Three conference chairs we like Posted: 30 May 2012 08:07 AM PDT We all need furniture pieces in general and chairs in particular, no matter if we use them at home, at the office or somewhere else. Today we look at conference chairs. How should they be? Well, it depends on many things. Among the aspects that should be taken into consideration when we choose conference chairs for meeting rooms, there are: the height adjustment, mobility, profile and not last shape and color. I limit myself at three conference chairs that I like best. The first chair that drew my attention is the Cobi Chair, through its white outline with bright, bold color and seat back. It has an interesting design, it is small and slight and it seems to be quite comfortable. Therefore, for $439 you can choose one of the most youthful chairs if you look at its color, style and freshness. Another good example of smart furniture that can be included into the same category is the Bungie J – Arm office chair. For only $395, you have a comfortable piece of furniture with a unique design that not only looks good, but also is functional and adjustable in its inviting black form. The last conference chair is a red one and what can be better than the Kartell Moorea Armchair? For $830, you can have the perfect piece for home office, but not only. This plastic body fixed onto a chromed steel base seems to represent the idea of comfort, being full of color, light weight with its unimposing form. Each of my three choices can be a solution for any meeting room, it only depends on own preferences. New office and studio space in the heart of SoHo Posted: 30 May 2012 07:15 AM PDT Logan is a New York bicoastal production company that recently got a new office and studio. The space was designed by Brooklyn-based design firm SO-IL and it's located in New York, NY, USA. It's a project that covers a total area of 6,500 square meters and that was completed in 2012. The new office is situated in a corner loft space on the second floor of a landmarked building in SoHo. The office the team designed is very dynamic and modern and it's a space that encourages collaboration and team work. Given the fact that a large part of the company's team consists of a series of mobile consultants that join the team strictly for a particular project, the office had to be flexible and to allow easy reorganization. Each project is different and thus requires a different setting. The office has very little permanent spaces and personalized workstations. It's a very flexible space and you never know where you'll be sitting next.
The new office is divided into two identical volumes. They are symmetrical spaces and they have rectilinear shapes. Each area features a 65 foot long custom work table. It's an area that can accommodate working groups of any size. The shared desks can serve for many purposes and the rooms can be used for meetings, design, production, etc. In these volumes there are also private offices and meeting rooms. There are also three felt- wrapped sound-isolated editing suites. The central work areas are separated by floor-to-ceiling translucent fabric walls and they have stretched PVC luminous ceilings. Overall, this is a very simple but very flexible and modern office.{found on archdaily}. Saving space and playful bunk beds Posted: 30 May 2012 06:27 AM PDT Bunk beds are a very practical and functional element that most kids are familiar with. Kids need a lot of space to play and have fun. This means that their room shouldn't be filled with massive furniture and all sorts of storage units. It should be as simple as possible in order to give them the space they need. It's why bunk beds are so appreciated. They free up a lot of floor space while also being very functional. The S012 bunk bed is an especially interesting piece of furniture. It shares the same basic concepts and elements as most bunk beds but it adds a bold touch to the design. S012 is a wooden bunk bed and some of the wood's natural color is still visible in the frame. The rest, however, features a dynamic and bold green finish. It's a lovely color, very fresh and very vibrant. It's not overly tiresome for the eye and it's a wonderful shade usually associated with kids. There are different shades of green that have been combined and they look lovely together.
S012 is part of the Boxer Collection and it was designed for Dearkids. The collection also includes other similar furniture pieces for kids and not only. This particular bunk bed is a very functional piece of furniture. It's very comfortable and friendly-looking but it's also practical. It features a very functional storage space underneath the floor bed and a series of shelves for each bed. This way each kid will have its own space where he can place a favorite photo, a favorite toy, etc. It's a nice way of personalizing a shared space. Five Stylish Contemporary Bedroom Designs We Love Posted: 30 May 2012 05:44 AM PDT A very important part of our interior is the bedroom. Although we spend time here more unconscious than conscious the bedroom is very important because it represents the place where we recharge our batteries, therefore a pleasant design helps us getting the right interior balance. Let's take a look a five bedroom designs and observe the overall result. This first bedroom has a nice warm fell thanks to the shaggy rug and soft wall tones. The central piece is definitely the bed with a superb solid wood frame, each side made from a single solid log. The robust feel is tempered by the ultra comfortable mattress. Great open space, great floors and great color scheme, what's not to love?{found on site}.
This second bedroom design by Ian Engberg contrasts a little bit with the first one. As we can see this one features a low light environment with a darker color scheme, dark solid wood shades on the floor match the bed frame, curtains and bed sheets. The few light spots are focused towards a wall art piece. Also on the headboard there are two lamps pointed downwards highlighting the nightstands and the small storage space above; it's a bit tight but I like it! I don't know why but I find dark tones more calming that any other color palette chosen for a bedroom. This one features a lot of brownish shades highlighted by the walls and floor. A great outdoor terrace is attached to this bedroom design; this thing offers a great view towards the ocean and also lets the breeze in. I don't like the sofa though; neither the arm chairs but is purely subjective because I like a more "dedicated" bedroom.{found here}. Moving on to another bedroom design which was found on Bedroom world website we'll find an interesting feature: wood paneling. The boards are arranged horizontally on the entire surface of the walls. This not only looks good, but feels great as well. The bed has a marvelous curved headboard that continues the bed's wooden frame. Along with a modern lamp positioned strategically under the three pieces on the wall the interior feels airy and clean. Open space living solutions never were my thing, but I when I see more and more design solutions like this one I start to like them more and more. Behind the bed there is a nice wall "dressed up" in bright wooden strips that functions also as a room divider. The swinging-arm lamps are a very nice functional touch. I get and overall light feeling, very clean, simple and extremely stylish.Found on Lorin Hill site. DIY Household Hooks From Dead Tree Branches Posted: 30 May 2012 04:29 AM PDT There are people who love wood and working with this material became a real passion for them and people who have a job which request them to use wood for things thy have to create. Whether you refer to a person who has such a hobby or to a carpenter who must use wood for all his works, you will notice the same things in their houses. In both cases you will notice many and various things that they have made for their home even if it was a hobby or just the advantage of a certain job they had. Wooden flower pots, supports for flower pots, wardrobes, chairs, armchairs, and tables are just some items that can be noticed in their homes. Those who love wood and are also eco-friendly persons have always thought of different ideas how to recycle wood .One of these ideas refers to use tree branches as household hooks for hanging clothes, accessories, and many other things that need to be put on a hook.
