Dear Members,
This is just a friendly reminder regarding a couple of rules which are not being followed by members. Hopefully this will eliminate any bad feelings among people when items are offered and given away.
First, your generosity in offering items is always appreciated. It's what keeps Freecycle going. It's your opportunity to give away items you no longer want and someone else's opportunity to make use of those items, thereby keeping them out of landfills.
However, if you OFFER three or more items, it would be appreciated by other members if you could list them on one post. The most likely reason people request to be taken off our list is too many e mails. So if you could put three or more on one listing per day that would be great. Obviously, that may not be possible for TAKEN postings since people come at different times, but any time you can reasonably do that, it would be appreciated by all.
If you have a great number of items, the post could be general:
OFFER: Many Household Items (City)
Then give some description in the text of the message.
Along with that, when people express interest in something which you have listed, please be sure you promise it just to that person with arrangements for pick up. Don't tell them whoever gets there first gets it.
I know it can be frustrating when you do offer something and the responder doesn't come to pick it up as arranged, but a way to avoid a problem with that is to tell them if they don't come as arranged, you will keep a list and go to the next person on the list if they don't show up within a specific time frame.
