Coral Lamp by Pallucco

Posted: 31 Jan 2011 10:38 AM PST

I think all marine creatures are absolutely amazing and corals are one of the most fascinating ones. That is because they look like plants, like flowers, but are actually tiny animals that live in colonies and die remaining still in the colony. These tiny creatures were the source of inspiration for the Italian designer Pallucco, who designed the Coral Lamp. This lamp can be a floor lamp or a table lamp , looking magnificent either way.

The idea was to create a lamp that would be capable of casting pure light without interfering with it and disturbing it with the lamp shade and also to look unique and breathtaking. Apparently he succeeded all these. The tiny arms of the “coral” spreads all around the neon, making it look surreal or maybe under water like. The base of the lamp is made of coated steel and all the thin “branches” are made of injection moulded polycarbonate. Each branch can have a different color and the combinations are very tasteful. There is a certain repetition in the arranging of the branches, but it also looks regular and simple at the same time.

If you are interested, you can buy one of these lamps for a price between $2133 and 2344.

Lime Slice Table by Carl Chaffee

Posted: 31 Jan 2011 10:14 AM PST

I don’t know why I have a thing for unusual stuff, no matter what that is. It gives me a better idea of the owner’s personality than all the “fashionable” things that only tell me that the guy having it likes to copy other people’s style. Any way, looking for a small unique coffee table I found this amazing lime slice table that was designed by Carl Chaffee. I liked it from the very first sight, as it looked just like the old lime slices jellos I used to eat when I was a kid. The resembles is all the more accurate as the table top is made of a resin that imitates perfectly the look of a lime slice.

The design is amazing because it reproduces the lime slice to the tiniest detail. You can see the lime seed, three of them – all arranged at equal distance from one another, everything surrounded by an almost real lime peel. The base of the table is made of chrome and it has a bunch of thin “feet” for support. You can place an order on the manufacturer web page.

How to create a romantic bedroom with feng shui?

Posted: 31 Jan 2011 07:14 AM PST

Has the excitement of your love life died? Do you feel irritated and boring in your bedroom? Well, if this is so, then how about giving your bedroom a romantic makeover and too with feng shui. Feng shui is nothing but an ancient art of decorating the environment in support of the life one wishes to live. Feng shui is all about of balance. It shall help you create your own romantic paradise and ignite back the flames of your love life.

Here is a list of some basic ways to create a romantic bedroom with the guidelines of feng shui –

Clean your bedroom - First of all, you need to clear all the clutter and junk from your bedroom so that positive energy can flow through the room easily. Clutter is known to block the flow of positive energy (known as "chi" in feng shui). Things like books, dirty clothes, and other miscellaneous junk items should all be removed. The area under the bed should also be cleaned and kept clutter- free.  In addition, also remove things that remind you of your past or past relationships.

Remove the television and the computer from the bedroom – whether you agree or not but computer and television are literally energy suckers. They are known to affect the relationship and snatch away your partner's attention.

Make room for love – if you wish to reignite love in your life, you need to get rid of all objects related to loneliness and make room for objects that represent love. Single pieces are also known to represent loneliness such as a single flower vase, a single photo frame, sculpture or more. Instead, the objects should be arranged in pairs to portray union such as two candles, two tables, two paintings and more. Pictures of both of you together as a couple should be displayed in the room.

Water elements should be removed from the bedroom – Look for water elements in your bedroom and move them out of the bedroom. Besides killing the flames of romance, they are also known to cause a financial downfall.

Use right colors – Feng shui emphasize a lot on colors. Cool pastel colors such as blue, gray, white and more should be completely avoided. Instead, colors such as red, orange, pink, burgundy, are believed to be ideal for the bedroom.

Degas House – Art Bed and Breakfast

Posted: 31 Jan 2011 06:37 AM PST

Museums are very beautiful places where you can admire the things from the past, tings that are very well kept and that were touched by people at least a hundred years ago. But you are only a visitor there, you watch, see and go. What would you say if you had the chance to rent a room that was designed just like one a century old? Well, I know I would be excited. But I have just found out that other people had this idea, too, and they made it come true. Thos who take care of Edgar Degas Memorial House in New Orleans have found an incredible way of making money: they rent the second and third floor of the building where the memorial is located and they keep the rooms with the exact atmosphere of the days when the famous Impressionist lived there.

The Inn (bed and breakfast) has a very authentic interior design and all the rooms , though reconditioned and provided with modern means of heating and lighting, keeps the general atmosphere of the time when Degas lived and painted there. You can admire over eighty reproductions of Degas’ works all over the Inn, on the walls and you can enjoy finding out the history of the place.
