| Beautiful waterfront property on Mercer Island Posted: 22 May 2012 08:41 AM PDT Located at 6430 E Mercer Way, Mercer Island, Washington, United States, this estate is very impressive in more than one way. It's a luxurious property with a 5,500 square foot house and beautiful landscape. The property is currently on the market at the price of $6,280,000. The house was built in 2006 and, besides the building itself, the property also includes a 50' infinity pool and a large and very beautiful garden. This beautiful waterfront estate features a very impressive house. It includes 4 bedrooms, 4 full baths, a half bath and a gourmet kitchen. It has limestone flooring throughout and large windows on the ground floor that not only let in lots of natural light and create an airy and bright atmosphere, but also create a strong visual connection between the indoor and outdoor areas. The house also has an impressive foyer with a 30' tall ceiling.
The property is an impressive on the outside as it is on the inside. The design of the house is not particularly modern. It's a rather traditional design with a glamorous touch. The outdoor areas include a 50' infinity pool, a hot tub, an outdoor BBQ area, a private deck and, of course, a large garden with more than 4,000 plants in it. The ponds and granite terrace are also great areas to spend time in. This property is a real masterpiece. | Horizontal Stripes Painting Tips Posted: 22 May 2012 08:02 AM PDT Years pass and rooms may need a redecoration, repainting or you may get bored with the old painting of your room. Thus repainting becomes an absolutely necessary thing. This problem reminds me of the fact that I need to repaint my apartment too as there are five years since I have not done this thing. The paint is faded, there are places where it fell down or dirty spots that need to disappear. Still, first I need to think of the colors that I want to use and what kind of model I can use for its repainting. Horizontal stripes may be an option, especially if I want to get a dynamic effect and something interesting as design. In this case I need some materials like: two colors of paint, painter’s tape, drop cloth, level, ruler, pencil, roller and an angled paint brush. Now the only things that I need are some patience and a lot of time. As we refer to stripes, their painting will definitely take much time. They involve measurements and arrangements so that they appear straight, correct and look nice.
First of all, the wall needs to be painted if it is not already, then the marking of the first line is very important because according to its dimensions the other lines will be marked. The lines are taped, the edges are painted and then the rest of the intervals. After the paint is dried, the tape is removed. Contrast is obtained using a second color paint.Although this project involves a lot of time, attention and patience, your satisfaction will count more than them.{found on prettycitythings}. | Interior designer Leslie Landis mid-century studio in LA Posted: 22 May 2012 06:55 AM PDT This charming studio is located in Silver Lake — Los Angeles, California. It covers only an area of 300 square feet but it's enough for Leslie and her dog Raincheck that have been renting the place for 4 years. Leslie is an interior designer and managed to turn this studio into a very charming home. The studio is quite small but it's been beautifully decorated. The apartment is coy and inviting and the best part is that it also has a lovely outdoor dining area. It's the perfect place to either sit quietly and enjoy the scenery or to have fun with a few friends. Since Leslie is an interior designer, it was easy for her to decorate the apartment. She knew exactly what she likes and what she wanted to include in the design. She also knew how to combine everything and to create a harmonious and balanced look.
The main idea was to create a functional décor that would correspond to her way of living. Besides thinking of herself, Leslie also needed to take Raincheck into consideration. Together they created a décor that's both functional and beautiful. The interior of the apartment is chic and beautiful but it's also very comfortable. Having nice things is useless if you can't enjoy them. The apartment is modern with a touch of vintage. Some of the pieces are classical, others are rustic and others are modern but they all look beautiful together and they complement each other forming a personal style.{found on apartmentterapy}. | Fab Color Combo: Navy and White Posted: 22 May 2012 05:03 AM PDT I can't think of a more classic color combination than navy blue and white. It's so sleek and stylish that you really can't go wrong whether you wear it in fashion or decorate your home with these colors. Many people might be afraid of navy as a wall color, but the inspiration pictures below will show that a color as bold as navy can truly impact a room's overall appeal whether you paint the whole room navy or just grab a few simple accessories to add to the room. There are also many themes that can be adapted with these colors from a sailor/sea theme to a country pride theme. There are also numerous accent colors that go well with this combination such as orange, coral, and red. To get more great ideas on using navy and white, see the photos below. This gorgeous home seen on Vivid Hue Home features an incredibly bold and dark navy wall color that helps make the sleek white curtains pop off the wall. The room can get away with such a saturated wall color because of the high ceilings and numerous windows that let natural light in. Also, the rest of the world may be over the chevron theme, but I'm still obsessed.
