Hotel Andronikos Cocoon Suites on Mykonos Island in Greece Posted: 12 May 2012 08:33 AM PDT Hotel Andronikos is an amazing structure located on Mikonos Island, in Greece. The hotel is very beautiful in its whole but there's one part of it that is particularly interesting. We're talking about the Cocoon Suites. There are 13 of them and they have all been recently redesigned by KLab Architects. The Mikonos Island is very beautiful. A lot of tourists are drawn to this location during summer and the population increases drastically. There are many beautiful hotels of the island but the Cocoon Suites from Hotel Andronikos are indeed unique. These suites feature a modern interpretation of the traditional architecture. Hotel Mikonos was built in 1990. Recently, 13 rooms out of 57 have been redesigned by Klab Architects. These are the Cocoon Suites.
These suites have a very interesting design and architecture. They are characterized by irregular lines and angles and an overall compact look. They seem to have a distorted shape but this is one of the details that make these rooms unique. The furniture featured in these suits shares the same characteristics as the rooms themselves. The furniture seems to be attached to the walls, to be part of them. It's like the furniture is erupting from the building. The Cocoon Suites were conceived as low tech rooms, as pure spaces that would feel unique and different but also inviting and comfortable. How to create an outdoor kitchen Posted: 12 May 2012 07:55 AM PDT Outdoor kitchens might not be very common nor they represent a must have for the majority of us, but they can be a wonderful addition or extension for the house, especially during the summer. There are plenty of ways in which you can organize and decorate an outdoor kitchen and some of them are quite simple. The first thing you need to keep in mind when choosing the furniture for your outdoor kitchen is that outdoor furniture is very different from that used for the indoor areas. You need to make sure it's crafter with weather-resistant materials and it would also be best to be placed in a protected area. As for the décor you should use, there are several possibilities.
A kitchen, whether it's indoors out outdoors, needs a storage area. An outdoor cabinet would be wonderful. And since we’re talking about storage, a kitchen island would also be very useful. Decorating an outdoor kitchen is not very different from decorating a regular kitchen. The materials are different and the background but the rest is basically the same.Since you'll have an outdoor kitchen, it would be a nice idea to also have an outdoor dining area. All you need is a table and some stools. You can place there on the patio or in a covered area. Also, since the kitchen is outdoors, where people usually have barbeques with their friends, including a fire pit or grill into the kitchen décor would be an essential element. Installing all the kitchen appliances can get difficult and tricky. This is why a specialist should be your first option. You can design and make the furniture by yourself and you have the freedom of choosing everything from the color, the location, the materials, the style to the specific pieces of furniture you need but the technical part requires specialized knowledge so it's best to ask a professional. However, keep in mind that an outdoor kitchen should be first of all practical and functional, easy to use and comfortable. And since it's outdoors, you should consider using nature-inspired colors to make it blend in.{picture sources:1,2,3,4 and 5}. Many people like to work at home and they enjoy having a home office. But whether you have a separate room or only a small corner in your bedroom, you definitely need a desk. This particular desk is suitable for all kinds of spaces. It's something you can easily include in the bedroom or in the office. The desk has a very simple design with minimalist lines and no unnecessary details. It has plenty of storage included and a compact and simple shape. The desk features a polished inox base and a top made from black painted wood. The overall dimensions of this functional piece of furniture are 51.15″ (closed) x 24″ x 31″H.
The metal and wood combination is a common mix and it's something that solves several problems. The resulting piece is durable and strong but it's also elegant and beautiful thanks to the warmth and character that the wood adds. The desk seems very simple. However, it has a surprise hidden inside. The top slides open and reveals a series of hidden compartments for storage. This allows the desk to maintain its compact look while also being functional and practical. It's a particularly great choice for small spaces. It has a simple and professional look but it's also chic and stylish. The price it’s available on request. Ski Chalet With A Modern Interior Design Instead Classic Wood Posted: 12 May 2012 06:09 AM PDT Until now I was used to see traditional chalets: small, made of wood and with lots of rustic decorations, but now I had the opportunity to see a different kind of chalet, more modern and sophisticate. This construction was designed by architects from Atelier Kastelic Buffey and it was created for a family who prefers to spend their winter holidays skiing in the mountains and enjoying the views during summers. Although the first impression is that it looks a little flat, all those details really make the difference between a regular house and this one; this special home is the place where anyone can enjoy the views both from outside and inside. The main area is the one with the living room, the kitchen and dining room. The same kind of floors create the impression of having a big open space partially separated by that beautiful cantilevered stone fireplace from the middle of the room, while its two story ceilings are designed to create a breezy atmosphere with plenty of natural light and fresh air. Because of its big white walls, white ceilings and furniture in neutral tones, the house desperately needed a contrast, some colors to make it more alive.
