The Frivole Prestige Salon by Theza Architects

Posted: 09 Aug 2012 11:00 AM PDT

Located in Wrocław, Poland, Frivole Prestige is a flagship salon. It's located in the recently opened Sky Tower and it's a salon of the Frivole perfumery network. This one is based mainly on the outlet sales. The salon was a project developed by Theza Architects. It covers an area 240.0 square meters and it was completed in 2012.The Frivole network is known for its consistent designs that always follow the same pattern.

They include a background featuring the classical black and white color combination that is complemented by colorful additions. Also, they always have polygons as part of their design. This salon is no different. Its interior is a combination of monochromatic structures and colorful accent elements. The polygonal structures are also a great attraction. The main accent color used here is brushed gold.

The interior of the salon is divided into two zones. One is mainly white while the other is black and contains the spaces along the passage. These zones also contain specific types of products. The polygonal block is the main attraction of the salon. It's golden on the outside and white on the inside. This block contains the manicure, massage and waiting rooms. The sales floor space is a flexible area divided into several spaces such as the cash counters and the makeup area. The golden accents are in fact not only specific only to this salon but to the entire Sky Tower so a continuous décor was also created.

3-room apartment with balcony in Södermalm

Posted: 09 Aug 2012 10:17 AM PDT

This lovely apartment is located in Södermalm, in a beautiful building with charming courtyards and nice views. What is today a large home was once a series of two apartments. They had two separate entrances and, even after combining them to form a single volume, they maintained their original internal structures so returning them to their original form would be relatively easy.

The apartment features a large hall with ample storage for coats and two large closets with incorporated cabinets that almost reach the ceiling. The hall has tiled floors and yellow-painted walls. There's also another large inner hall. This area could be used as a work space. The kitchen is modern and features a bright décor with white furniture and doors and sand-colored tiles. It is equipped with an electrical cooker, fridge, freezer and a new dishwasher. The walls are covered with floral wallpaper.

The living room is connected to a west-facing balcony. It's a large and bright space with hardwood flooring and pale yellow walls. The apartment also has two bedrooms of different sizes. The larger one features the same views as the living room, has pine floors and pale green walls and has plenty of space for a large wardrobe. The second bedroom is slightly smaller and has windows overlooking the courtyard. The apartment is listed at 3.695 million SEK.

Office Drafting Chair

Posted: 09 Aug 2012 09:58 AM PDT

Offices are usually very simple in design and have only comfortable and sober furniture. Every once in a while you will see some interesting items that were brought by some interesting people who want to personalize their office, too, and make it a place where you feel fine and where you can leave your personal touch. This Office Drafting Chair is such an item and it shows personality. It has an industrial design that was best defined in the second part of the twentieth century. It is made in the USA and the materials used for manufacturing it are Steel and Maple. It also has a nice gray powder-coated finish on the welded steel base .

The seating and the back rest are made of maple wood and are curved so as to follow the natural shape of the human body. The base is pretty interesting as it has five small legs supporting a steel circle that further links the upper part of the five legs until they are all gather in a bunch, leaving a single steel support for the chair seating. This giant “screw’ makes the chair height adjustable, so that you can make it perfectly comfortable for any person sitting there. The price for the item is $288.

7 Easy Ways To Use Benches In The House

Posted: 09 Aug 2012 08:52 AM PDT

Benches are more useful inside the house than you may think. They provide extra seating for guests and a touch of uniqueness to a simpler space. Not only can you find benches in all sizes, shapes and colors, but you can also find plenty for a fairly inexpensive price (or even thrifted). Check out all these fun, inspiring ways to use wooden benches around your home.

1. At the front door entry.

Using a cute, quaint and adorable little wooden bench at your front door entry is a great welcoming piece. It’s warm and stylish at the same time. Add some fresh flowers or greenery to really bring the doorway to life.

2. In the foyer.

Another way to welcome your guests, find a place for a comfy, little bench inside your foyer. It adds a little personality and is a great place to sit down a take your shoes off, so it’s functional too!You can even use underneath the bench as a place to store shoes and keep them out of sight.

3. Under a bay window.

Create a little reading nook or a cozy place to sip your coffee and watch the kids play outside in the morning. Nestle a cushioned bench underneath your bay window and make sure you add a lot of pillows and blankets to keep it comfy!

