Industrial table with glass top Posted: 05 Jun 2012 10:02 AM PDT Glass is normally used for windows and for other similar things. You wouldn’t expect to see a glass table, but everything is possible and glass tables are actually very beautiful. I have one at home and I’m telling you it looks really nice. You use it as a normal table or a coffee table and you can see the carpet at the same time. It’s rather unusual to see through the table you eat on. This Industrial table with glass top is great and it only comes to illustrate my words.
People can get really creative and in this case they turned an industrial support for glass while it was cut into a real industrial table. It looks great and it feels great, as it is bit and impressive and also fragile at first look, since it is made of glass. But this particular glass table top is really thick (¾”) and made of tempered glass, which makes it safe for people. The table reproduces factory fittings and is artisan crafted with lots of care. The glass top and the metal support are hand crafted and hand finished and that makes each item unique. The tables are available in two sizes (72″ and 92″) and that is why the prices varies between $2295 – $2595. Adults do not have too many expectations from you and since you are a kid , you are supposed to play. Well, kids nowadays have a wide range of toys to choose from and usually their parents can’t helping buying more and more toys, so in the end the kids’ room will be filled with them. So how come the parents expect this room to be clean and everything in order? Well, thank God for the storage furniture that makes it easy for all parties. For example this Two Shelf Kids Storage Furniture is a must in the kids room, as it is really useful and it does not take too much space.

Posted: 05 Jun 2012 08:28 AM PDT When you design something meant to be used by kids you have to pay attention to the appearance and appeal. Kids need to perceive these items as friendly and fun in order to like them and to use them. With some object it's easier while with other it's a little more complex. There is a category of objects that is so common that there aren't any distinctions between the ones used by adults and by kids. For example, the hangers. They are basically the same for everyone. In this case you have the opportunity to be creative and to come up with a colorful design for your kids. In order to transform a regular hanger into something that kids would love all you need is some paint, adhesive and decorations. These may differ from person to person. If you want to make sure your kid will love the hanger you make you can include him or her in the design project. This way they can actively participate, they can have fun, see how it's done and then appreciate them more. Now let's see some ideas. First of all you'll need some regular hangers. Then you can choose the color and this differs for each kid. Girls usually like pink and red while boys prefer blue. It's best to make this decision together with your kid.
Once you have painted the hanger there are numerous possibilities. You can either use fabric to wrap the hangers or use all sorts of decorations such as pompons, plastic stars, etc. You need to take the hook out and insert some colorful details, maybe glue them directly to the hanger or come up with a different idea. Then out the hook back. An easier alternative would be to just paint the hangers. In either situation, don't forget to ask an expert's opinion and that would be your kid.{found on pysselbolaget}. Make A Cold Basement Look Attractive Posted: 05 Jun 2012 07:24 AM PDT Is your basement all cluttered up with boxes of old items you don't need? Planning to rent out your basement suit? Tired of your basement looking like an old laundry.Surely nobody likes the sight of gray and gloomy walls with exposed piping and wiring in all directions. It will take work to make a finished basement, but the rewards are worth it. Ceiling And Wall Cladding. Don't want the usual lame drywall look? Go for wood panelling for ceilings and walls to really give it the upper floor or living room look. Who said it has to be too basic? Just remember to first waterproof and sheathe the foundation walls before applying any panelling so the concrete will not be exposed. Although not very common in basements, wooden panels could be an excellent finish for your basement, good for acoustics and give an impressive artistic pattern of wood.