Here are some examples of cases when different persons used some tree branches as real nice wall hooks of various types. Gabriel Rutledge is one of these persons, who uses a wooden board and some green maple twigs so that she could use it for arranging her jewelries. Another person is John Robohm whose Live Wire Farm use local hardwoods in order to produce various goods, even hooks. Graca Paz and Jack Pollner are other two persons who love raw materials and try to produce some original hook racks.{found on core77}. Cozy family home on the seashore Posted: 30 May 2012 03:11 AM PDT When you decide to build yourself a holiday home or retreat you either choose the mountain or the sea. There are two totally opposite destinations and they each have their charm. Here we have a lovely family home seating near the shoreline. It's surrounded by Pandarus trees and situated close to the rainforest and the sand dunes. There's a perfect balance between these environments and this house is right in the middle of it. The location of the house couldn't have been better. It's very close to the sea and you can even hear the water touching the sand but it's also situated at the right distance from the sea, where it's safe and where it's shady. The trees that are surrounding the sea provide shade and privacy while also creating a very beautiful environment. The house is quite spacious and has plenty of rooms. It has areas where one can go to relax and simply be there, rooms where you can feel safe inside but still be able to enjoy the outdoors and areas where you can just enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.
This is a casual but elegant home with beautiful indoor and outdoor areas. It also has a pool surrounded by pavilions and visible from inside. The house has large windows as well as a series of glass walls. They provide wonderful views of the surrounding areas and the sea. The interior is relatively simple and yet filled with all sorts of interesting details. It's casual but elegant and it's also very inviting and cozy.More details on site. Molletta Giant Clothes Pin Bench Posted: 29 May 2012 10:16 PM PDT I was given the opportunity to see a lot of thing in my life; I have experienced things from a very large domain but so far only a few things kept surprising me constantly; cosmos and design are some of them. Take this bench for instance; this sculptural piece of furniture was designed by Baldessary e Baldessari to look like a giant clothes pin made entirely from cedar. The two big parts were carefully carved in solid wood logs to replicate exactly the tiny object we used to play with when we were kids. I would consider this a bold design because first, I don't think that there is somewhere in the world a bench that looks like this one and second, I really didn't thought that this is doable, not to mention that I have never imagined that a wooden clothes pin can become at a more larger scale something that is equally useful and functional.
As much as I appreciate the marvelous design, this piece destined more towards looks than functionality; a normal long bench can have the same effect for those who sit, but the visual impact over the environment is more dramatic with this piece of furniture. After all if it wasn't for people's curiosity and desire to create something new we would still be surrounded by boxy things that look all the same. We were always on the quest for more comfort and for beauty, and when these two things are combined perfectly, the magic happens. How to get rid of Clutter in the Home Posted: 29 May 2012 08:00 PM PDT A clutter issue in the home can be a big problem. Not only does it give you more to clean up in general, but it leaves your house in disarray and can make you feel stressed and unorganized. Your home is your palace, and you should be happy and excited to go home at the end of the day. When the rooms are filled with clutter, the opposite is more often true. Fortunately, with a few simple tips you can de-clutter your home, for good. To get rid of clutter in your home once and for all, the first step is figuring out what to get rid of and what to keep. Take it one room at a time, to avoid overwhelming yourself and causing even more stress and frustration. Separate the items into three different piles: one for things you want to keep, one you can give away, and one to throw out.
As you start going through the clutter in a room, make sure you keep up your determination, and not just end up with one huge pile of things to keep. This isn't going to get you anywhere, so really only keep those things that are sentimental or otherwise are instrumental in the design of the room. All items should have a place in the room, and should play an important role in some way or another. Otherwise, there is no need to have them in there and you can get rid of them. You can't put things away if you don't have anywhere to put them, and this is what initially starts a clutter problem. If you find yourself unable to assign any item a place in the room, it can go. Include pieces in a room that do double duty. An ottoman with built-in storage or a table with hidden compartments can help create a place to put items that are just lying around, but that you want to keep in the room. That doesn't mean you should feel free to stuff every spare place full of clutter, because this means you are just avoiding the problem. You should never have more stuff than space, but pieces offering storage in your room means you can get the clutter off the counters and floors, creating a neat and tidy space. Take time to organize your room and save yourself space wherever possible. Scan all your paper documents then shred them, to save lots of space. Have a designated area in the home for dirty laundry, bath products, and animal items. Instead of getting frustrated by having so many things out of place, you get things organized and out of the way. Get rid of clutter in your home to get your house and your mind free and organized. Regardless of the reasons of clutter in your home in the first place, and no matter how much you've got to deal with, you can take that next step and de-clutter your home. After that it's just a matter of keeping your space clean and tidy, and avoiding getting back to the same situation you started in.{picture sources:1&2,3,4,5}.
