| How to Arrange the Furniture in the Livingroom? Posted: 12 Feb 2011 01:09 AM PST People think it’s very easy to arrange the furniture in the house, especially in the living room. But it takes more than spreading the furniture pieces randomly in the living-room to obtain a good impression, a balanced livingroom design that feels welcoming, cosy and nice looking, all at the same time. The first rule in arranging the furniture in a livingroom is to see where the wall plugs are and to avoid covering them with any furniture. If you do that it will only make things more complicated, as you will not have easy access to the outlet and you will have to use extendable ones and this way you increase the hazard risk. So avoid covering them. The second tip is to spread the furniture in an even manner all over the livingroom. Avoid placing all the furniture in one place, for example one one side of the room or near the same wall, as it will be totally asymmetric and it will give the viewer the impression of a “sinking ship”. You remember the “Titanic”. Do not place the whole furniture against the walls. The living-room is a place where you are supposed to socialize, to talk to friends, so if the chairs and sofas are against the walls and away from each other – this will make the conversations impossible. SO make sure you create conversation areas like a sofa and two chairs placed around a coffee table. If the living-room has a large TV set, create the interest area around it.
Consider the room’s dimensions when arranging the furniture because you must not use too much furniture when the room is smaller or it will look really crowded. It is also important to leave enough space for traffic lanes, at least 20-24 inches. Nowadays people prefer the minimalist style in decorating the living-room, but you can make your own choices as long as you keep these basic rules.

| How to Decorate a Spring Green Bedroom Posted: 12 Feb 2011 12:19 AM PST Bedrooms are meant to be used when sleeping, so most people keep them as simple as possible. But you can use just a few ideas for decorating a very nice bedroom with little effort. First of all you should choose the dominant colour of the room after decorating. I recommend that nice shade of “spring green” as I call it, that very light green that is specific to spring plants when they are just appearing out of the ground. This particular colour is very relaxing and soothing and is perfect for a bedroom. You can paint only a wall of the room in the colour, preferably the one where the bed is. Paint the wall in this spring green and after that use the “sponging technique”. You can do this yourself, as this involves taking a small sponge and dipping it in paint and after that placing it on the green wall. This way you will obtain little “clouds” of the same colour and the effect will be really surprising. Purchase some light brown furniture, but make sure it has some insertions the same colour – spring green. Then choose the curtains and the bedding – in spring green, too. It does not have to be entirely this colour, but just to have some details, so as to match the whole idea of the room. Two light green lamp shades and two decorative candles will complete the picture and you will have a wonderful bedroom.

| Posted: 11 Feb 2011 04:07 PM PST I hate not knowing where I am going and asking all the people around the right address. That normally happens when you are in a new place where you don’t know the people and the houses and also because you either don’t know the address for sure or the houses do not have the numbers on them. And that’s frustrating. Plus all the neighbours look at you as if you were a robber and so on. So let’s make a pact and all of us use numbers on our homes. And since we do that, why don’t we use some nice looking numbers, made of shiny polished metal that can be applied on all kinds of surfaces. They will only improve the general look of the building and not make it look ugly. Here are a few examples of house numbers of different shapes and sizes that you can purchase from a specialized online shop for $147. The numbers are available in available in 4″, 6″, 8″, 12″ or 15″ high and are made of aluminum and have a high quality clear coat.

| Nambé “Love” Bowl Mini – a Nice Gift For Valentine’s Day Posted: 11 Feb 2011 03:48 PM PST Valentine’s Day is only two days away, again. And you still haven’t found anything for your girlfriend and you know she will never forgive you for that. Then how about this nice looking metallic mini bowl called Nambé “Love” Bowl. You can buy it for just $30 and it makes a very nice gift for this special holiday. It is heart shaped, so a symbol of love, so what else could be more appropriate for the celebration of love? What’s even nicer is the fact that this bowl is made of a very shiny allow that is perfect for engraving, so you can have your name written on it or a special message. It has 4.5″ in diameter and was designed by Sean O’Hara. It is perfect for your kitchen, as it is a refined piece of tableware. The special metallic alloy that was named after the company itself, Nambe, has unique thermal properties, so it can keep coolness inside – like storing some icecream in it or maybe using it for keeping the soup warm. You will love it and the price is a bargain. |
| DIANE von FURSTENBERG “Floral Batik” Bedding Posted: 11 Feb 2011 02:37 PM PST y idea of a pleasant bedding is to have cotton bed sheets with a nice colour and nice looking prints on, preferably floral or funny ones. This way I can have a nice image in front of my eyes before I falling asleep and having sweet dreams. So I found this wonderful offer on the Internet, from Bloomingdale’s: a nice set of Floral Batik beeding by DIANE von FURSTENBERG. The set sells in parts or entirely and shows a sweet print of large flowers in purple and light blue, with white dots. It includes: a duvet cover, a full flat sheet, a full fitted sheet, a pair of standard pillow cases, an euro sham, a standard sham, a “Batik Beaded” decorative pillow and a Twig decorative pillow. The texture of the fabric is soft and pleasant to touch and the big floral prints make the bedding really cute. All the feature make the set very comfortable to sleep in. It is merry and colourful and you can choose only parts of it if you want to and think that the whole floral set is too much for your bedroom.

| Posted: 11 Feb 2011 01:58 PM PST All I know about Copenhagen, the city capital of Denmark, is the fact that Hans Christian Andersen lived there and the fact that it has a nice landmark – the Little Mermaid statue. Well, I have recently found out one more interesting fact about it: there is a beautiful stained glass art house displayed right in the middle of the city. This amazing art house is made entirely of stained glass and it is lit from the inside at night. You can imagine how nice it glows in the dark, in the middle of the square where it was raised. This work of glass art was made by the New York artist called Tom Pruin. He reacted to the numerous lights in all the colours that he saw downtown Copenhagen and produced one of his own, in all the possible colours, using stained glass. Because the little art house has some light inside, it casts coloured light on the things around it and makes the surrounding places look amazing.

| SAYL Chairs from Herman Miller Posted: 11 Feb 2011 12:11 PM PST I don’t know about you but I simply hate office furniture when it’s summer and hot. All those good looking leather chairs are totally uncomfortable and make you sweat and your skin glues to the shirt and then to the leather chair making you feel totally bad. Even if you have air conditioning the interaction between the human heat and the chair seat is pretty unpleasant. That is why I have always appreciated a chair that lets your skin breathe, that is comfortable and lightweight, as I am a woman and I do not like carrying heavy things around. My ideal chair would be the SAYL chair from Herman Miller, by the designer Yves Behar. You can find this kind of chair in many colors, especially red and black and you can purchase it here for $399. But what makes this chair so special for me? It basically has no frame and it is built on the same basis as suspension bridges. This chair has the whole backseat full of holes and this allows your skin to breathe. That makes it really comfortable.
