Elegant DIY Coffee Table

Posted: 19 May 2012 07:32 AM PDT

Life is a long row of different kinds of decisions and compromises. We always want something or get something but most of the times we may encounter some obstacles that we must pass in order to get the things we want to. Sometimes we are forced to make various choices, hive up something in order to get something else. There are cases when we must be satisfied with what we have and appreciate the things around us.If you want to enjoy a nice coffee with your friends in your comfortable living room but you cannot afford an expensive coffee table, here it is an idea.

You can make your own coffee table using some materials like: An Ikea Lack coffee table, spray adhesive, wallpaper, a knife, a paint brush, some decorative nails, a ruler and a hammer. The result will be outstanding although it will take you some time to create such a nice DIY coffee table. In the end you will discover the personal satisfaction that you have done something with your bare hands, the fact that you can decorate your living room with a nice and pretty coffee table and helped you save some money. You can also think of the fact that you have got a useful and practical item for your home which was very necessary too.

As the process is not so complicated, you can even think of creating some other useful items for your home or your friends using the same technique and materials. Thus you can think of a side table, a vintage dresser which can get a new image, design and become useful again.{found on prettycitythings}

250 square rectangular house

Posted: 19 May 2012 05:02 AM PDT

This rectangle-shaped house is located in Tel Aviv, Israel. It was designed by Jacobs-Yaniv Architects in collaboration with structural engineer Doron Toeg and project manager Oren Sadot. The garden was the creation of Itamar Landscape Design Ltd. It's a 250 square meter house that sits on a 750 square meter plot. It has a rectangular shape that occupies most of the site and an overall simple design.

The interior includes the ground floor, where most of the rooms are located, and a basement level. The basement only includes a guest room and a storage area. The house is divided into two main volumes or sections. One is for sleeping while the other one is for social interaction. A pathway in the middle connects these two areas, thus the name of the house. Inside, the rooms in each section are interconnected. There are no walls or columns.

The pathway from the middle of the house is 3 meters wide and 14 meters long. It also includes a tall wooden library. The social section of the house is basically a large open plan. The décor is simple modern, with subtle industrial touches. The house also includes a series of outdoor areas such as the terrace and, of course, the beautiful garden. The transition from snide out is very smooth and the plants play a very important role in this case. They create a strong visual connection between the two spaces and they progressively make the transition.{found on archdaily and pics by Uzi Porat}.

Regardless how you look at it, it's a chic and beautiful piece of furniture. It has a very simple design, with no unnecessary details or accessories. It has a modern design but, given the material and the warmth it inspires, it also has a vintage feel.

The bench/ coffee table is a stylish Danish creation. It serves a dual purpose and this makes double as functional and practical as a regular piece of furniture. There's no way to say if it would serve better as a bench or coffee table. It has the shape, form and design that allow it to be equally functional in both cases. Tiny Spaces, Big Style Impact

Posted: 19 May 2012 12:10 AM PDT

We live in a world where everyone wants the biggest and the best items. But, sometimes, as the saying goes, the best things come in little packages. It's amazing what creative designers have done with small spaces, from building built-in shelves to constructing entire loft areas. When you see some of these incredible spaces, it might cause you to pause and rethink some of the design elements in your own home.

The spaces featured below have been chosen because they have unforgettable style impact. Essentially, if you walk into one of these spaces, you'll immediately want to emulate the style and structure. Part of this impact is that these designers and homeowners were able to do a lot with a little. Another part of it is that they simply have great taste. See what we mean below.

This home, featured on Homedit few days ago, truly utilizes its small footprint. Tucked snugly between two buildings, this home features a unique shape that allows for tall ceilings, a loft bedroom, and even a gorgeous pool. Ultimately, this home is proof that all it takes is a little ingenuity and creativity to make a small space a livable home.

This stunning home, featured on Design Shuffle, packs a ton of gorgeous style in a small space. The plush eating area and the architectural details contribute to the classic feel. The lighting, in particular, helps this space to feel airy and open even with all the windows covered by thick curtains. Remember, a great trick in a small space is to have a light colored floor, ceiling, and furniture to help make the space feel bigger and more open.

This dreamy little loft is a great representation of chic, contemporary style. From the barely there stairs to the fun rug and retro chair, this room has it all. I especially like how the space underneath the loft feels open and not cramped, a difficult feat to achieve in spaces as small as this one. You'll also notice that the style is very unassuming, and the bed is a simple mattress, yet the space still feels beautiful.{from Apartment Therapy}.

This gorgeous studio apartment has all the right stuff. The fireplace and the expensive linens make this space much more high end than your average studio. They were even able to fit in an eating area and a sitting area, even though the apartment likely sits at around 500 square feet. Like some of the rooms featured above, the white walls and painted bricks in this home help to keep this space light, despite its basement status

As you can see, it doesn't take much to help a small space feel bright and expansive. With just a little white paint and some thought, you can achieve results similar to the inspiration rooms featured here. We hope these images have inspired you to embrace your small space, whether you just downsized or are considering buying a larger home. Remember all it takes is a bit of thought and creativity to create an amazing space from a little footprint.

Flexible and futuristic apartment on Sullivan Street

Posted: 18 May 2012 09:28 PM PDT

Planning a futuristic apartment can be difficult, especially when there are already so many things that can influence you. The idea is to think outside the box and it's hard to do that while you're still inside it. This apartment is supposed to be the house of the future. It covers an area of 420 square feet and it has indeed many elements that make it unique and inspiring.

The apartment features movable walls that allow it to have a flexible internal structure. This means that the apartment can be easily transformed. One room could become six and vice versa. The apartment on Sullivan Street is already very impressive and there are many other elements that deserve to be analyzed. Since the internal structure is flexible and so easy to morph, the furniture inside it is also convertible. The apartment resembles a laboratory, given its flexibility and convertibility.

Not only that the apartment is very impressive but it's also sustainable. It's because its owner, Mr. Hill., the founder of TreeHugger, is very interested in protecting the environment. This apartment reflects his modern vision of sustainable design. This place is like a getaway and a permanent home at the same time. The apartment can be anything tis owners wants it to be and it's all because of the ability to think out of the box and the visionary spirit that came up with this design and everything inside it.{found on nytimes}.

The stylish Lee L. Woodard Rocker

Posted: 18 May 2012 02:43 PM PDT

Rocking chairs are very beautiful pieces of furniture, regardless of their designs. They have been around for a long time and, even though there are several different interpretations and versions, the design almost always has elements that repeat themselves. In this case, the novelty is not the shape, form or function that the rocker fulfills. It's the design itself and the variations in terms of details and materials.

This rocking chair was created by the Woodard family of Owosso, Michigan. They have been offering their fine craftsmanship since 1866 and they have created many unique pieces. This particular piece features a beautiful and eye-catching mid-century design. It was the creation of Lee L. Woodard. It's a vintage piece and it's in very good condition. The interesting thing about this rocker is that, despite the visible vintage design and structure, there's also a modern touch to the design, mostly visible in the case of the padded seat.

Not only that this rocker is very beautiful and stylish, with many unique details and fine craftsmanship accents, but it's also a very comfortable piece of furniture. The naturally distressed rich brown leather matches beautifully the patina that gives the chair a vintage look. The chair's leather upholstery and soft padding make it a very comfortable piece of furniture. It can be purchased at the price of $922.00. The dimensions of the rocker are 19'' seat height, 21'' seat width, 27'' overall width, 26'' high back and 39'' depth. It's indeed a unique piece.