This room has a relaxing, natural theme from the framed greenery to the cozy wicker chair. An especially great feature is the huge gallery wall. Take away this great tip: matching the mat in the frame to the wall color really makes a statement.{found on Indie Pretty Projects}. This room, shown by Jamie Herzlinger, has some incredible design features. Your eye is immediately drawn to the two round windows in the space that separate the living areas while still allowing light to flow through. The navy accent is carried through to the accessories and can even be found on the large striped rug. This stunning dining room seen on Yelp really chose a great wall color for a sophisticated look. The dark blue helps to draw attention to all the white accents in the room like the breezy curtains and the plush armchairs. This room has several great accessories that feature blue and white. First, the lamp is highly unusual and looks almost like a flower. Then, the china on the coffee table looks like an updated vintage pattern. Similar designs can be found on the pillows on the sofa, some which feature a different color on the back.{found on Conspicuous Style}. As evidenced by the above photos, navy and white are an easy and simple color combination to choose whether you prefer more traditional or more modern designs. You can always start slowly by buying a few pillows or maybe a great navy blue tray. You could also paint a side table or a coffee table or change out your drapes. If you're feeling really daring and inspired, break out the paint rollers for your wall. You wont regret choosing a combination that makes such a great impact. | Posted: 22 May 2012 03:42 AM PDT Cushions are very easy to find in stores. However, it's not the same thing as having a customized accessory that can make by yourself.Cushions are very easy to make and these particular ones only take 30 minutes to complete. Let's see what you can use for this project. You'll need a yard of fabric, 2 standard sized bed pillows, scissors, a ruler or measuring tape, a pencil, pins, 20'' of Velcro for each pillow, thread and a sewing machine. Start by folding the fabric in half lengthwise. Then measure and cut the fabric s that you get pieces measuring 41″ x 28 1/2″. Fold the edges that measure 41'' long over 1'' and then another inch. Pin, press and stitch the pieces in place. Then stitch the remaining sides together. You just need to leave a 20'' opening in the center. Next, adjust each corner to obtain a triangular point and stitch it. Now all you have to do is turn the cushion right side out and attach the Velcro.
Now it's time to connect the bed pillow to the cushion filling. First you need to cut along one long seam to open the side of the pillow. Measure and cut an equal number of 1″ x 4″ fringe on the cut edges of each pillow and tie these pieces together. Do the same thing for the pillow bottoms and the insert is ready to be placed into the cover. You can use any type of fabric you want for the pillows. However, it should be something comfortable and good-looking at the same time.{found on apartmenttherapy}. | Capri Mirror frame with TV unveiled at Milan Design Week Posted: 22 May 2012 02:26 AM PDT We showed you a few days ago mirrors that took advantage of the latest technology and computer interface, to become intelligent surfaces that could display a wide range of interesting gadgets working almost like an iPad or a smart phone. Similar to those mirrors this piece draws its inspiration from the Snow White story, where the evil queen had a magic mirror which was feeding her information. With the technological progress those exact things found in stories written a few hundred years ago can be manufactured. Jetclass designed the Capri frame with mirror TV. This piece was reviled in Milan at iSaloni and along the black or white finish that works as a mirror there is a flat-screen TV behind the glass. When the TV is off, that fine glass is a perfect clear mirror; when the TV is on, the powerful bright light passes through the glass and the picture is centered and crystal clear. Only a small portion around the TV works then as a mirror which is kind of wired at first sight.
As soon as you get used with, this luxury piece will work great in your bedroom, adding a tremendous amount of value to the interior not only because is hi-tech but because the entire ensemble looks very good, stylish and appreciated. It's price is around $13,500 and the 37" LED TV is included. | 4 Easy Ideas For Decorating With Potted Flowers Posted: 22 May 2012 01:00 AM PDT If you don’t have a green thumb; have no fear. You can still decorate your house with those pretty potted plants without having a full-fledged garden bursting with beautiful florals in the backyard. Flowers are a perfect way to bring life, color, surprise and organic, natural beauty into your home. So whether you are in need of some fresh decor for a dinner party, family get-together or just a quick makeover for a small space, or the entire home …. decorating with potted flowers is an easy fix for full-on drabness, a boring living room or a dull kitchen. And we certainly cannot forget that they improve the air quality in your home! 1. Brighten your table with Floral Centerpieces. I absolutely adore out-of-the-box centerpiece ideas. Books, vintage items found at a flea market or potted flowers are so much better than the usual, boring bowls filled with fruits. Because they’re just … well … boring. And you may think potted flowers are just a generic way of dressing up your table, but they’re not. Barely anyone takes the time to make it happen and it’s rarely seen at tables unless you’re attending a wedding. The best part is the creativity. You can do virtually any flower (for any season) and use any pot (color or design) you want!
