Beautiful Mystique hotel in Santorini Posted: 14 May 2012 10:34 AM PDT The Mystique hotel is located on the cliffs of Oia from where it offers unique and wonderful views of the Aegean Caldera, the volcano and the surrounding landscape. Mystique is more than a hotel. It's a resort with a design similar to those seen in island getaways. It offers a total of 18 suites and villas that are spread on a surface of more than 2,000 square meters. All suites and villas feature elegant designs and beautiful interiors with handcrafted wood elements and structures made from local stone and glass. Some of them also have wooden decks but they all have elegant interiors, warm and inviting decors and they also offer beautiful views. Guests can relax in their suites, have fun in the plunge pool, relax in the lounge areas, have a drink at the pool bar, enjoy delicious meals and have a taste of the 150 year old wine at the restaurant or visit the surroundings.
Mystique is a natural resort that attracts visitors from all over the world. In 2008 it even got an award for the Best Small Resort in the World. What's particularly interesting about this place is that it manages to have a contemporary design while also being reminiscent of traditional designs and décor elements. It's like the past has evolved and merged with the present in a harmonious way. Simply stylish acrylic double ended tub Posted: 14 May 2012 08:49 AM PDT Bathtubs have evolved. They are no longer as simple as they used to be. Even so, this doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the beauty of a semi-traditional tub. This is the Poynter tub, a beautiful, simple and stylish tub with a lovely wood stand. The tub is somewhere in between modern and traditional. It has a simple shape, very similar to those that everyone sued to have a while back, but it also has a chic twist. It's the wood stand that breaks the monotony of the design. It's an extra element that makes everything seem new and different. The tub has an oval shape and it's double ended. Its overall dimensions are 68″ L x 31-3/4″ W (front to back) x 24″ H (± 1/2″). The acrylic tub sits on an oval wood stand that follows its shape and curvatures and adds a nice touch to the overall design.
The tub is made of two acrylic sheets and the spaces between the walls of the tub are partially filled with fiberglass and resin. This gives it durability and makes it stronger. The fiberglass also makes the tub heavier. The wood stand features a dark cherry finish. This model is available in an undrilled version, without tap holes or overflow or with 7'' rim drillings. The wood stand is a beautiful element but it also has another function. The wooden base features built-in adjusters designed to be used on uneven floors. The tub will be purchased without the faucet. You can purchase it separately and you can opt for any model you like.Price avvailable on request. Cozy Scandinavian Apartment With A Strong Eye Catching Paint Above The Sofa Posted: 14 May 2012 07:43 AM PDT This apartment is located in Majorna, in a building dating back to 1900. It has a lot of history but it's also surprisingly modern. The apartment covers a surface of 63 square meters. It has three beautiful rooms and it sits on the second floor in a three-storey building. The initial bid for the apartment is 2.15 million SEK. The apartment benefits from a convenient location. It sits in the center of the complex but, even so, inside it's always peace and quiet thanks to the insulated windows that are facing the street. The bedrooms are facing the courtyard so there's another great advantage. The apartment also includes, besides the three beautiful rooms, a basement of about 4 square meters that can be used for storage. In 2009, the apartment was renovated.
The living room has two large windows overlooking the Charles Johansgatan and Maritime Museum. The kitchen also features two windows facing the same way. It's spacious and includes a dining table as well. The kitchen cabinets are white and the tiles have a matching color. The refrigerator and the oven were replaced in 2009. The first bedroom is spacious and can accommodate a double bed. One wall is entirely covered with white wardrobes and there's also plenty of room for a desk as well. The second bedroom is smaller and would make lovely children's room, guest room or office. It has white walls and windows overlooking the courtyard. Overall the apartment is very beautiful and would make a lovely home for a small family.{found on stadshem}. A bookshelf that holds your books upright Posted: 14 May 2012 06:24 AM PDT Books and shelves worked hand in hand since ever. Big, small, new, old, all your your books need a place for their own. Those who have a lot of books and need them organized will know what I am talking about in the next few lines. I have a problem and I know I'm not the only one who has encountered this. Some of my books always collapse when I try to move them or to get one out.Well no more. This new bookshelf design has in interesting feature that will hold your books upright no matter what. This Hold on Tight bookshelf will hold your books in the right place even if you have 3 books or a whole collection. This revolutionary design features an over-sized wing nut that serves as a bookend that slides into place and can be adjusted to hold your books and secure them wherever it is needed, so you won't have to worry about anything when your collection is shrinking or growing.