Flooring. I highly recommend hardwood flooring. Most would think this is crazy idea as the floor would be cold, but it's more economical than carpeting anytime. If you want any carpets, just lay down area rugs. Make the floor finishing in contrasting color with the walls but make them match the wood panelling in the ceiling. Proper Lighting. Basements usually have the least lighting outlets available. But ceiling light outlets are more common. Install a pair of track lights parallel with each other and perpendicular to the length of the basement for equal lighting to reach everywhere. Use Your Old Storage Items. You stored away all those old items for a reason. Now, you can use them on display for a reason. Hang up shelves at staggering heights around the perimeter of the basement. It may look somewhat funny, but it's quite inventive. Window Blinds. Instead of those tarnished metal blinds that make the walls and windows look cheap, hang up the thick wooden blinds. Basements hold more humidity than other floors, and wooden blinds would help reduce that effect. To distinguish them, use a contrasting color with the walls to be picked up by the ceiling and floor color. The idea is to catch the eye with matching colors within its field of vision, so from a distance it would look just the right size. Some of these strategies are simple and some take more work. But if you want an attractive looking basement, it's worth the shot.{picture sources:1,2,3,4 and 5}. Hell of the North, a simple, intimate place in Melbourne Posted: 05 Jun 2012 06:07 AM PDT The intention of most restaurants is to establish a relationship between the dining spaces and what is consumed within them. “Hell of the North“, a restaurant – bar in Melbourne,Australia can definitely be included into this category. Designed by SMLWRLD architects, the restaurant was crafted into and around an original 19 th century hotel and the result is the image of a French wine press, detailed timber expressions of gentle force and careful layering of color and depth of texture. The materials used provide the warmth of timber and burnished brass, but also blackened steel that modifies the Victorian industrial spirit. In an intimate atmosphere with connected dining spaces, the blue surfaces separate old from new and, at the same time, bring out the character and the history of the site. Every corner is well organized, no matter where you look, either at the bar or anywhere else, everything is perfectly arranged, there are even flowers and decorative plants.
A general air of simplicity and intimacy makes you feel welcome and at ease and this is among the most important aspects that anyone looks for when going to a restaurant. The wooden tables and chairs give a simple air to the environment and make everything attractive through this very simplicity. It is obvious that wood is the key element that gives character, intimacy and history, but also connects everything. The general impression is pleasant and attractive and the words characterizing the entire environment are wood, thus warmth. Posted: 05 Jun 2012 03:44 AM PDT I'm not going to lie – pink and teal have been a favorite color combination of mine since I was a child. I even requested pink and teal painted furniture as a kid, which I still have in storage for my own children someday. I think these colors are so popular because they are incredibly bright, energetic, and fun to put in a room. They are an especially great choice for the summer months because they are bold and cheerful, perfect for long summer days. We hope the photos below will inspire you to include these happy colors in your home, whether you paint a wall, reupholster old chairs, or purchase a few punchy vases or trays to include in your décor. Either way, you can't go wrong with a little added pink or teal in your home. See some examples below.
This room has such great character because it represents a mix of styles and patterns. The traditional bedspread provides a stark contrast to the almost retro 70's style bright rug. A deep teal mat on the framed picture above the bed provides a pop of color and coordinates well with the other accessories in the room. This sea inspired room features deep teal walls that give this room a dramatic appeal. The colorful pillows are filled with great tones including many neutrals. The hot pink coffee table is refreshing and helps to bring out the paint colors in the modern art on the wall. This room has paler tones of teal and pink that are represented in a unique stenciled wall and traditional floral pillows. Artsy lamps and accessories help to complete the look of this eclectic living room/office combination.{picture found here}. Another room with a light turquoise/teal accent is featured above. The pale pink walls and even pale lime green pillows provide a great backdrop for those cooler tones. Additionally, the dark color of the bed and the zebra rug help to ground the space and provide some contrast to the lighter colors. I love this room because it's filled with bold design choices like the unique mirrored wall art and the gorgeous reupholstered chairs. The deep teal color on the walls complements the hot pink curtains for a bright and fun look that's welcoming to come home to. Incorporating these colors into your home doesn't have to be as dramatic as painting an entire wall. As shown in this photo, you can purchase a few simple accessories like vases and flowers to bring color into your home. You can even mix styles like this designer, who placed traditional chairs with more contemporary accessories.{picture found here}. Ultimately, the pictures above show that pink and teal make a great color combination because they are both bold, bright colors that fill a room with personality. Whether you incorporate these colors a little or even a great deal, you won't be disappointed to wake up and see these in your home. Classic tradition into a contemporary wall shelf Posted: 05 Jun 2012 02:42 AM PDT I live in an old apartment where vintage things appear at every step. The old pieces of furniture, the use of some old decorative items, the vintage paintings on the walls or even the presence of some black and white family paintings on the walls remind me of my grandparents' house where I could see all these things. Actually, it is a normal thing to see all these, as it is my mother-in-law's apartment who is about the same age as my grandparents. They are the same generation and share almost the same mentality and things that they have lived this period of time. Beerd van Stokkum seems an admirer of these old things and tried to keep them fresh but in a contemporary manner. So, he used the design of a vintage lace and made an interesting "Granny" Wall Shelf. Steel is the material used for this product which offers it a lot of strength and durability. Its length of 85 cm and a depth of 22.5 cm allow you to put many things on it although may be heavy.
