An outdoor organizer with a down-to-earth design

Posted: 11 May 2012 10:02 AM PDT

When you live in a house you usually have a small piece of land surrounding your house, too. Most people choose to cover it with grass or maybe with stones in order to arrange a special outdoor place where to spend the beautiful days and nights of summer. Well, there are still some people who choose to plant flowers, bushes, shrubberies and even small trees because they just like gardening. I am one of those people and I love working the land, even though I do not pretend to be a very skilled gardener nor do I dare to say I obtain some excellent results. But I do using my hands and turning a useless piece of land into a beautiful and green oasis. But I realized a gardener has lots of gardening tools and they need all of them handy , easy to reach when you need them. So I got this  outdoor organizer with a down-to-earth design that is both very useful and also very nice.

This is actually a very nice looking apron that is made of cotton duck fabric. It has many pockets that are bigger or smaller and that can be used for storing different gardening tools. It has a natural color with Navy topstitching and is made of a very resistant fabric that is also a raw material. You can choose to wear the apron yourself, wrapped around your waste or, if you kneel while gardening and it is a bit uncomfortable to wear, you can wrap it around a bucket and keep it within reach. Either way, it is very handy and you can purchase it for $28.

Your bedroom is your solace, your personal space and what should be the homiest part of your home …. for you of course! And as we all know …. the windows are the eyes of your home. So what you choose to do with your bedroom windows have the ability to set the tone for the entire style and feel of the space. Take a look through some of these great options and hopefully you’ll find something for your private little refuge away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the house.

1. Make it chic.

If you want something simple and tailored use solid colored drapery panels to complete a nice and clean space. They won’t stand out too much and they’ll add just the right about of polish to a bedroom filled with simple decor.{picture found on hgtv}.

2. Use something that moves.

If you want an ethereal, whimsical, romantic hideaway use silks or chiffon as room partitions or as curtains will definitely add that feeling. The sheerness will let you enjoy a great window view and create a very organic, natural ethos.{picture from site}.

3. Double up with high ceilings.

What do you do with double-height ceilings, besides be jealous of those who are fortunate to have them? Well, use extra-extra long curtains to create an amazing and rich space. Now if you’re fortunate enough to have higher ceilings in the bedroom, use curtains that will create even more height and give that room an extra punch.{pictures from 1&2}.

4. Be daring and use patterns.

Maybe you have a sleek bedroom and want something to give the area an extra oomph. Or maybe you want something super eclectic and artsy so you’ll be sleeping in a little creative heaven. Using patterns will create something super stylish and fashion-y without being too over-the-top.

5. Keep the dark out.

Need your bedroom to be super relaxing and cozy? Try out some dark curtains against some soothing colored walls and you’ll be inducing afternoon naps day after day. Just make sure to balance out the darkness with a some lighter hues.

Brazilian Architect Jorge Elias’s home in Sao Paulo

Posted: 11 May 2012 07:05 AM PDT

This is the home of Brazilian architect Jorge Elias. It's an imposing house located in Sao Paulo and it has a very interesting and unique interior décor. The architect has created a décor that combined antique and contemporary influences. These seem like two opposite styles, but not when you know how to play with them.

This beautiful neoclassical mansion is located in quiet and tranquil neighborhood. Here, the architect, also known as antiques dealer, interior decorator and owner of a home furnishing boutique, lives with his wife Lucila and their children Manuela and Eduardo. They started building this magnificent house 14 years ago when a lot was available. It was a great opportunity and, as you can see, the space was well used.

The mansion is a 17,000 square foot faux limestone structure and it has a unique and original design. It features marble floors and gold-leafed pilasters. Inside, the mansion is filled with antiques and art pieces. The architect and his family have been collecting for more than 30 years so by now they have a very impressive collection.

However, not everything in there is antique. There are also quite a few contemporary pieces that beautifully blend into the décor. It's an odd combination but the result is surprisingly natural. Among some of the unique pieces that they've collected over the years, we can mention an 18th century sculpture from Bangkok and a Roman torso from Syria. Every little object has great sentimental value and together they all reflect the journey that the couple is on.{found on AD}.

Tiny studio apartment with a cozy and airy interior

Posted: 11 May 2012 05:49 AM PDT

This is an apartment that measures only 33.5 square meters. It's a tiny place but it can be enough space for one person. Sometimes it's better to have a tiny space that's yours and yours only than to live in a huge house with a bunch of other people you don't really like. It's nice to escape from family and to be on your own. And just because this apartment is small it doesn't mean it's not inviting and cozy.

