Modern Willow Rug Made from Wool

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 10:18 AM PDT

If you ever bothered to look at a child that draws, you certainly enjoyed every single second of this activity because they are so focused and serious when doing this, that it is a delight witnessing it. When they draw circles for example, they do not make them perfect and sometimes they overlap some circles, but the result is still very much beautiful and personal, as it shows their individual features, instead of being perfect. Besides, perfect is boring when it comes to kids. Well, this is the feeling I get when I look at this Modern Willow Rug Made from Wool. Its interesting design looks like a child’s drawing with imperfect circles overlapping each other and an interesting combination of colours.

This rug is soft and comfortable and is made of fine wool. It has a smooth finish and looks pretty great. The modern pattern makes it perfect for any kind of home and the childish pattern makes it perfect for any home, with or without children. You can place it in the living room and it will emphasize the comfort and welcoming air of your living room, giving it a nice feature. The rug is hand tufted and can be purchased for $799.00 from Room&Board.

Plywood Coffee Table

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 09:49 AM PDT

I remember that I learned in the History lessons one very interesting thing that still applies to many fields nowadays: during the Renaissance all scientists and artists turned their faces back to the old things they used to treasure and valued them once again. My idea is that this is happening as we speak, that more and more artists get their inspiration from the past, from times long gone. For example this   Eames Plywood Coffee Table is very popular these days, even though it was designed back in 1946. Actually the Herman Miller company has been manufacturing and selling it for the last fifty years, but it has never been as popular as it is now.

The table is obviously made of plywood and is simple in design. It is compact and lightly scaled, a coffee table with personality and style, a piece of furniture that would find its place in a traditional home, but also in a modern living room. The four curved legs come attached to the table top and give it stability. The coffee table is made of ash, walnut, or cherry veneer on a maple ply. This beautiful and stylish item is now available on DWR for just $806.65.

Interior Designer Alexis Hadjopulos’ Glass House

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 08:09 AM PDT

Glass is a material which shows elegance, modernity and style. Architects and designers seem to appreciate all these qualities and use it as a main material for building houses too. Thus, modern glass houses appeared to be preferred by many people although sometimes the transparency of glass may affect the owners' privacy.

Alexis Hadjopulos is a furniture shop owner and interior designer who is also the owner of a modern glass house is one of these people that love the elegance of glass and has decorated his own home in an original way. He tried to bring a personal touch to each space of the house, to create comfortable and pleasant areas which could offer him the ambiance and living conditions that he has always dreamed at.

As a contemporary house imposes itself through elegance and refined style, its design may look a little bit too official. Alexis Hadjopulos tried to bring some special items which could animate each area of the house and represent him in a certain way. Thus the silver pig that sits near the white piano, the huge white chair, the "customer service" letters in the bedroom or the graffiti chalkboard wall under the stairs are just some examples which can help you create an idea of the owner's personality and the style of the house.

There are also used many DIY objects which are part of the owner's preferences and tastes. He claims to be a person who loves the presence of practical, pleasant, personal and useful things in a house and he encourages the others to use them too, instead of those useless things that take a lot of space from the area of a house.{found on apartmentterapy}.

DIY Kids Art Center

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 05:46 AM PDT

Everybody knows that kids love to be appreciated for their acts and each time you have the opportunity to do such a thing you should not miss it. They need to be encouraged to do things, guided to discover new things and discover their special abilities or talents and create a place of their own where they can express all their creativity and preferences.

Thus, for those of you who have kids all these things can be very important. A special place for them where you can watch them too may be very nice for each of you. You can find an empty and unused area and transform it into a Kids Art Center where they can draw or paint and then exhibit their works on the wall. At the same time you get an attractive space which once was so dull and empty.

Two cheap coffee tables, two poufs, some frames for the art works, many pencils that you can put into an old Ikea planter, a funny lamp, some glass votives and some scrap pieces of wood to make some art hangers are the main materials that will help you get an excellent place where your kids could create peacefully and you will be happy and proud to admire their art works exhibited here.

