Nowadays, modern homes tend to choose functionality over elegance or style. This means people have become more practical and more preoccupied about this aspect instead of just going for exterior beauty that does nothing than please the eye. Ingenious “make-a-table” project by yael zwickel

A lot of people seem to be interested in ingenious projects that provide them with ideas and pieces that can help them build their own furniture or that can teach them how to reuse items that they no longer need. It’s fun and very practical. It also provides us with very original pieces and great ways of decorating our homes.

One project that fits these criteria is called "make-a-table" and it was designed by yael zwickel who is an Israeli design student. E created this piece as part of his studies and it seems to be very appreciated. The project consists of cast metal legs that can be easily attached to any object or item that fits the shape and form criteria. The result will be a one-of-a-kind table that you can create yourself. It’s an interactive project that offers great freedom to the user. This means you can choose basically anything you want and you can even use multiple pieces to create a truly original piece that fits your personality and that perfectly integrates into your interior design.

At the moment the product is still a work in progress and it’s not available for sale yet. Hopefully it’s going to be put on the market soon and we will all be able to use it to create our own table.{found on designboom}

Granite Verona Kitchen

Granite has become a very popular material n the kitchens. It's mostly used for table tops because it's very resistant and it doesn't scratch easily. Even if it does, it still looks good, unlike the wood or glass. But granite is not used just for table tops but also for other pieces as well. There are also sinks made of granite and even cabinets. In fact, today we're going to present you an entire kitchen made of granite.

It's called Verona and it's a very classy kitchen design. Almost everything is made of granite. As you can imagine, it's a very sturdy design, resilient to almost everything and beautiful-looking too. If you have at least one granite piece in your home then you know hoe heavy it is. So getting this furniture into your kitchen and putting it in place will not be a piece of cake but hopefully you'll only need to do this one and then you can relax and enjoy your new kitchen.

Verone features a combination of a sink, cooking place and storage areas, all in one big unit. There are also shelves and dividers between these areas. Modular wall unit: Sintesi by Carlo Colombo

It's a well-known fact that modern furniture designs are simple and even minimalist. That's because the emphasis is on functionality and not on looks. This doesn't mean that they are less beautiful than the traditional ones. On the contrary, the effect is stronger when the design is simpler and the only the important details are visible. The overall image is lighter and more aesthetically pleasing.

This theory can be easily verified if we take a look at Sintesi, a modern wall unit designed by Carlo Colombo. Sintesi is a minimalist piece of furniture that allows the user to feel free modifying its structure and designing his own piece, according to his needs and preferences. So Sincesi is a modular piece. This also means that there's not a single standard look that could be attributed to this particular piece. Overall, regarded of the combination you choose to make, the accent is on horizontal lines. There will always be a base structure where the TV will be standing, either places on the unit or hanging on the wall or on a panel that can be placed there.

There are several different options in terms of suspended cabinets and shelves. They provide extra storage space for things like CDs, DVDs, electronic devices and other gadgets.
