When nature meets the city you usually get nothing because the nature gets destroyed to make room for artificial structures like towers, clubs, supermarkets etc. People miss the beauty of the natural elements but they enjoy the comfort of the artificial ones so there's not a lot they get to do in that direction.

The EDITT Tower is here to prove us wrong. Located in Singapore and designed by architects T. R. Hamzah & Yeang, is a very eco-friendly structure. The 26 storey building manages to harmoniously put together two very different concepts: modernity and respect for the environment. EDITT is actually the acronym for Ecological Design in the Tropics. This amazing structure features around 855 m2 of photovoltaic panels delivering 39,7% of the building's energy supply. And this is not all. A biogas generation plant is used to convert sewage into alternate energy and fertilizer. The whole structure is wrapped into an insulator shield of local vegetation. A grey-water recycling system is used to irrigate the living façade.

So, as you can see, there's still hope. This is an incredible example of how people and nature can coexist. We just have to be friendly a little less selfish. Not everything is about us, although this is still a type of self interest, because we're just trying to protect the nature in order to extend our existence on this planet. While children and especially teenagers can't wait to get out of school and get away from all the notebooks and books, it's not the same for grown ups. They actually miss the old days when they were going to school with all their friends and colleagues, when they had homework and essays to write. It's funny how time can make you miss something that you almost hated a while ago. Of course, this doesn't apply to everybody.

This very different perspective will probably create opposite reactions for children and adults when they see this unusual creation inspired by notebook paper sheets. This funny bed clothing reproduces exactly the lines of the notebook. The set features a blue and red line patters on a dark beige background. Most notebooks have a white background but the dark beige is actually a very clever choice because it will trigger the nostalgia of the user with this vintage look.

It's a very original and fun idea, even though some of us might have nightmares while sleeping in these sheets and other will have sweet anamnestic dreams. Once we all were children and we were in love with all kinds of fairy tales. Some of us loved the stories with princes and princesses; others liked the ghost stories, the stories of adventures with pirates or other fantastic characters. Here we have found a magic world where we have learned to make the difference between good and evil or right and wrong, where everything has been possible and has become our own universe.

If you want to remind you of those magic moments of your childhood, you can take a look at this fairy tale Casa Batllo, located in Barcelona.Restored and remodeled by the Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi, Casa Batllo was named locally the House of Bones. Its design looks like a skeleton, the materials used and its shape imitate the structure of bones. The designer's intention was also to avoid the use of the straight lines and this type of design seemed perfect for this building.

Freedom Room in Propeller Island City Lodge Hotel in Berlin

If you ever get tired of the same hotel room when you go on holiday and want to visit something less of the ordinary, you should visit the Propeller Island City Lodge Hotel in Berlin. This is certainly the most unusual hotel I have ever seen. In fact the interior design is the one attracting tourists because of the weird themes of the rooms. The master of the interior design and the artist behind the project is the German designer Lars Stroschen that some people may consider crazy after having seen his visions.

Here is only one example of interior design in this hotel, but you should know all rooms there are unique and unusual at the same time. Ladies and gentlemen, here is the “Freedom” room that will make you appreciate your freedom a bit more and also become aware of the possibility of not having it.

The room looks just like a prison cell, with a hard bed and the toilet in the same room, a few inches from the bed. You have a small green  closet and an ugly chair to sit on. But the most interesting feature of the design is the hole in the wall that suggests a prison escape. All the details are there, including the hammer used to break the wall and the broken bricks resulting from this action. And even the thought that you came here as a visitor and because you wanted so is liberating as it gives you the certainty that you will get out, that you will have your freedom. Kaleidolight for Outdoor Lighting

Can you imagine what it would be like to have your own private constellation on the wall of your house when you stay out in the garden or patio in the warm summer nights with a clear sky? You can even choose the colour of your stars and their number. Hey, you don’t have to wake up, as you are not dreaming – this is real and it is called Kaleidolight, a kind of word combination between kaleidoscope and light.

This is actually modular glass lighting because the constellation I was only dreaming about is made of many glass tubes of different colours or having the same colour for a more powerful visual impact. All these tubes are then fixed in the house wall on the outside according to a pre-established pattern.

This way you will be able to have different lit patterns on the wall of your house, thanks to Ali Ganjavian. He was the one who created this glass tube with an aluminum lid and an interior aluminum line that gets incandescent and casts light onto the glass of different colours surrounding it. All these tubes then go into the wall and get fixed there, but the visual effect created is amazing.

We spend more and more time in front of the computer or at the office because more of our work involves using a computer for typing documents, writing reports, keeping records and so on. So we become more and more static and this can be tiring, especially if you have the same position for many hours.

Of course you can get up and stretch your legs, but sometimes the only thing you want to do is have a short nap and then continue work with new “batteries” and a fresh perspective. But sleeping with your head on the desk or keyboard is not very comfortable – believe me, I have tried. So why don’t you use this Ostrich instead?

This “Ostrich” thing that you can se ein the photos is a combination of cushion, cap, pillow and thick scarf. It is designed by Ali Ganjavian and is meant to ease the pain in your neck after long hours at your desk. The name is borrowed from the big bird that hides its head in sand when cared. Well, if you use one of these you will certainly look like an ostrich, but you will feel warm and comfortable and you will  be able to rest with your head on the desk without a problem.
