Another DIY Pallets Transformation Into Table Posted: 19 Aug 2011 07:05 AM PDT Most of DIY projects are made of things that in time they became useless. These DIY projects are a way of bringing them back to life and finding them a new purpose. It is also a good way of recycling old things and taking care of our environment. The same thing happened to these wood pallets. They were transformed into a nice DIY Succulent Pallet Table. This DIY project begins with the deconstructing the wood pallets. After you pull apart two wood pallets you use 2×4 sized boards in order to get a rectangular frame to attach it to the table legs.
The top of this table is made up in three sections: two flat boards make the right side, three boards make the left side and the center three boards represent the separate planting box area. Some 3×8 inch holes can be drilled in the bottom and you may fill them up with some small sized flowers like succulents and some pebbles which will complete the whole décor of the table. For those who love simple things, made by their own hand this DIY project is perfect for them. They will also be able to admire their favorite flowers every day and complete their outdoor design with this nice DIY Succulent Pallet Table.{foud on faroutflora} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Another DIY Pallets Transformation Into Table |
Live/Work Converted Loft by 3six0 Architecture Posted: 19 Aug 2011 06:10 AM PDT 3six0 Architecture have recently converted a loft into a live/work area for their clients, an artist and her husband. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, this unique loft is the great place to create wonderful things. The challenge with this house was to create two different spaces while keeping the design throughout the entire space. There are separate spaces and duplicates; a sun room, entry and utility room which have equal access. In order to fulfill the client’s demands the architects had to divide the space. To make this happen they used every trapezoidal geometry of the space, angles and awkwardly located columns to impose a division of the place.
Taking into consideration what both of the owners likes, 3six0 developed two architectural characters, “cloud” and “stack”. “Cloud” floats, grows down from the ceiling, while “stack” is very constructed. Although these two characters are placed on each of their client’s sides, they aren’t really isolated from each other. The loft has white walls and bright flooring that make the space feel big and airy. The house is very modern, with a lot of beautiful details, such as the light fixtures, but it also has an industrial look due to the pipes that cross the ceiling. This contemporary loft is not only functional, but it is beautiful as well. It is both a home and an office at the same time, a great place to live in.{John Horner Photography} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Live/Work Converted Loft by 3six0 Architecture |
Friends Advertising and Friends for Friends, located in a loft in Bucharest Posted: 19 Aug 2011 05:28 AM PDT The publicity agency Friends Advertising, together with the Friends for Friends foundation share a common headquarter located in a friendly loft in Cişmigiu Gardens (Parcul Cişmigiu), a public park near the center of Bucharest, Romania. The headquarter is a circular space around the interior courtyard. The 452 sq meter area is mostly an open space, the only closed areas being the meeting room and the smoking lounge. However, the biggest benefit, in the opinion of Sorin Tranca, the founder of Friends Advertising, is the tall ceiling. He says this allows people to be more free-spirited and more creative and dynamic which they can’t do in a room that’s two meters tall. The agency moved in the new headquarter last year, in 2010. During the process of searching a space to rent, Sorin Tranca found this loft and he immediately fell in love with it. The loft was modern and recently reconditioned and it wasn’t decorated so they had the freedom of designing it in a way that would result in a personalized and original space.
They added a big aquarium, glass paintings, a collection of pink dildos and a lucky fountain. One area of the headquarter was turned into Caffffe Creativa, a place that’s opened to everyone and where people can go to work or to relax. The foundation also has a large library with around 1000 volumes and their number should reach 3500 until the end of the year.{found on wall-street} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Friends Advertising and Friends for Friends, located in a loft in Bucharest |
140 sqm Private Flat in Paris by PPil Posted: 19 Aug 2011 02:23 AM PDT Located deep in the hearth of the seventh arrondissement of Paris, France, this cozy flat is situated at the sixth floor of the building dating back to the 19th century. The building definitely had a historic look and so did the interior space of this flat. But the owners didn't want a piece of history but a more modern place to live so they've decided to renovate the place and to redesign the whole space. The 140 sqm flat was redesigned by PPil architects and several changes had to be made. The flat had potential and the large space available offered more freedom to the architects. It was already equipped with a long balcony that went from one side to the other and this provided the owners with beautiful views and a large open space available from several rooms. The landscape can also be admired from inside thanks to the large glass windows.
The internal structure of the apartment had to be modified in order to open up the rooms and to create several separated areas inside the loft. There's a huge bookcase that extends into three separate rooms, linking them together: the living area, the dining room and the kitchen. There's another trio formed by the dining room, bathroom and the bedrooms that open one to the other and have lower ceilings. This creates a more intimate and private atmosphere. Posted: 19 Aug 2011 12:36 AM PDT Most of the times DIY projects besides their practical side they are also a funny activity. They may fill your free time on a rainy afternoon or a boring day that you spend at home. The activity may become even funnier if you use some cute materials as for examples some pair of socks. Usually women hate the moment when they find their husband's socks everywhere in the house. Now if you prepare to start a funny DIY project based on the use of some pair of socks you might forget about this incident and even become happy when you find them.If the pair of socks has a lovely and interesting design then it might become perfect for your DIY Argyle Sock Vases. Here are the materials that you need: socks, vessels, needle and thread, scissors and scrap fabric.
