Ideas for a balanced interior décor with pink accents

Posted: 04 Aug 2012 08:59 AM PDT

Pink is a risky color. If used excessively it will make your home look like a Barbie house. It's why most people avoid this color and even despise it. Nevertheless, when used with measure, pink can be a great accent color that instantly makes your home look fresh, friendly and dynamic. But keep in mind that it's still a difficult color that is difficult to match with other shades.

Some beautiful color combination using pink include shades of white, grey, black or orange. Other colors could be successfully used but it all depends on a number of other factors as well. Also, not all the rooms would look equally beautiful in pink. The living room could easily adapt to such a bold color as it's a social area also designed for entertainment. A dynamic décor is always a good idea. You can pink as an accent color for elements such as decorative pillows, lighting fixtures, tugs or artwork.

The bedroom is another room where pink would feel warm and cozy. Pastel shades would be a particularly good idea. You can include for example elements such as pink curtains, bedding, a pink rug or beanbag. Pink furniture is risky and it's difficult to mix and match with other pieces. But in a white décor it could be a beautiful and bold addition. You can also use pink in other spaces as well, like for the example your home office, the bathroom or the kitchen. The amounts should be small and only used as accent features.{picture sources:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10}.

Unique Pages Chair Design

Posted: 04 Aug 2012 05:38 AM PDT

I am a man who saw a few things in his life and I still get knocked out my some designs. I'm not very easy to impress and I usually have a cold judgment but some things continue to surprise me.Take these chairs for instance! I forgot all about my judgment and something inside me says:" I love them" and to be honest what's not to like? They have a really simple design and from experience we know that keeping it simple actually makes things great and great colors.

I don't know how designers from 6477 came up with this particular model and I don't want to investigate because it's probably something in the "eureka moment" style, but it's great.  I remember I had an old calendar with 365 pages and on each page a saying was written and as each day passed by more and more pages were ripped and towards the end of the year my calendar was looking exactly like the one with the pink top. The frame that originally kept all the sheets together looked half empty.

The interesting fact of this marvelous design is the way you can change its appearance and function. Just turn on the "pages" and you get yourself a new face of the chair with a very comfortable back rest, for the maximum amount of support, providing a really good seating experience.Perfect for a modern interior these chairs will definitely draw all the attention towards them.

Eco-friendly and energy efficient house

Posted: 04 Aug 2012 05:04 AM PDT

Despite the fact that it's located in Iceland, this house is actually a very cozy and warm family retreat. It's a building located in Reykjavik, Iceland and it was designed by Minarc. The project was completed in 2011 and it covers an area of 1,500 square feet. The clients wanted it to be a serene family sanctuary, a place where they can relax and feel close to nature. They also wanted it to be sustainable and eco-friendly and to bring them closer to nature by protecting it.

The architects used sustainable and eco-friendly materials as well as energy-efficient technologies and combined them with a minimalist design. The house has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, as well as an additional loft. The design of the house is focused on functionality and the goal was to provide a friendly and healthy environment for its inhabitants. The region where it was built features beautiful surroundings and is strongly committed to preserve them.

The architects focused on choosing the right materials to allow them to maximize the passive solar power and cross ventilation thus minimizing the cost for electricity and the use of artificial power. They also tried to use organic materials. The house has to carpet or air conditioning, features elevated decks and floors to reduce the impact on the natural ground and it also features large windows that lets in plenty of natural light. The exterior area includes an outdoor shower and a vegetable garden.{pictures by Torfi Agnarsson}.

A table with built-in baby seat by Toa Ringyo

Posted: 04 Aug 2012 03:20 AM PDT

Children that are 1-2 years old usually seat in special chairs designed just for them. But, even though the chairs were particularly for their safety and comfort, they still refuse them and prefer to sit with their parents at the table. They can't wait to grow up and sit like adults at the dining table. There's a way of allowing them to do that without sacrificing their safety.

This is a table that has a built-in baby chair. This way you and your baby can sit at the same table. The seat is like a picket attached to it. It allows you to work while your child sits safely with you but not in your lap where he would incommode you. It also allows you to always keep an eye on him and teach him to sit elegantly at the table, draw, play or watch you work. He will also feel like an actual part of the family during dinner.

The table can be placed in the living room or dining area. It's a multifunctional piece of furniture that also serves as a desk. Its overall dimensions are w100 × d400 × h370. It was designed by Toa Ringyo in 2008. As your child grows up, the table can be turned into a desk. The area that he used to sit in can be used as a storage space for paper or other things. It would make a nice desk that can be put in his room. The table is made of Japanese beech and has a natural finish and a minimalist design.

Electric Blue Orgone Chair by Marc Newson

Posted: 03 Aug 2012 10:41 PM PDT

I love modern furniture and I also love having unusual items around the house because I honestly believe they are the ones giving personality and beauty to your home. And I do find lots of interesting models of furniture in the stores, but sometimes I find the best things for me on vintage shops , both online and in different real locations. For example this beautiful Electric Blue Orgone Chair by Marc Newson is no longer manufactured, because its blooming period was back in the 1970s, but it looks so cool and electric that I think it will bring a bit of modernism and eccentricity to any home.

The design of this chair is very interesting and it belongs to the artist called Marc Newson. He seemed to have used the mold of the torso and the lower back of a person for the backrest and seating, but they are very much stylized and looking great. The chair is made of rotation-molded polyethylene, which is the favourite material of the modern designers because it is lightweight and resistant at the same time and it can also be molded into different shapes, as the designer sees fit and inspired. The chair is empty on the inside and supported by four short and stout legs. The item is in perfect condition and available for $2,900.

Beautiful Blue Seagull Rug

Posted: 03 Aug 2012 11:40 AM PDT

Our planet is covered with water more than two thirds, so many people live near the water permanently, on the beach or on the seashore. Especially now, in summer, when people are on holiday and the weather is really fine out there, we feel so nice near the water. That is why the beach is the favourite holiday destination for many people. But if you want to have this feeling in your home all year long, you can get one of these beautiful Beautiful Blue Seagull Rugs. The rug is simple in design and you can see the light blue background of the rug and the white silhouettes of the seagulls.

This combination of colours is very interesting and it also offers the sensation of space. If you place the rug near a big window it will be even more obvious that it gives a large perspective and makes the room “breathe”. The back of the rug is in the same colours, except the fact that the seagulls are blue and the background white. Any way, the rug is not very large, having just 4′x6′, but it would be perfect for the kids’ room or the living room. The rug is now available on B.B. Begonia for $48.
