| Librespiral bookcase by Gerardo Mari Posted: 14 May 2011 02:21 AM PDT Designer Gerardo Mari has created this unusual freestanding collection for Danese Milano. It's a collection composed of two freestanding bookcase designs. One of them is taller and not movable while the other one is equipped with wheels. The main idea behind this project was to create a bookcase that allows the user to have access to the piece from any angle. And the result was successful. The bookcase has a turning mechanism that allows you rotate the modules. It's just like a sunglass holder. The rotating mechanism is a really nice detail because not a lot of bookcases are as accessible as these ones. Usually bookcases are hard to access and you waste a lot of time when searching fir a particular book. But with this ingenious rotating system it's all easier. Of course, it might take more space than the usual mounted shelves or the suspended bookcases, but it has an interesting and practical design, and this is a big plus. These freestanding bookcases have an asymmetric but beautiful shape which gives them an original look. They come in different colors. There are mainly three color tones, black, white and orange and they are combined in different ways to get contrastive looks. The bookcases are made of coated steel so they are very durable, resistant and sturdy. The shapes of these bookcases are simple but striking. They would look great in a modern or contemporary home. |
| Futuristic Surgery Clinic by Geometrix Design Posted: 14 May 2011 01:09 AM PDT Ready for a glance at the future? If your answer is yes then be prepared to be amazed. Michael Miroshkin and Elen Miroshkina of Geometrix Design have created the interiors of a surgery clinic. The interior is white and grey which creates a clean, airy space, with very modern features such as body-shaped light fixtures, interesting chairs, unique office dividers and many more. You can also see some dazzling silver lighting that turns violet, which is the only strong color found throughout the entire place.
Furthermore you can observe stunning artwork and ingenious storage space. The bathrooms are another example of contemporary features due to the tile and bathroom furniture. In some of the rooms we found some brown walls that set off the futuristic pieces. The fascinating 3D renderings represent the very futuristic interiors of an interesting surgery clinic. Every room feels like taken from the future, and if it will really look like this, then we love it. |
| Cork Peg: an ingenious system from molo design Posted: 13 May 2011 01:36 PM PDT Cork Peg is a structure created by molo design which is a collaborative design and production studio in Vancouver, Canada. This an ingenious and innovative system formed from a number of wooden pieces that can be placed of a flat surface using a magnetic mounting system. This is clever and practical, but it's not all. This system also has a weight-bearing attribute. So an item is hung from the end of cork peg (like clothing), the total weight bearing capacity is 1.2kg (2.65 lbs); when an item is hung from the middle (like hobo lantern and bag or other small items) the weight bearing capacity is 2.2kg (4.85 lbs). It's a smart detail. So if your home lacks a hanging system, you should consider this one as a good choice because, not only that it's fun and ingenious, but it's also very practical. The magnetic system gives you the liberty to arrange the pieces in nay way you want. So it allows you to use your imagination and creativity so form a nice shape or to just think practical and to place them in a simple but functional form. This system is perfect for the hallways, where people usually hang their coats, bags, umbrellas and other items. Now they can do that with style thanks to this clever structure. It's a very versatile piece as it can be incorporated in a modern, contemporary but also a more traditional home décor. |
| Delicious Petit Beurre cushion Posted: 13 May 2011 11:28 AM PDT Everybody knows those little biscuits called Petit Beurre. It's a wide spread variety and they are usually appreciated by little children that like to eat them with milk or tea. They are very delicious and everyone has at least heard of them. So this cushion will look very familiar to you. It's a cushion shapes like a Petit Beurre biscuit. It's a very clever idea because the biscuit is already rectangular and has a simple design, so turning it into a cushion is not that hard. As you can see for yourself from the picture, it's a very cute and funny cushion that reproduces very accurately the biscuit. In fact, it looks as delicious as the biscuit itself. It would be a very good choice for modern or contemporary homes, for those who like to incorporate funny and interesting pieces in their interior décor. I can even imagine the living room and a simple sofa filled with a bunch of biscuit cushions. It's one of the funniest images you could create in your living room. This cushion can be found on Maxi Glob blog. So if you like it, you should just go ahead and purchase one or many two or three of them. It's a very versatile cushion. The unusual design makes it perfect for living rooms but also bedroom and especially kids' rooms. |
