Posted: 02 Feb 2011 11:07 AM PST There are so many things that you need in your house, but some of them are used more rarely than others and we need extra room for them to deposit. So it would be a good idea to have such useful items that will take as little space as possible and, hopefully to be attractive and to be funny, so that you can also use them for other purposes. And since space is of utmost important for Japan, a Japanese designer, Yasuhiro Asano from Asano Design Institute. This stand is made of synthetic rubber and can take a very little space on your hallway. It is perfect for depositing wet umbrellas, as the material is perfect for keeping the water inside it, so that you can throw it later, without splashing the whole house with it. Besides, when you don’t need it as it does not rain, you can immediately change its destination and use it as a flower vase or even a pencil stand on your desk. Not to mention the fact that it is really cheap and you can order it online for Japanese money (yen) and also for dollars – $94.

Babila Glass Shelves by Luca Casini Posted: 02 Feb 2011 10:09 AM PST Bookshelves are very useful when you want to place some things – books, vases, little decorations , within reach and also well stored there, on the shelves. Usually these shelves are made of wood, but sometimes people get imaginative and use other materials, too. For example the designer Luca Casini thought of using glass for his shelves. They are amazing. They offer support and storing space, but they are transparent and you can barely notice them on the wall. Every shelf is made of two halves that get united to form a nice and delicate rectangle, perfect for books, small figurines, clocks and other things you might want to place in plain view. These shelves are made of 10 mm thick glass that is heated and then curved in order to fit the necessary shape. You can combine more such halves and get some interesting modular shelves. These nice-looking shelves are supported by chromed brackets that look like shiny buttons against the white wall. The conclusion is that the shelves are both decorative and functional and you can see that on the manufacturer’s web site.

Posted: 02 Feb 2011 09:08 AM PST Today most people know how to operate a computer and many of use spend a lot of time playing computer games. Now the offer is very complex, but a few years ago the beginning belonged to Tetris. This game is very simple, yet addictive and it requires some skills to complete it : you must place some irregular geometric shapes that are made of little squares so that they for some rows without empty spaces and in this case the “bricks” that are stacked will disappear. This was the source of inspiration for the designer Julia Dozsa who made the project “Tetris mirrors” for Fiam Italia. These mirrors are modular, so they come in different shapes, very similar to the shapes in Tetris. This allows you to arrange them in any way that you want, adjusting the new shape according to the space that you have and to your own wish or inspiration. Besides, if you place the mirrors so as to reflect the sunlight, you can play a bit with the reflections and get special games of light in your house.

One of its attractions is waves. They create an image of dynamism and continuity. Their endless motion makes you think of the passing of time and the mysteries that sea can hide. Water Waves Carpet is designed by Edward Fields and imitates the waves of sea.He uses different nuances of the blue color and combines them with white. It creates a wonderful carpet that seems to reproduce the same endless move of the waves. If you look at it you have the illusion that the surface of the carpet is moving the same way the waves do. Educative Tree and Root Lamp by Kitae Pak Posted: 02 Feb 2011 06:49 AM PST Nowadays, more and more people think of becoming eco or green. Their preoccupation for keeping the environment clean and safe becomes more important. Everything that is green means a source of oxygen for us, so we should be careful to keep our green spaces as much and as many as we can.Recently cutting the trees has become a real problem. It has affected the environment and the natural phenomena too. Many people have tried to signal this problem.
Kitae Pak is one of these people and designed this Tree and Root Lamp.It is a lamp that has the shape of a tree while it functions and when it is switched off it has the shape of a tree root. It is a signal for those who abuse the tree cutting and do not think of the future of our planet and our life. Its design makes us feel closer to nature and makes us be more aware of the importance of nature. |
Posted: 02 Feb 2011 04:57 AM PST I am a curious person and I can’t stop wondering about everything that I see around me. So I used to wonder what exactly is so special about those seat covers the cab drivers used, those made of tiny wooden balls that were after that punched in the middle and put on a thread and then intricately woven so as to make a seat cover. That was until I actually sat on one of those things and I realized they were so …. comfortable. Even if the little beads are made of wood, so pretty hard, they offer you a comforting feeling and when you move on that thing you feel like someone or something is massaging your back. That explains the look of the Wood Chair designed by the guys from Front and manufactured by Moroso. This unusual looking chair is unique because of its appearance, as it looks like it has some foaming cover and all the foam is trying to get our and get over its margins. It is interesting to look at and also comfortable, reminding you of the tribal African decorations manufactured in the same way.

How to change the look of your home with wallpapers? Posted: 02 Feb 2011 04:01 AM PST Are you tired of your home wearing the same old and boring look? Do you wish to impart a fresh and new look to your home? If this is the case, then wallpapers can help you completely transform the look of your room. Wallpaper is a cheap, quick, effective and an easy way to impart a fresh look to the interiors of the home. It is also an excellent way to hide all sorts of unpleasant imperfections in the paint or plaster of the wall. Wallpapers are available in a variety of patterns, colors, designs and style, and can be easily installed in all parts of the home for a charming look. Follow the below mentioned steps to change the look of your room with wallpapers – 1) First of all, you need to select the model of wallpaper you wish to install on the walls. There are tons of wallpaper company's operating in the market and offering tons of designs and styles. You may select a single design or even go with two designs or patterns. However, assure that the wallpaper you select matches with the surroundings, furniture, and of course, your style and personality.
2) It is best if you can hire a professional to execute the process of pasting the wallpapers on the walls. The professional person will measure the height and width of the wall and stick the paper efficiently for a professional look. Alternatively, you may also stick the wallpaper on your own. 3) When sticking the wallpaper on your own, keep the layout of the paper in your mind. Work in one direction so that the pattern remains consistent. It is always better to start behind the door and finish it at the top corner. 4) Use wallpapering tools to finish the task easily and quickly. Use a seam- roller to assure that the seams are lying close and are flat. Get rid of the bubbles in the wallpaper with the help of a paper smoother. A razor or a taping knife can be used to pull the wallpapers in the corners. 5) If there is any cutting error in the wallpaper, then employ a marker of the same color of the wallpaper and use it to fill in the gaps. Most of the professionals do it this way to ensure that there no seams are visible. |
