Modern Nest Chair for Outdoors and Indoors

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 09:49 AM PDT

I find nature and the animal world pretty amazing because it is such a complex system that is governed by itself and which keeps a perfect balance that you can hardly believe there is nobody up there guiding their every move. for example i think it is absolutely mind-blowing to watch the way small birds make their nest: they seem driven by a higher power when start looking around for bits of wood, grass, feathers, little twigs and so on – anything they could use in making a nest. They simply gather all these by instinct and then they start weaving the nest in a most intricate way that would take us months to learn. The nest is also the source of inspiration for this beautiful Modern Nest Chair for Outdoors and Indoors.

This nest chair is actually made of black powdercoated rustproof aluminum, which makes it perfect both for indoor and for outdoor use and also for being carried around the house with no real effort. The frame is covered with handwoven, partially recycled, UV-resistant black resin wicker. The weaving looks great and the cushions are covered with Polyester cushion covers. It is very important to take care of this piece of furniture, even if it is new in the pictures, so make it look its best when washed with mild soap and shampoo. It is made in China and it is a sort of mini-replica of the bird’s nest view stadium. The item can be bought for $399.

Flexible and Multifunctional NINO Office System

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 07:26 AM PDT

Everyday I try to clean and arrange my desk so that the number of things I have on it can be reduced to minimum. Unfortunately my effort is in vain as the multitude of objects does not seem to disappear so that my desk is always busy with all sorts of things. As it is common working area with my husband and a place where our little daughter's things appear on it, this situation becomes explainable in a way. Perhaps a flexible and multifunctional NINO Office System would be a solution to my problem.

NINO Office System is a piece of furniture which consists of a stand that can support satellite objects which can be assembled easily. It represents Arianna De Luca's project which encourages dynamic work, working in group and flexibility. It can be used as a hanger for things like an umbrella, a bag or a support for a laptop, a cup of coffee, a glass or a book.

This multifunctional office system represents a way to save money for the companies which invest a lot of money in working stations that are used only a few hours a day. It is also a modern variant to the classic office desk which are full of files, books, different office accessories or computers and do not let you have a mobile position or collaborate with your mates in a comfortable and easy way. If you become interested in such a great office system you will be lucky to see it in an exhibition at New Designers 2012 at Design Business Centre in London.

Stylish Chelsea apartment with a contemporary interior

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 05:48 AM PDT

This apartment has an interior decorated by the design fairy herself. Well, it was actually the interior design studio The Design Fairy but the result was magical nonetheless. It's a beautiful British apartment located in the Royal Borough of Chelsea and Kensington, London, England. It covers an area of 1859 square feet and it was renovated in 2011.

The apartment has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and it's very serene and charming. That's because the designers focused on creating a light, bright and open interior. They wanted to make the most out of this space and to use everything in their favor. The double height spaces were beautiful from the start and had great potential. The team created an open plan area that includes the kitchen, the dining and the lounge, entertaining spaces. This way the space was maximized and the atmosphere instantly become airy and light.

To continue in the same direction, the designers used light, silk soft furnishings and finishes. They also took advantage of the beautiful black floors and used them to create color contrasts with the carpets, the walls and the furniture. The result was a contemporary interior with a delicate and stylish décor and a flexible structure that makes it perfect for relaxation for also for receiving guests. As you can see, the Design Fairy managed to be successful one again in creating a magical interior décor. You can use the studio's services too. They specialize in interior design via a remote service.{picture by Richard Wadey}.

10 DIY driftwood decoration ideas

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 03:36 AM PDT

Driftwood is a form of marine debris and it usually becomes a form of shelter and food for birds, fish and other aquatic species. However, it can also be used as part of decorative furniture and other art forms. It's a popular element in fish tanks and it can also be used to create other types of decorations for the home and even some practical items. We have selected 10 examples to illustrate this idea.

1.Driftwood wall garden.