2. Create welcoming whimsy on your front porch. When you do feel like throwing a dinner party or getting together with girlfriends do afternoon tea, creating a magical entryway to your home is a great way to wow your guests and liven up a boring front porch. You can buy what you like at a local store or re-locate some floral bushes and plants from another area you’ve cultivated. It’s easy and quick … and there’s absolutely no way it’ll go unnoticed! 3. Liven up a bare space. If you’re a minimalist but need some type of lively pop here or there, use a potted flower. It adds the naturalness of the home without being overpowering and ruining that simplistic feel. You can still be clean and simple, using neutral-colored flowers like blues or whites, while using the potted flowers to create a homier feeling rather than feeling stuck in an overly stark house. 4. Use potted flowers as home accessories. Whether on a bookshelf or a side table, potted flowers (big, small or medium) can be just as easily used as the usual decorative nick-knacks. They add a pop of color and surprise to anything needing a bit of life. Just remember to water your flowers and they’ll continue to brighten up the space.{picture sources:goodhousekeeping, greenweddingshoes and pinterest}. | Posted: 21 May 2012 11:24 PM PDT You and I are aware of the fact that most of the people we know live in apartments in big crowded cities. For that category of inhabitants there are entire divisions that plan how to make things smaller, or as compact as possible but to still offer the same amount of functionality. Some have more than others, but after all we are all equal and we deserve the same chances. With this way of thinking the problems through, Company and Company designed a ladder that can be folded to occupy a very tiny space behind a door or a closet and still could offer the same amount of functionality as regular one. As we can see in these pictures the ladder compacts into a smaller unit thanks to each rung that has special hinges that allow the outside portions to fold in towards each other. A brass joint passes through the center of each rung, reinforcing the place where the man could step. I like the design and I appreciate everything that helps people in a way or another but this ladder is not quite finished. I don't want to be mean, but from where I stand the ladder looks a little unsafe and I can't imagine this supporting a full scale adult that actually does some work in a place very hard to reach. With a little more research and creativity this space-saving ladder could totally work in a tight apartment. | Posted: 21 May 2012 10:55 PM PDT Mirrors are some of the most versatile items you can use for your interior décor. They don't really represent anything, they just reflect something that already exists and this makes them easily integrate in any type of décor. Mirrors are also a great decoration for small spaces. They really open up the space and make it seem bigger. Mirrors are also adaptable and adjustable decorations and they can be used in many different ways. Today we're going to show you how to make a honeycomb mirror for your home. This particular mirror decoration was placed against a wood pallet. Palettes are very easy to find and they are very useful and can be turned into almost anything you want. The pallet itself was a beautiful decoration for the mantle. However, a mirror made things even better. This honeycomb pattern was created with the help of several hexagonal mirrors. First a cardboard shape was cut out. The mirrors were bought as such so they didn't need to be cut or reshaped.
The cardboard served as a great base for the mirrors. The mirrors were carefully attached to the cardboard one by one until the honeycomb was complete. In this case, the mirrors were two-tones. There were two different shades: amber and silver. The colors were alternated and the result was a chic mirror decoration to be placed on the pallet. Now the mantel is a focal point for the room.{found on lovingls}. | Aether Beach Folding Table and Chairs Posted: 21 May 2012 10:00 PM PDT Summer is almost here and we are already making plans to spend some time at the beach. Getting the perfect tan might not be as simple as you think, especially if you go on a remote place and you will have to bring your own "furniture". Most of the people pack towels, a lot of protective lotion, a portable music player or a good book and refreshments. For those who look at the time spent on the beach from a more sophisticated point of view; people who won't settle for the things mentioned above and want something else there is furniture. Since I was I child I have learned that this type of furniture isn't really that much of a chair or a table. My parents always packed small metal foldable chairs and table that had a whole in the middle for the umbrella. Now I see progress; this aether beach collection includes materials like hardwood, stainless steel hardware and a black matte finish. Giving its nature, the entire collection focuses on maximum portability; all the pieces can be folded down to fit inside an included traveler bag. Simple and made from very resistant materials, like the hardwood, stainless steel and a back fabric from which army tents are made, this thing has just started to look as very good way to improve your summer beach trips.Available for 500$.
