Re: [ClermontFLReUseIt] Offer: Urgent: Need to find a loving home for my dog

I have always been told that I shouldn't disclose everything if I want to
find my dog a home but I believe in being 100% honest. If it's mean to be,
it's meant to be. Anyways, I just wanted to give everybody an update just in
case those of you who responded were scared off because I think you would be
pleasantly surprised by what you read. I have also uploaded new pictures
from his encounter with the kids mentioned below, so be sure to check them
out. I had thought that the incident I mentioned was just a result of the
situation and the stress I was under and I am now sure that is was. The
older boy I mention has rescued and helped to re-home a lot of dogs,
especially pit bulls, and he picked up on my stress and how it was affecting
my dog from the minute he met me. He himself was a victim of a viscous dog
bite when he was younger but knows how to handle them very well and
surprisingly has absolutely no fear of them but he does know that having
fear of them does also add to the stress of a dog.

Update to posting:
My dog has always been around children and loves them, but sometimes too
much because he is quite heavy and thinks he's a lap dog. Up until yesterday
I had just assumed he would be good around children 8 year olds and older
because that is all we have exposed him to. However, taking him to the park
yesterday for the first time I was quite surprised to see how gentle he was
with younger children. The little girl in the photo I have uploaded is a 3
year-old with austim and she really responded to Max and as you can tell
from the pictures he just let her do whatever she wanted to him, which was
to ride him like a pony. It was a coincidence to run into her because I had
always thought my dog could make a great therapy dog with the right trainer
but was never sure until yesterday. I was even more sure after we later met
a 6 year-old boy with aspergers syndrome who fell in over with Max too.
addition, the older boy in the picture is someone my dog just met two days
ago and he is amazing with my dog. Max and him get along like best buds who
have known each other all their life and the funny thing is that one of the
comments he first mentioned after meeting him was that he would make a great
therapy dog. He would make the perfect owner but unfortunately his landlord
does not allow big dogs but he might possibly be able to take in my other
dog. So for now I am continuing my quest to find a good home for Max and I
have high hopes that maybe he is intended for bigger and better things after
seeing how he might be able to help provide therapy to children with special
needs.