This is a beautiful decoration for the house and a way of introducing a piece of nature inside. To make a similar decoration you need a piece of driftwood, hooks, nails and some air plants that don't need soil. You should first clean the wood to get rid of the eventual bugs and unwanted bacteria and then screw the hooks to hang it on the wall. Add the plants and it's done. The plants need either to be placed in water once or twice a week or to be sprayed with water occasionally.{found on enderbynest}.

2. Driftwood cloth hangers.

Another thing you can make using driftwood is a cloth hanger. It's a practical item and it will also have a unique look. For this project you'll need some dry tree branches or pieces of driftwood, wire cutters, pliers, a saw, a drill and glue. Start by peeling off the bark from the branches so that your cloths won't get dirty. Then drill a hole in the middle of the branch and attach the hook using strong glue. Let it dry and your hanger is ready.{found on site}.

3. Driftwood table lamp.

Some more complex items can also be made using driftwood. You'll need patience and creativity. A driftwood lamp, for example, would be a very beautiful and unique decoration for any home. In this case, the project can go in two directions. You can either make a permanent or a temporary lamp. In both cases you'll need pieces of driftwood. To make a temporary one you just need to fix the driftwood pieces to the base of a lamp with wire or tape. In you want to make a permanent lamp you can just use glue to keep everything together.{found on sweetsomethingdesign}.

4. Driftwood wreath.

A great idea for a decoration would also be a wreath. This is an item that you can make when you have a bunch of small driftwood pieces but no idea what to do with them. The wreath is really simple to make. You just need to glue together the driftwood pieces to form a circle. Hot glue is preferable in this case. The wreath would make a nice decoration for the entrance door or for the wall.{found on alisaburke}.

5. Driftwood candle holder.

Candle holders are classical decorations in any home. There are lots of them and they can be found in any store. But if you want something different, something unique, you can make your own decoration using something as simple as a piece of driftwood. You'll need a long piece of driftwood, candle lights, a drill, a spade, tape measure, a flat head screwdriver or a chisel and a hammer. Mark the places where you want the holes to be and then drill holes using a space bit. You can also use a screwdriver and a hammer. Put the candles in the holes and your decoration is complete.{found on restorationhouseblog}.

6. Driftwood stand.

A beautiful piece of driftwood can also be sued to make a peg or stand. Simply attach it to the wall using hooks or nails and leave it as such or add some rope like in this case. You'll be able to make a beautiful and ingenious decoration for any room of the house, including the bathroom. The rope will serve as a support system for shelves or, in this case, decorative panels with all sorts of messages written on them.{found on theletteredcottage}.

7. Driftwood coat rack.

Another very useful item for any home is a coat rack. If you want to create something original you can make one yourself using a tree branch or a piece of driftwood. The hive jar pendant lamps

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 01:57 AM PDT

Lots of designs are inspired by elements from nature. Bee hives always presented interest to us so it seems natural to see designs inspired by them. The Hive is a set of three pendant lamps and not only that they have a beautiful design but they also have a very charming look that adds rustic beauty to any interior.

The set includes 2 half gallon and a quart-sized jar pendant lamps. They have a unique rustic charm that is difficult to recreate. The transparent glass jars are wrapped in rope and their shape along with the texture and color of the rope make them resemble a bee hive. These pendant lamps would be particularly suitable for a porch, patio or deck but they can be very charming indoor as well. The quilled bees are only for presentation and they are not included.

The set includes three pendant lamps and is available at the price of $120. The lamps can either be hung from the ceiling, tree or any other structure or they can be simply placed on the table. They come with a white cord and it can be hung with the help of two hooks and plugs. They come with instructions. Because of their nature, the lamps needed to have holes in the lid to release the heat. They are very beautiful and can be accessorized if needed.

A shared office space designed by ZEST Architecture

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 01:11 AM PDT

It's uncommon for two companies to share the same office space. They usually prefer their own office where they can almost feel like home. The reason for that is mostly privacy and the need be undisturbed. However, two companies can share the same office, provided that the interior design was created for this purpose. This office is the best example for that.