4. At the foot of the bed.

Another great place to sit down and put on your shoes, pack up your bags for vacation or add a little charm to your bedroom is at the foot of the bed. Find something with a bit more style and fashion for the bedroom but make sure it’s fits your vision for the room too.

5. In the dining room.

This is my favorite way to use a bench! Place a funky bench on the side of your dining room table instead of chairs. It adds some fun, personality and surprise to a usually uniform area.

6. At the desk in the office.

Have a meeting at home? Or have a friend over for some coffee? Place a quirky bench in front or next to your desk so you can chat and get some work done too!

7. In the living room.

Everyone needs extra seating, especially when the whole family is over. But why not do something fun!? Adding a bench to the area sprucing things up in a lighter way than adding an extra couch or loveseat.

DIY hanging storage containers for the kitchen

Posted: 09 Aug 2012 07:10 AM PDT

There are lots of things you can craft and lots of DIY projects that you can make in order to make your kitchen more practical and organized. Storage is usually the biggest problem so you might want to focus on that at the beginning. A nice example for this matter would be this set of three storage containers. They are great for fruit or spices.

Here's how you can make them. First gather the necessary supplies. These are an awl, a hammer, rust-oleum metal primer, gloss enamel spray paint, S hooks, a small chain and pliers. Then get to work. Start by punching three holes around the edge of each tin. Use the awl and a large nail for this part. The holes need to be evenly spaced. Then prime the tins with the metal primer and let them dry. Spray paint in the color of your choice and, again, let it dry.

Then attach a small chain with S hooks through one holes of each tin. Start with the largest one and squeeze the hook shut with pliers. Do the same for the rest of the holes. After that, gather all three chains at the top and use a larger S hook to hang them from a reinforced hook in the ceiling or from any other element you have available. It will be a nice display and a practical way of storing fruit, spices and other items.{found on countryhome}.

Eclectic residence in Idaho decorated in black and white

Posted: 09 Aug 2012 06:39 AM PDT

Located in Boise, Idaho, this house caught our eye with its interesting interior design. It features a combination of styles and influences that are often used together but in this case there's also something else that makes this place unique. Maybe it's the simplicity of the décor despite the multitude of decorations and accessories or maybe it's the color theme.

The house was decorated in black and white. It's a very restrained color palette, a classical combination and a timeless mix. Even though it might seem simple to only have two colors to focus on, sticking to a black and white mix can be very difficult, especially when you also have a toddler room to decorate. In this case, the challenge was successfully completed. The house is occupied by a couple and their toddler son. It covers a total area of 1,300 square feet and it contains two bedrooms and a studio.

The couple enjoys simplicity and they also wanted to reflect this in the décor of their home. It's one of the reasons why they chose these colors to begin with. However, they don't like monotonous designs so, to compensate for that, they chose a mixture of styles. They combined vintage with modern and created their own style. To keep the house clean and organized, the couple opted for wall storage. This way they made their home feel more open and airy.{found on A Merry Mishap}.

The Luminaire Duo Made From Recycled Cork by Studio Ninho

Posted: 09 Aug 2012 06:00 AM PDT

The Luminaire Post is an ingenious creation of Brazilian designers Vinícius Lopes Leite and Gabriela Kuniyoshi of Studio Ninho. They designed this piece as a combination of two elements, a lamp and a message board. The inspiration came from two distinct ideas but they managed to bring them together in a harmonious composition and to help them become one.

The idea behind the project is quite clever. Since it serves both as a message board and a lamp, you'll be able to use post-its with reminders and to stick them to the surface of the lamp. This way you'll always be reminded of what needs to be done every time you turn on the light and when you turn it off. It's a clever idea that has the potential of being very successful. Correlating something that we use on a daily basis with something that needs to be done and that we need to be reminded of was ingenious and smart.

The Luminaire Post doesn't have just a double function but it also features a very interesting design. It's been crafted from recycled cork, an unconventional material, especially for a lamp. The choice of materials was very important for the lamp's other function. The designers managed to turn an ordinary lamp into an even more functional item and to allow it to stand out through its practicality and not its actual design. The lamp is assembled with simple pins and fittings by the user. It offers soft, warm light.
