture the essence of the company's background and area of expertise and transform it into an image of these elements. The offices were designed by HLW International. The design for this impressive space combines elements of the company's award-winning terminal 5 and the historic Saarinen Terminal at JfK. These already very appreciated elements were transposed into this new design and, as expected, the results were again inspiring. As you can see for yourselves, the interior of the offices features many soft and very expressive curves. They are symbols of the aerodynamic curve of an aircraft and an element that captures the essence of the whole company.
To take this metaphor even further, the designers also incorporated the colors white and blue into the décor. The offices feature a series of large and bright communal spaces with large scale branded walls. These areas in particular also feature bold pops of colors, in particular orange and green. There are polished white floors throughout with variations of grey. The work areas are less colorful but follow the same main lines in terms of décor. The bold graphics are a common feature, the same as the minimalist furniture and the company's brand colors. Posted: 01 Jul 2012 09:49 AM PDT People have always been connected to nature and depended on it to survive. But now they have become a bit more independent and estranged from it, but probably the special link with the wild animals and plants are imprinted in our DNA because I can see all children are fascinated by them. We now live in towns and cities and we rarely come across wild animals, but children read stories about them and see them at the zoo, so they keep on being fascinated by them. That is why many manufacturers of kids stuff like bedding, clothes or toys studied them and used animal patterns on their products. This Paddy Fox Cushion is kids’ favourite and they simply love it . The cushion not only has a fox print on it, but it is shaped like a fox head. This way the children can show their affection to the animal by hugging the cushion and can use it to turn their room into a forest or whatever they imagine. The cushion is soft and comfortable and is made of natural fabrics. The dyes used for the cushion are non toxic and perfectly safe for your kid. The funny cushion that is shaped like a fox head is now available on Urban Outfitters for €34.00. Charming stone cottage hidden among tree ferns Posted: 01 Jul 2012 08:10 AM PDT This is the Yurramie cottage, a quiet and charming weekend retreat located near Sydney, in the Pittwater area. The cottage is small but very beautiful. It's hidden among tree ferns and gum trees and it's the perfect getaway place for these owners. It's a very peaceful place, very private but also close to the beach. The cottage was originally built in the 1920s. It was as simple and beautiful as it is now. Over the years, the owners renovated and updated the cottage but tried to preserve its charm and character as much as possible. The materials used were very similar to those originally used to build the cottage and, even though the interior décor changed and got modernized, it's still very simple and close to its roots. The cottage is very small and only has one bedroom. It's the type of getaway place that you only want to share with you loved one for a romantic weekend.
What's interesting is that, even though the cottage is completely hidden among the trees and the beautiful vegetation surrounding it, it also offers wonderful views across the Great Mackerel Beach valley. The sandy beach is just five minutes away from it. Since the cottage is surrounded by vegetation, it's also a refreshing getaway. The stone walls further keep the interior nice and cool thus making this place feel like heaven in comparison with the hot Australian summer temperatures that everyone else has to face.Listed for 795,000$. Posted: 01 Jul 2012 07:14 AM PDT When redecorating, very few people dare to try something completely new. The owners of this kitchen decided to go all white. It's a color that has both good and bad points and it all depends on the way the person perceives it. For some people it seems fresh, calm and peaceful white for others it's boring and monotone. Going from a relatively dark décor to an all-white look is a very daring move. After the renovation, this kitchen got lighter wooden floors and an all-white décor, including the walls, the ceiling, the furniture and even the decorations. The atmosphere instantly became airy and bright. The renovation was completed in 4 weeks but the design was created in 2 months. The budget was $35,000. The kitchen got new wood cabinets that match some of the existing ones, new wooden floors, new lighting, new counters, a custom-built pantry and a custom marble breakfast table.
The ceiling and the white were repainted and got a crisp white look. The kitchen was also reconfigured and got a more functional arrangement and a simpler décor. It actually seems larger. It's brighter and more airy. The change was major and the kitchen is almost unrecognizable. Very few elements were preserved from the original décor. It's a fresh start with a fresh décor. The kitchen is now like a peaceful sanctuary and it actually look very inviting.{found on designsponge}. Posted: 01 Jul 2012 06:20 AM PDT My son is crazy about animals, so he has a whole collection of toy animals that he spreads around the house in every imaginable place. And when I wake up early in the morning I sometimes step on them and I feel the fangs, horns or whatever sharp ends they have and I only wish someone could find a useful meaning to them when the kids are bored of them and end up in a shoe box in the garage. Apparently somebody did think of this and came up with a pretty interesting idea: to use half of these plastic toy animals and stick them to a piece of wood or board and turn this into a Funny animal rack for jewels.
The point of this item is to be used for storing jewels. I know there are jewel boxes for this, but I hate the fact that all my necklaces and long earrings get mixed up in this box, so I’d rather have some gadget that can store all my jewelry in plain sight, each on a different rack. That’s the point. Each animal head, trunk, horn or ear is used to hand a ring a necklace , a bracelet or something like this. I love this item. It is hand made by a Brooklyn artist called Steph Mantis and you can order it in black walnut or yellow pine for $56. The Bank of America Tower by Cook + Fox Architects Posted: 01 Jul 2012 12:32 AM PDT The Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park in midtown New York is not just an impressive building in terms of size but also a project that set new standards for commercial constructions and office-related environments. This tower was actually the first commercial high-rise to achieve LEED Platinum certification, after that becoming a new model for the rest of the buildings to be constructed. In an effort to redefine and reinvent the way commercial buildings are designed, the architects working at this project planned the tower more as a glass box than as a cold and compact structure. This way the connection to the outdoors is taken to a whole new level. The light can easily get through the glass walls and the interior is very bright and airy. The tower has 55 levels. It was a 2.2 million square foot project and a fresh and modern addition to the area. It's a natural addition to the existing architectural context.
The Bank of America Tower was a project by Cook + Fox Architects. It might seem like a typical cold office building but it's in fact a very fresh structure. It has green roofs and an Urban Garden Room that brings the outdoors in. Moreover, the glass walls provide lots of natural light, making the atmosphere airy and pleasant. The tower has been insulated using sustainable materials. Also, the curtain wall is made of low-e glass and heat-reflecting ceramic frit. The architects also implemented a series of water-saving measures when planning the buildings. They included waterless urinals and greywater recycling and rainwater harvesting systems into the design. The project was completed in May 2010.{found on archdaily}. Posted: 30 Jun 2012 12:12 PM PDT Shields were first used to protect the life of their bearers in the battle and after that their shape was used to express nobility and belonging to a noble and rich old family. But now the shield can be used as anything, even as a special shape for a mirror. This is the Shield Mirror from Jason Home and it is at least interesting. It has an unusual design, with a shield shape and natural horns on the side of the frame, which makes it a bit scary, especially for the families with small children who see potential hazards everywhere. But I must admit I like it. However, I think this kind of mirror is more appropriate for a hunter’s cabin or something like that, as I find it really masculine and sending a message of power. The item is interesting, but also serves as a normal mirror, so you can check your appearance in it when you get out of the house, even though I can’t really picture a woman applying make up while looking at her face in this mirror. This home accessory leaves a strong impression on any person seeing it, that is why I think it should be placed in a visible spot, somewhere in the hallway maybe. Due to the natural components of the mirror, you will have to wait for a while after ordering it online for a substantial price of $3,995.00.