The reality is that a small space is more likely to feel personal, comfy and welcoming than a large one. This mini studio apartment only has one room. This is where its owner works, spends time with guests and rests. It's a room that was functionally divided to make space for storage, work and relaxation. One wall features a series of suspended cabinets. They are great for storing all sorts of things. Underneath these cabinet is the work area. It's a simple desk with a chair but it's enough.

The opposite wall has an eye-catching black and white print. Against it is the raised bed, with its simple, modern and comfortable design. A simple coffee table in front of it makes the room complete. The furniture might not be the expensive type but it's beautiful, comfortable and elegant. It's also very functional and this is a very important aspect in this case. This tiny apartment also has a tiny kitchen with a small dining corner. It's a simple kitchen with white walls and furniture and with an expandable dining table. It might be a small home but it's very inviting and chic.{found on Alhvem}.

White wood painted house with a modern interior

Posted: 11 May 2012 01:32 AM PDT

Having a terrain in the middle of the mountains can be sometimes an opportunity to experience some new things. For example, designers from Chaplinskyy& Associates had the chance to use ecological materials, to combine hundreds of pieces of wood to build an amazing house in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains. Because the wood was painted in white, the house desperately needed some decorations and interesting combinations of materials and textures to turn this wooden home into a small palace with a black and white interior. Like any other palace, this house has many chandeliers, different in every room.

In the living area, above some comfortable white sofas and a dark glass and wood coffee table a beautiful fireplace was placed to enlighten the whole place. Here, in a corner, there is also a unique fireplace which personally reminds me about romantic moments seen in some old movies.

I have to say that in this house, my favorite area is the one with the kitchen and the dining room. The kitchen is quite small, but very useful and elegant in the same time, while the dining room has its own decorating theme which stands out from the other ones.

I was impressed by all the details because every object, piece of furniture, eating utensil match with the others. That special chandelier decorated with black and white imitations of precious stones match the lamp from the wall and also the wallpaper, tablecloth and candlestick. Upstairs, every bedroom and private area has its own decorations which differ depending on the personality of each family member.

Beautiful Bird Lamps Collection

Posted: 11 May 2012 12:49 AM PDT

If you go to the centre of Iassy, near the statue of "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" you will be impressed by the big numbers of pigeons which gather here. People come to see them, feed them and take with them their kids too. Kids adore these lovely birds which float in the air when they try to find a place to rest and who also love people's company. The noise they make, the rituals they have when they court their bird- ladies are just some features that make them even more attractive. Kids love to run after them, watch them eating or flying.

If you want something to remind you of these lovely birds, you may think of the avian-themed collection called "Marina's Bird" which was designed by the Belarus design studio, Fajno. It is a beautiful collection which is composed of several ceiling and table top lamps that take the shape of some small and lovely birds.

The lamps are a combination of wood and glass, available in various colors like: yellow, red, purple, black, light green, light blue or white.Even the arrangement of the birds is different. They can be used as single or in group of more birds. Thus as the variety of models and colors is so large you will be able to choose the right models and colors that best suites your interiors. They can be used for desks, bedrooms, kitchens or even living rooms. Their sweet appearance will create a warm and lovely ambiance. You may think of your kid's room too. He or she will definitely love to have in his or her room such a nice and cute lamp.

Maitland-Smith Bellatrix Black Chest

Posted: 11 May 2012 12:06 AM PDT

Wow, this piece really fits my taste entirely in furniture. It is so elegant and the only thing that I can't get out of my head is quality.  Just look at it and you will see what I am talking about. This is a Maitland-Smith Black Chest called Bellatrix and it is made entirely from mahogany with a black-lacquer finish.  The reason I show you this is because this marvelous transition piece works superb in many interiors and decorating styles.

Maitland-Smith Bellatrix Black Chest

I said earlier something about quality; well, you should know that this chest, as we can see has a nice silvery embossed-leather top , lost-wax cast nickel-plated brass and silver-leaf accents.  Am I right, or am I right? Quality defines this product from top to bottom. To better understand this piece you should know that the company that produces the " Bellatrix" is specialized  on fine craftsmanship and only builds the best accent furniture and decorative accessories inspired by European antiques from the 17th and 18th centuries.

This black chest makes no exception; that is why it costs $3,569.00 and it is being shipped around the word from the original Maitland-Smith workshop were highly skillful craftsmen work on them, transforming simple pieces of wood and metal into art. I don't know about you guys but this chest conquered me and now I really want to have only for myself. I simply adore it!
