The first furniture items was carved in stone and after that wood was used for many years. Actually wood still is the favorite material of furniture manufacturers, but since we live in a modern age where technology is very much advanced, it is only natural to have access to all kinds of other materials than the natural ones. So once people invented plastic and synthetic materials, they opened the door for their use in different fields such as furniture manufacturing. This is how the guys from Room Service designed and made the Pisa Fiberglass Chair.

As you probably inferred, this chair is made of fiberglass, which makes it an interesting, resistant and also pretty cool and modern object that you can use in your home. It looks like a bit of a combination between a chair and an armchair, but the most defining feature is its attached “hood”.

It comes as a continuation or appendix of the chair and looks very futuristic. It is not glued to the chair, but can protect you from the sun if you are outside. It looks like a nest and gives you a feeling of safety, while the whiteness that surrounds you makes it perfect for summer. Its dimensions are: 66″ tall 25.5 wide 34″ deep 18″ seat depth 18.5″ flr to seat . You can have it for $1,995.

The sun is up, so I simply can’t stay indoors, especially at the weekend when i am free. I look for a place to go and i usually find out pretty easily : I go to my sister’s who lives in a house with a small but very pretty and welcoming garden, I go to the forest for a walk or a picnic or even go to the swimming pool to cool after a hot day in the sun. Well, all these places are perfect to visit in summer, but you need to find the right furniture for them, as lying in the sun or staying near the pool can get really messy for wooden furniture. Among the things that make our lives more beautiful, fireplaces definitely occupy an important position. The one in the picture is more than an ordinary fireplace; it belongs to the Globe collection, by the Sweden company Vauni. It is a flueless designed fireplace, unique, as it combines tradition with classic form in a modern interpretation. What else could you ask from a fireplace? It belongs to a special category, that of the elegant bio ethanol fireplaces, impossible not to impress even the most critical eye.

The fireplace in the picture not only looks good and combines tradition and modernity, but it has other important characteristics. For instance, it can be rotated 360 degrees for an optimal enjoyment and being designed by Markus Grip, it is available in two variations: cast iron with matt finish and polished black granite.

Papa Bear Ottoman

I found some old story books the other day and I was amazed to see some of the stories that made my childhood so nice and beautiful and I could also admire the pictures that stimulated my imagination go wild when reading those stories. Well, in one of these pictures I could see an ottoman and I remember I was sort of puzzled when i first saw this kind of unusual chair. It looked exactly like this Papa Bear Ottoman and it looked comfortable, but still unusual. Now I can tell this chair is an ottoman, but I still find it unusual.

I am talking about its shape, about the fact that it has a curved seating instead of a straight one. Its designer (Hans J. Wegner) went a bit further and added two handles on the sides in order to make it easy to transport. However, the seating is really comfortable thanks to the cushion that is included and the four thin and elegant legs make it look nice in any corner of the room. This particular ottoman has a hardwood frame and solid North American walnut legs, plus a colourful upholstery, available in lot of different colours. The Papa Bear Ottoman has been produced by Modernica since 1994 and can be purchased now for $650.

Renovated places can turn into so beautiful spaces that it is difficult to recognize them once they were transformed. It is also the case of a former warehouse that was renovated and the result is an ideal contemporary residence. The ones “responsible” for this amazing transformation are Buensalido Architects and the present house is a single storey home in Philippines.

The focus was the open pre-existing courtyard from the middle of the house. Using glass skylights above the courtyard, it became part of the interior spaces that can be used as an extension of the living and dining areas, but which gives that unique feeling of being in an outdoor space.

The result is such a success that you no longer want to leave.The atmosphere is inviting and pleasant and the warm light bathes everything around, providing a serene air to the entire space. All the rooms are wide – open, with modern furniture, with vases of flowers that animate and give color to the place.

No matter where you find yourself, there is a permanent mood that makes you feel at ease and like everything around, no matter it is a painting on the wall, a statue on a bookshelf, the colorful clock or a piece of furniture or the stone covered space. Every little thing contributes to make the entire environment more attractive, every decorative object adds a plus of personality to the house and the general feeling is a very special one, of a contemporary comfortable house.

I normally do all the things I have to do without complaining but there is one thing I truly hate and this is washing the dishes by hand every day. It takes forever to wash all the dirty dishes from a family of four every single day and exactly when you think you have just finished the job, you find some more dishes to wash. It is a real ordeal for me. That is why my true wish is to buy a dishwasher. And not just any dishwasher, but a good one – like this Bosch Dishwasher for example.