So, all those big windows let us use different parts of the exterior landscape as an interior decoration which changes every season. In the living room the modern furniture is emphasized by the contrast with that dark purple carpet while in the dining area the contrast is realized by those minimalist chairs. Upstairs, in a more private place, the guests can relax in a very comfortable orange sofa and enjoy a movie, or perhaps they can reinvigorate in the sauna.{found on wilsonproject}. Modern two-room apartment in Gothenburg Posted: 12 May 2012 05:10 AM PDT This apartment measures 52 square meters but it's surprisingly spacious and bright. It has two rooms and an airy kitchen and it's currently on the market for 1.795 million SEK. The apartment is located in Kungsladugård, a region of Gothenburg, in a building that dates from 1924. It's a lovely apartment, on the third floor of the 3-story building. The apartment has been beautifully restored and it features the original windows on the east and west sides as well as the original flooring, the paneling and the mirrored doors. These are all elements that have been preserved during the renovation, that create the charm and character of the apartment.
The kitchen is spacious and has an industrial feel. It's facing east and it's bright and light-filled. The kitchen is large and has plenty of space for a dining area as well. It's square-shaped and this allows it to accommodate many different arrangement and décor options. The living room is also square-shaped and this makes it versatile and easy to decorate. It's a flexible space with west-facing windows that allow views of the castles. The living room can easily accommodate a sofa, a coffee table, a bookcase or sideboard as well as a couple of comfortable armchairs. The bedroom has west-facing windows with views of the green landscape. It's a quiet space, perfect for relaxation. It features a double bed, a wardrobe and an armchair but it could also accommodate a small workspace if needed. Overall, this is a lovely apartment, not overly small but still inviting and friendly.{found on alvhemmakleri}. Posted: 12 May 2012 04:22 AM PDT There are lots of ways in which you can beautifully decorate your home. You can explore the benefits of color, pattern, texture, you can try to combine different styles and you can also accent lights to make your home more inviting and bright. Accent lighting is something you can use both indoors and outdoors. As in most cases, it all depends on the user's character and preferences. Accent lighting can be roughly divided into indoor and outdoor fixtures. For the indoors areas there are many different options. For example, a beautiful and eye-catching chandelier can be a beautiful focal point. A chandelier placed above the dining room table is often a very elegant choice. Chandelier can also make stylish additions to living room areas.
If chandeliers are too glamorous or opulent for you, than maybe you would like other options better. You can use floor lamps to create a romantic atmosphere and they are versatile and great for all the rooms. Table lamps can also be very beautiful. Depending on the style you have chosen for the décor, the lamps can either blend in or stand out. A simple way of turning them into focal points is to use bright colors or extravagant details. Another options, this time very subtle, versatile and elegant, is to use recessed lighting. They are simple and can radically change the atmosphere in a room. They are almost the opposite of pendant lamps or chandeliers but the effect they have is subtle and strong at the same time, less dramatic but equally efficient. As for the outdoor areas, things are simpler but quite complex as well. Lamps can also be sued for the outdoor areas. They are most efficient when used in covered spaces. Of course, it all depends on the type of fixture you want to use and the purpose you want it for. For example, the garden can benefit from solar lighting fixtures. The terrace or deck can be beautifully completed by hanging or floor lamps. Wall lamps are also a very practical solution for all outdoor spaces.{picture sources:1,2,3,4,5,and 6}.
