A Few Tips About the Double Bed

Posted: 19 May 2011 04:12 AM PDT

If you are married or involved in a serious relationship then you know you need a double bed in order to have a decent night’s sleep that will provide you with the energy you need through the day. Here are a few tips about choosing and positioning your double bed in your bedroom so as to make the best of it.

So what is the first thing that matters when it comes to your double bed? Well, I should say it’s the size: it has to offer you both enough space and comfort, but at the same time make sure it’s not too big or wide so as to cover the whole room or to make you feel lost in it and travel to the other side. The best length for a double bed is between 200 and 210 cm. As for the width, the perfect one is about 150-180 cm. It is also important to choose a normal bed, not too high and also not too low unless, of course, you are a Japanese.

The next tip is to purchase a very good quality mattress for your bed because there’s no use having a gorgeous bed with a bad mattress that will prevent you from sleeping decently. The best ones are orthopedic mattresses and also pillows.

Now let’s talk about positioning the bed: usually this piece of furniture is placed on one wall in the center, so that both occupants can have access to it and will not have to jump over obstacles. You should leave at least 70 cm on each side. Try to face the door when positioning the bed because it’s in our genes to keep our eyes on the access point. And, if you have a nice view from the window, place the bed near the window for a relaxing rest in bed. As for the rest, go with your taste and style.

Materials Used for Garden Paving

Posted: 19 May 2011 03:06 AM PDT

Gardening typically takes place at private homes or at public buildings on a space referred to as a garden. Gardening can mean an art whereby plants are planted or grown for the aim of creating an extraordinary landscape. Although a lot of gardens are located on the ground, it is not uncommon to find some built on the rooftops. Gardeners are people who are in charge of the garden maintenance. Large gardens, commonly known as parks will often be tourist attractions.

garden paving

Water gardening, indoor gardening and outdoor gardening are the three broad classifications of gardening. Water gardening is the skill of growing plants near pools or ponds, with a basic water garden being a small water collection with plants. Indoor gardening on the other hand is the skill of making gardens in homes and in buildings whereby houseplants are used. Indoor gardens can further be used as natural heating or cooling units.

Gardening is done mainly for design purposes while farming is meant to grow food for human consumption. Moreover, farming is virtually done large scale than gardening – whilst food may be planted in a garden, it will only be consumed by the gardener and perhaps closes relatives. Gardening needs only few relevant tools, but extensive tools would be needed if one wanted to create even a moderate-sized farm.

Notably, pavers are an important part of any garden. A well-managed and executed garden paving project goes a very long way in bringing out the best and charm of the property in question. Should there be snow or rain, an unpaved garden can be slippery or muddy, and can even be eroded, meaning all your plants will be destroyed.

The first step when it comes to garden paving is to select the perfect paving design. Simply look at the available space in a creative and practical manner and you are sure to come up with the perfect paving design for your garden. There is a wide gamut of sizes, shapes, colors, and paving slabs that you can choose from, hence finding the perfect one will not be a big problem. By enhancing your outdoors, not only will you be sprucing up your home for passersby, it will increase the overall value of your home should you decide to sell it in future.

Garden paving materials are categorized into two: composite and stone materials. You can opt for manufactured composites which will come with much flexibility thanks to their wide range of colors and shapes. Pre-cast concrete pavers are also available in a wide gamut of colors, shapes, and sizes. You can also opt for poured concrete instead as it is very flexible when it comes to shaping, hence you can put your creativity to test when shaping it to your desired shape. Bricks, limestone, granite, and sandstone are all types of paving materials that you can use.

Rest assured there is something for every budgetary allocation and every taste and preference in terms of garden paving materials in the market. Take your time to search for the perfect one and you are sure to find something that will impress you.

Modern Morfeo sofa from Domoninanica

Posted: 19 May 2011 01:49 AM PDT

Among all the other beautiful and elegant furniture pieces that have been created by the Italian company Domodinamica there's also this unconventional and funny-looking sofa. It's called Morfeo and it has been designed by Stefano Giovannoni and Rodrigo Torres. It's a very unusual sofa mainly because of those lamps that are incorporated in the design. They are probably very useful and practical, but they also make this sofa look a little like an alien, since it's also green. But this is not something bad, because even if it looks like an alien, it's a friendly and very cozy one.

The structure of this unusual sofa is made of flexible polyurethane resin covered with elastic fabrics. Another interesting and very practical detail is the fact that this sofa is expandable and can be easily transformed into a very comfortable bed. The dimensions of this piece are w 200 x d 90 x h 80/145 for the sofa and w 200 x d 226 x h 80/145 for the bed version.

Certainly it has a very simple and neat design and the details that really make this sofa stand out are those funny lamps. The lamps are adjustable and provided with switches and they offer a very pleasant light for reading for example. The lamps look a little like two antennas, continuing the metaphor of the friendly alien.{found on trendir}

How to clean light fixtures and chandeliers?

Posted: 18 May 2011 08:15 PM PDT

Knowing how to properly clean light fixtures and chandeliers can assist largely in flaunting spotless light fixtures and chandeliers throughout the house. Clear and cleaned light fixtures besides appearing better, also shine more.   Undoubtedly, cleaned lights provide better sparkle, beauty and light than the lights which are ignored. It is assured that you will find that regularly cleaning the light fixtures is worth the effort and time.

First of all, you need to unplug the light fixtures and allow the bulbs to cool down. Some of the lights can be really hot and even cause burns if you are not careful. Once the bulbs have cooled down, secure them tightly into the sockets in order to prevent moisture from entering the sockets.

Secondly, an absorbent floor covering or towel should be placed underneath the light fixture in order to protect the flooring from the excess solution that may drip during the cleaning procedure.

The next step involves spraying the entire light fixture with a liquid cleaner, which is specially designed for cleaning light fixtures.

Ensure to select products, which are environment friendly and free from harmful chemicals. Keep it in mind that you should never spin the light fixture or chandelier as it may cause the crystals to fall off. The grime, dust and dirt will automatically run off and fall on the towel placed underneath.

Once the fixture has been allowed to drip dry for at least twenty to thirty minutes, use a soft hand towel or chamois cloth to carefully wipe off the cleaning solution in the lower parts that has not dripped. Your light fixtures will shine beautifully, and their age will also be increased.

Another method may also be used to clean the light fixtures, is known as the dry method. The method requires you to first spray the light fixtures with the cleaning solution. The next step involves carefully wiping down the cleaning solution with the help of a soft cloth to remove dust, dirt and grime. And the last step, involves using another fresh cloth to polish the light fixtures until they sparkle. Some people also prefer by taking the chandelier apart, and cleaning each part separately. However, this process is known to consume a lot of time and efforts, and is not feasible for monthly cleaning.
