Versatile pebble side table

Posted: 14 Apr 2011 06:59 AM PDT

A very interesting choice for a table design. Inspired from the nature, this table actually looks like a pebble. The almost round shape it's the reason why you would probably think this is not a good idea. Actually it's quite practical because the top it flat. It's made from cement concrete so it's not very light or easy to move, but I think the effort is worthed.

The dimensions of this unusual side table are 23″w x 15″d x 14″h. Because of the shape and the durable and resilient material used to craft it, this table is for both indoor and outdoor use. I think it's not necessary to mention that it also comes fully assembled. It's only available in one color: light gray, the natural color of a normal pebble. It can be purchased for $149. Bring the inside out, pr the other way around with this bold and original piece of furniture.

Puzzling 3-piece mirror

Posted: 14 Apr 2011 03:52 AM PDT

Everyone has a mirror in their home. It's not like you can just wake up and leave home without even consulting the mirror. It's a necessary piece. A lot of people like to have a big mirror in the bedroom to be able to see how they look from head to toe. And it's useful to see the entire image, to see how the whole picture looks like.

This is a combination between those tall mirrors and the small ones. 3 square smaller mirrors work together to form a bigger piece. And the result is a puzzling image. This way you can see how your face, your bust and your feet looks like separately and then use your imagination for the rest. Or you can flip the mirror and place it horizontally and then you have 3 smaller mirrors for 3 persons.

This is useful for a bigger family. This way everyone has a place near the mirror without having to wait their turn. Whatever option you choose, the result will be a positive one.

How to make the garden look bigger

Posted: 13 Apr 2011 06:00 PM PDT

One cannot actually create square footage but can definitely make some changes which will make the garden look much bigger than it actually is. It is true that some people want low maintenance yards which are generally smaller in size, but this is not necessarily true in all cases. Many people have children and want ample room for them to play around. People also want enough space in the yard so that guests could be entertained there by having barbeque parties for instance.

Cleaning out personal belongings out of the back yard is a good start. Overcrowding causes spaces to look small, whether they are inside or outside. If there are some essential items which cannot be removed, one should consider setting them up in a way so that they occupy lesser space. Moving the outdoor furniture up near the fence instead of the centre of the yard is a good idea.

Too much shade in the backyard casts a shadow and prevents the sun rays from getting through and brightening up the area.  One can trim the overgrown trees and other bushes. This does not help majorly but creates a contrast which makes the back yard look a little bigger. Oversized bushes make the garden look much smaller and cramped.

A number of other optical tricks could help in making the garden look bigger. One could cover the fences with plants so that the margins of the garden cannot be seen. This works much better if there is a neighbouring garden with plants looking over the fence as it gives an impression that the garden continues. A large mirror covering a wall gives an impression that the wall does not exist and the garden carries on. Another great idea is to erect an arch covered with climbing plants in front of a wall. Then the arch must be backed by a mirror to given an impression that the garden continues under the arch.

Creating walkaways also makes a garden look bigger. Adding a bench in the middle of tall plants could also do the trick sometimes. One can also make use of the curves to make the area look bigger. Curves made in a series of networks make the small space garden look much bigger. These curves need to be connected. Parallel curves also give an impression that the garden space is bigger than it actually is.

Everyone wants a clean and a healthy environment in the house. There are a number of ways in which one can ensure that the house stays clean and smells fresh at all times. This is absolutely essential for living a healthy life for all.

Roses are a great choice but there are many other flowers which could be used. They help in cleansing the air and make the house look cleaner and fresher. Apart from these, one could utilise plug in air fresheners. Subtle fragrances are nice to have in the house. Fabric sprays are also great as they leave a fresh scent and help in eliminating odours completely. Such sprays work best in treating smoke and pet odours.

Another home remedy could be to place baking soda under beds, sofas, closets etc. This is a very cheap and an effective method. Baking soda soaks up all the bad odours and helps in providing a fresh smell to the house. Boiling herbs is another technique. This provides a natural aroma in the house and is great if one is having guests around.

Scented candles are another great alternative to use around the house. One should look for the soy wax candles instead of the paraffin based waxes. Scented candles provide a lovely fragrance throughout the house. A potpourri mixture which contains dried petals and spices is also used to provide a wonderful smell in the house.