Now you are ready to start your work. Pull sock over vessel to make sure if fits nicely and you like the shape of it. Cut the sock an inch underneath the vessel. Pull it off the vessel to sew it. Put your vessel base on the leftover socks bits and trace the bottom. Do this on your scrap fabric also. Cut out the two base shapes. Pin the scrap fabric to the sock fabric so that the scrap will go on the inside and the sock will be facing out on the base. Turn the sock inside out and put back on the vessel. Fold the extra fabric underneath the base and pin it inside the circle template you made with the scrap fabric facing out. When you sew this and turn it inside out you will have the sock base facing outwards, which is what you want. Sew the base to the rest of the sock using matching color thread. Snip any excess fabric once it is sewn to remove bulk from the base. Turn inside out and slide your sock over your vessel. You can fuss with the banding at the top to make it straight.{found on designsponge} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to DIY Argyle Sock Vases |
Luxury Alila Villas Uluwatu by WOHA Architects Posted: 18 Aug 2011 11:47 PM PDT The Alila Villa Uluwatu is a hotel and villa development located in on the dry savannah landscape of the Bukit Peninsular on the dramatic southern cliffs of the Indonesian island of Bali. It's a resort comprising a 50 suite hotel and 35 residential villas. The 35 1/2 acre project was designed by WOHA architects, starting with 2004 and it was completed in 2009. Alila Villa Uluwatu is an ecologically sustainable development that development has been designed from the start to exceed Green Globe 21 requirements. The complex uses low energy lighting, non-chemical termite treatment, naturally ventilated public areas and all wastewater goes to grey water system where it's sued for watering plants and for toilet flushing. Moreover, all the materials used in the construction are local. Craftsmen in Java and Bali are making the interior furniture, lamps and accessories. The landscape also includes only native plants, which are more drought tolerant and that also create a very beautiful local image. All large trees have preserved or transplanted and the site vegetation has been surveyed and documented.
Even more interesting than that is the way the hotel rooms look like. They were designed as inhabited gardens and everything occurs in a garden environment. The terraces roofs were designed using Balinese volcanic Pumice rock, a natural insulating material that also blends beautifully with the landscape. The interior design of the hotel suites and villas is a combination of traditional architecture and modern and dynamic elements. Both the location and the architecture and design are incredibly beautiful and pleasant to watch and enjoy. Two Minds, One Result: A Different Kind of Bistro Posted: 18 Aug 2011 11:14 PM PDT In a time when we are too busy and always on the run, bistros have become a solution adopted by most people. According to the preferences, you can choose whatever you want, a more traditional bistro or a modern one from the wide range of places. For example, the Green Bistro in the Lengermann & Trieschmann department store, located in Osnabruck, Germany seems to be a very good option. Nothing compares to the modern atmosphere created by the interesting lines of the design, work of two important names in the field, Siddik Erdogan & Jorn Frohlich. They transformed the natural shapes into a source of inspiration, which led to a lack of sharp edges. The plan was to build a sustainable modern place, which could provide healthy green food and the result proved to be a success, an innovative bistro with functional parts: food displays, tray shelves, benches and tables.
The white chairs and tulip tables perfectly complete an already welcoming design with an original ceiling that seems to belong to a fantastic world. In fact, the ceiling with its interesting shape is the first thing that draws your attention when you enter this place, while the rest seems to add naturally. Only together, all tehse elements can create this functional space with an incredibly pleasant atmosphere in tones of white and brown. If we take into consideration the fact that every little thing was individually created and mounted in order to fit the overall look, we can say that the result is the perfect image of originality and modernity. How to Prepare a Wall for Painting? Posted: 18 Aug 2011 10:05 PM PDT Are the walls of your room covered with wallpaper? Do you want to update the look of your room? Well, if this is the case, then why not consider painting. Believe it or not but dressing the wall with a fresh coat of paint is one of the easiest ways to impart the room with a fresh crisp look. And the most significant feature of painting is that the task can be easily initiated and completed on one's own. All you need to do is prepare the wall and paint the desired color. First of all, you need to remove the wallpaper. Spray a solution of vinegar and water on the wall, and starting peeling them gradually. You might have to employ a putty knife or scarper to handle the tougher portions.
Check the wall for any remaining or excessive adhesive. Wash away the excess adhesive with the help of a solution made out of mild detergent and warm water. Small amounts of adhesive necessarily do not require this treatment. The damaged area, cracks and holes would require compound filling. Employ a putty knife to fill in the cracks evenly. Allow them to dry for at least 24 hours. If the wall features large defects in the form of gauged areas, you need to hide them with a coat of primer. If there are molds on the wall, clean it with bleach and wash the wall with warm water. Then apply treatment to the wall with any fungicidal product and finally apply a heavy coat of primer.Lastly ensure that the surface is free from dust, dirt and grime and is completely dry. Paint the wall as desired. Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to How to Prepare a Wall for Painting? |