They will also be overwhelmed by the importance you offer them and will win more confidence in their own forces and will feel proud of their creations. It is important to create special places for kids as they need to be watched all the time and the place needs to be attractive and fun in order to make them feel comfortable and attract them.{found on ourfithhouse}.

Tiny apartment with an ingenious storage solution

Posted: 03 Jun 2012 01:06 AM PDT

In a small apartment such as this one, the biggest challenge is to make all the furniture you need fit inside the rooms while also managing to create an airy décor. In the bedroom, the biggest challenge is the bed. It's difficult to have anything else in the room when the bed occupied almost all the floor space. In this tiny apartment, the owners came up with an ingenious solution for that problem.

The apartment measures only 36 square meters. However, it has a very bright and airy décor. All the rooms presented challenges. For the bedroom, the solution was very simple. Here, the bed is hidden in a closet. It's the same idea like in the movies but better. This way the bed is there but it's practically invisible during the day. It's because it's hidden inside a very simple closet. The floor space that the bed normally occupies can be used for something else during the day. The room becomes drastically more spacious and airy.

In the case of this apartment the solution the owners found is even more practical since there's one large, L-shaped room that serves as kitchen, living room, bedroom and study. It's a large shared space with a simple and bright décor. The large bedroom bed can be easily hidden in a cupboard that is perfectly integrated in the décor. The cupboard is white, the same as the wall behind it, and it almost becomes one and the same with it.{found on site}.

Cozy Color Duo: Brown & Blue

Posted: 02 Jun 2012 02:30 PM PDT

Brown and blue are both classic and traditional colors that work well in a variety of spaces and places. They can provide cool tones and a calming ambiance or can add a jolt of energy and color to a room. Either way, when used together, these colors can be highly successful. Below, I've gathered several rooms that incorporate these colors especially well from a striped kid's room to a colorful urban kitchen. Check them out below, and you'll see what I mean.

This home office has great design appeal for many reasons. First, it works well with many tastes, as elements like the light fixtures are true hallmarks of classic design. Next, the cool tones in the room including the blue wall create a soothing effect. Lastly, the rich brown desk grounds the space. Oh, and you can't forget about the incredible exposed beams that finish off the room.

This eclectic urban kitchen is bright, fun, and happy. A large part of that ambiance comes from the colorful tile on the walls, which incorporate brown, blue, and several other neutral tones. The blue accessories like the pitcher and chair help to add color to the room, while the brown cabinets help bring out the brown tones in the tile. Add some personality to any space with a fun chair like the one pictured here.{picture from here}.

This contemporary bathroom features an incredibly unique blue sink that sits atop the rich, dark wood vanity like a crisp, blue flower. There is also a wood accent wall that the mirror hangs on, which allows the bright blue sink to pop off of it. Other accessories in the room complement this color combination as well like the blue towels and blue vase.{picture from here}.

This incredible kid's bedroom features a gorgeous striped wall full of rich blue and brown tones that are carried through to the large light brown zebra area rug. These colors also come out on the carefully selected accent pillows on the sofa as well as throughout other accessories in the room.{picture from here}.

This room is extremely well designed. The lacquered wall is especially stunning, as are the chic, light blue chairs. The colors and artwork are carefully selected like the modern art above the fireplace and the soft geometric pattern on the rug. Ultimately, this room is a prime example of how well these colors work together.

This is definitely a space any teenager or young adult would love for its fun vibe that is easily felt by looking at the bright blue chaise lounge and the fun hand rug on the floor. Thick brown valences finish off the space and make it feel more upscale.{picture from here}.

Ultimately, these rooms show that brown and blue are an incredible color combination that can be used in a variety of different spaces from kitchens to bedrooms to bathrooms. We hope you feel inspired to incorporate these fun colors into your home. Go off, get inspired, and design away!