This modern piece of furniture was designed by Colleen Whiteley and measures 41"L x 8"W x 11"H. The materials used to build this consist mainly from wood, Beech wood to be more precise and the bookend cube and wing are made of powder coated aluminum, a material with wonderful mechanic characteristics; it is twice as strong as steel but weighs only a fraction compared to the similar steel component.{found on dwell}. 5 creative wine bottle storage ideas Posted: 14 May 2012 05:07 AM PDT Wine bottles require special attention and a certain temperature in order to maintain their taste and other properties. It's why we usually have wine racks in our homes. These are the most common option for wine bottle storage but there are others, more creative, that can be just as functional. Here are 5 such ideas. 1. Built-in storage compartments. If you have a small kitchen and you lack the space for a wine rack or a similar storage solution, you can solve that problem by creating a series of bottle-shaped compartments on the upper part of the walls. This way the bottles are kept safe and at a nice temperature and they take no floor space or counter space.
2. The bottle tree. This is a very ingenious and creative storage idea. All you need is a log cut to the dimensions of your house. It needs to go from the floor to the ceiling and to have some sort of support system that prevents it to fall down. Then drill some holes in the log. It's where the wine bottles will go. They need to fit like in the picture. You can have as many holes as you want. 3. Shelf turned into wine rack. An ordinary shelf can be easily turned into a wine rack. You just need some pieces of wood that will help you delimitate the spaces for the bottles. You can place them in an oblique position and they'll be parallel with each other. The shelf in this case is placed above the refrigerator which might not be the best place for it. You can come up with something else, depending on your possibilities. 4. Narrow shelves in the kitchen island. A similar idea is to create a series of narrow shelves, as high as a wine bottle, where you can safely store them. The shelves can be a practical part of the kitchen island and, when not used as wine racks, they can also serve as regular storage compartments. 5. Bottle-size shelves. In this case, the shelves have just the right dimensions for a wine bottle. They would be too small or too narrow for anything else but they are perfect for wine bottles. Such shelves can be made a part of the kitchen island of storage cabinets usually found in the kitchen. They take little space and they solve a big problem.{picture sources:1,2,3,4 and 5} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to 5 creative wine bottle storage ideas |
The futuristic Bangulella rocking chair Posted: 14 May 2012 03:56 AM PDT We tend to have an outdated image about rocking chairs. They're no longer those vintage pieces that our grandma used to have. They have evolved, just like any other piece of furniture. The Bangulella rocking chair is the perfect one to demonstrate that theory.Bangulella is a futuristic rocking chair that was designed by Charly Molinelli. It's concept chair with a unique design and a shape reminiscent of the Egg chair. Bangulella is a retro-futuristic piece of furniture, if there even is such a thing. Its designed has taken the idea of the rocking chair to a whole other level. The shape of the chair is unusual and the function of this piece of furniture tens to be ambiguous, even when you're sitting in it.
Even though Charly Molinelli describes this chair as "just another rocking chair" we all know that's not true. Bangulella is a very unique and special rocking chair, with a design unseen before, at least in the case of this particular type of furniture. The shape and design of the chair were not chosen purely for aesthetic reasons. The Bangulella rocking chair is also a an extremely comfortable piece of furniture, just like a rocking chair should be. The modern approach to the design together with the innovative shape makes this chair a revolutionary piece of furniture. Impressive beach house which offers panoramic views of the ocean Posted: 14 May 2012 03:08 AM PDT This imposing building is in fact a beautiful beach house located on Bethany Beach, Delaware. The house was a project by Dewson Construction and has an imposing look, both inside and out. The exterior of the house is impressive by its size and architectural details. This is not the typical beach house, with a design as simple and possible and with very few architectural elements. This one is stylish and elegant even before you get to enter the house. Besides the dimensions of the house and the very elegant architectural details that can be seen everywhere you look, another great element that makes this place unique is the fact that it offers panoramic views of the ocean. In fact, the views were a major factor that determined the location and orientation of the building. The interior of the beach house is very impressive. It's very elegant and stylish and all the rooms are very chic.