"Granny" is also an elegant shelf, available in black and white nuances. It can be used in any of your rooms like bedroom, kitchen or even bathroom, according to your needs. You can put your books, vases, pictures or cosmetics. Its vintage design will always remind you of your grandmother and the vintage things that were fashionable when she was young. It can also make you think of your childhood and the beautiful moments that you spent near your grandparents or in your grandparents' house. Organization Tips for the Office Posted: 05 Jun 2012 01:20 AM PDT The office tends to be one of those rooms that no matter what you do, always seems out of place and unorganized. Regardless of what purposes you actually use your office for, whether you work from home or simply use it for storing important documents and books, whether you have an entire room dedicated as the office or only the corner space in a room, it is always important to reduce clutter and chaos wherever possible, enhancing the functionality and efficiency of your home office. Get Sorted Unless you sort through your stuff, you are not going to make it very far in terms of clearing out and clearing up your office space. Start with the desk, if you have one, updating your files and getting rid of anything you don't need. If you're like the average person, chances are your desk started off clean and over time has slowly but surely turned into a wooden structure covered in papers and files.
Get Real You don't have to be classified as a hoarder to have a problem getting rid of things when you don't need them anymore. This can be especially hard when it comes to an office, because who really knows when you can feel safe tossing out those documents you were once told to hang on to? Typically, in terms of financial records and other documents such as outdated warranties, canceled checks, annual reports from stocks, and credit card statements, you can feel safe throwing these away (don't forget to shred them first to prevent others from accessing your personal information) anytime. Get Digital With the technologically-advanced world we live in today, there is simply no reason to have a ton of papers lying around. Scan your important documents onto a CD to free up space and make it easier on yourself for search purposes. Instead of sifting through piles of papers, you simply slip in the CD and a couple of clicks later, you've got what you need. With these organization tips for the office, even the most cluttered, crazy office space can be transformed. Staying organized and clutter-free in the office helps you stay on track and efficient where it matters, instead of making you want to just walk on by when you see the mess inside.{picture sources:1,2,3 and 4}. Inspiring New York home built from a ship Posted: 05 Jun 2012 12:43 AM PDT Many houses have a rich history behind and very interesting stories to tell. However, some of those stories are more intriguing than others. For this New York cottage, it all started with a schooner. The house belongs to Chris Mead and Zoe Hoare. They are both antique dealers and they opted for a more unusual approach when they chose their home. They opted for a salvaged schooner that was turned into a wonderful home. The house is indeed unique. It was originally built in 1748 so there's a lot of history behind. Its age is visible in some of the details such as the slightly curved timbers. The house is very old and the fact that it was built from a ship makes it unconventional. It's the perfect environment for its current owners. They made some changes such as removing the plaster between some rafters in order to let the light get through and they restored the whole structure but the essence of the house and its original charm have been preserved.
The living room is very charming. It features a sea-themed tableau that reflects the house's origin. As for the furniture, there are some very beautiful antique French chairs and a reproduction washing table that is used as a display piece for some lovely decorations. On the first floor, part of the ceiling was knocked down thus creating a large space. It has white walls, comfortable sofas and a 19th century Chinese coffee table that brings everything together. The kitchen is very clean and simple. All the unnecessary elements were removed from the design, leaving only the essential pieces. A simple shelf holds all sorts of containers and jars and allows the kitchen to be an organized and inviting space. The master bedroom also reflects the owners' love for antique pieces. Here, a 1940s Gustavian bench is the main element of the reading nook. This space is completed with a pastoral landscape from the 19th century and a wooden reproduction urn relief. Everywhere you look there's something simple complemented by a beautiful antique piece. There are also many elements that reflect the house's history and origin and there's a very nice and subtle touch of modern that brings this house into the 21st century while still allowing it to keep its charm.{found on countryliving}.