The two story living room is definitely something to remember. It's an unusual and very interesting approach. The living area tends to look smaller in terms of floor space but the perspective it offers when you raise your eyes and see the high ceiling and all the beautiful artwork from the walls is indeed remarkable. The bedrooms are also very beautiful. They are spacious and beautifully decorated with relaxing colors and stylish furniture. It's not a typical beach retreat but it's definitely something we would all want to have.{found on houseofturquoise} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Impressive beach house which offers panoramic views of the ocean |
Posted: 14 May 2012 02:02 AM PDT When we talk about themed furniture automatically our mind takes us to floral motifs or pieces from the 1920s. If through your mind just flew those images let me show you that this is not what I am talking about. You have probably head about the elephant chair, it was posted a few days ago here on Homedit; not it is the time for marine wild life. Who's the king of the seas? You've got it, the shark! Inspired by its strength and brute force, some people created a special shark-themed collection of c hairs and a table. These chairs are destined to pro athletes or for people with a large corporal structure. It is interesting how in this design there were incorporated shark figures both under the table and on the armrests. As a matter of fact if I look closer, those shark figures are the actual armrests, as for the two united shark figures under table they only act as design elements because the table top is supported by a strong metal structure.
I am not a big fan of themed interiors, especially those that involve animal life, but this is interesting. If what you've seen here light a spark in your head you must know that the coffee table costs around $3,000 , the white Shark Chair will set you back for $ 5,000 and the big black Monster Chairs has written on its price tag: $8,000. Marni shop interior design in Barcelona Posted: 14 May 2012 01:06 AM PDT Marni is an Italian fashion label founded in 1994 by Consuelo Castiglioni. It sells products in 16 countries and has boutique shops in London, New York, Los Angeles, Beijing, Shanghai, Sydney, Moscow, Kuwait, Tokyo and, more recently, in Barcelona. In 2011, Marni has launched its newest flagship shop in Barcelona. It can be found at 304 Carrer de Provença, Barcelona. The store features an entrance hall that leads to a small staircase. As you descend, you reach the main sales room. It's a 127 square meter space filled with Marni's signature elements. The décor includes a large, floor to ceiling stainless steel tree. The same material is found in the railings found on the walls. They serve as display hangars for the clothing products. Overall, the interior décor of the shop is modern and minimalist. It has only few focal points but they are colorful and with a strong visual impact.
The entrance, as well as the façade of the shop, is also minimalist. It features hanging mannequins, clear and simple architectural lines and neutral colors for the background. The monotony is broken by the backlit fiberglass display boxes that immediately catch the client's attention. They create a dramatic effect and have a simple and modern look. It's a place where architecture and fashion work together and result in a stylish composition. Alternative & Stylish Ways To Display Photos Posted: 14 May 2012 12:34 AM PDT Instead of making a cluttered mess having all your favorite family and vacation photos displayed on side tables and along the wall in random places in ugly, boring frames … try displaying them in some different ways. We’re all too used to seeing everyone’s graduation, wedding and 4th grade snapshots hanging above the bookcase or staring at us in the face on a coffee table. There are plenty of ways to incorporate your family’s pictures into your home’s decor and not just as a side piece or messy, chunky accessory. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out the best possible place to hang a new photo or those vacation pictures you’ve just gotten developed. The rest of your home is decorated already, without a place to hang the pictures. And because of this, unfortunately, they seem to always end up taking up too much space on the fridge, along with an abundance of magnets, report cards and doctor’s appointment reminders.
Try out and use some of these inspirational and creative ways to display your photos. They’re all work as a way to design your space with your photos in mind, instead of trying to find a place for them after the styling has already been completed. I’m a lover and big advocate of DIY projects and being able to put personal touches on as much as you can inside your home. It is your home after all! And with almost all of these ideas, you’re the brains behind your home’s beauty and not some home decor superstore. Leave all those store bought frames and new age photo gadgets behind. And please stop buying photo frames on sale, just because they’re on sale (even if it’s a fabulous find). They do absolutely nothing for your home’s style or design! Instead, stock up on clipboards, chicken wire, hangers and clothespins ….. so you can create something extra special for an extra special part of your home. When you host a dinner party or have some friends over for afternoon tea, it gets a little overwhelming having every inch of your wall covered with pregnancy photos and grandma’s latest Christmas photo-op. It’s important to remember that your home is a balance between your family and style … but it’s easy to capture both. Use all these fabulously creative ideas to give your photos a new look. You don’t have to follow along exactly (unless it works for you of course) but give it your own flair and have fun. Just remember to think outside-the-box or, well, outside-the-frame.{picture sources:apartmenttherapy, wenderful and mightygirl}.