Designed by ZEST Architecture, this office is shares by an architecture firm and an e-commerce business. It's located in Gracia, Barcelona and it basically consists of a large, open space. The reason why this arrangement works is because of the architecture and the ingenious designs solutions adopted by the architects. First of all, the space was organized in multiple areas. Then the usual individual work stations were replaced by work tables. They can accommodate a variable number of people so it's suitable for both many and few people.

The furniture was crafted with bamboo panels and the desks were made of natural oiled pine. The floor is covered by polished silver cement with integrated electricity sockets. Inside the office there's a large box that functions as a meeting area and presentation space while also serving as a storage space with bookshelves and compartments. Inside the box the zone is free from distractions. The whole office is a flexible space designed for multiple situations and activities.

Elegant and inviting Hollywood house

Posted: 27 Jul 2012 12:21 AM PDT

This house is what you would expect a Hollywood home to be like but it also has that familiar side that any other home has. It's a residence located in Hollywood Knolls – Los Angeles, California and it's the home of designer and owner of clothing brand MYNE, Ashley Ann. She's been living here for seven years but only owned the place for two years.

It's a space where she likes to relax and spend time with her beautiful dog but it's also a space that she enjoys sharing with friends. It's a home that can be both cozy and opened for fun and entertainment. Ashley likes to be creative and to find new uses for everyday items. She also immediately likes the character of the house so she preserves most of the original details, including the brick floors in the kitchen. She describes her style as being modern eclectic with a vintage twist and we can immediately see what she's talking about as soon as we take a look around her house.

Modern furniture is something that the owner likes in particular because of the simple lines. However, she often finds it to seem empty or stark so she adds vintage details and accessories such as those beautiful Moroccan rugs or the lovely pillows. These are elements that give personality to a space. Ashley also likes to play with prints and she tried to introduce them and integrate them in all the rooms.{found on apartmenttherapy}.

6 Ways To Decorate & Dress Your Window Sills!

Posted: 26 Jul 2012 11:00 PM PDT

Unfortunately, too many times we forget the details of our house. Small nooks and crannies don’t get paid any attention to and parts of the home go bare. Window sills are one of those places. Which is a shame since there are so many wonderful, adorable ways to decorate them!!

Check out these 6 ways to decorate and dress up your window sills … and have them become more stylish than ever in just one afternoon!

1. Create a reading nook.

Are the ledges of your window sill wide enough to hold a book? If so, you’ve got a perfect place to create a small, adorable reading nook. Add pillows for comfort and ease and maybe even a light for some evening skimming. This is such a relaxed, romantic way to dress up a larger window sill and of course, a prize for the avid reader and lover of the written word.

2. Create a tiny garden.

Showcase your green thumb with beautiful, small plants in different types of canisters. Tea cans, mason jars, glass bottles or even some old fashioned pots … there are so many possibilities. Add pretty, delicate and bright flowers or even some kitchen herbs to create an organic, natural beauty spot for your home.

3. Create something eclectic and artsy.

Maybe you can’t decide what to make your window sill become. Maybe you’ve got a lot of nick-knacks that have gone unused. Create something eclectic and interesting by adding it all together and forming a mish-mash of beautiful, wonderful things that represent you.

4. Create instant romance.

Your window sills become instantly more romantic by adding some candles … and lighting them in the evening hours. More light will come through and the glow will be perfect for a relaxing evening or rainy day.

5. Create a seat.

If you have the room, or even if you create the room …. make your window sill a place to take a load off and have a seat. Add a bench or add a pillow (if your ledge is big enough), the natural light and view is always better than staring at the TV screen or wall.

6. Create storage space.

If you’ve got an unused window sill in your craft room or home office, use it as storage! Don’t let the space go to waste. Add folders, boxes or jars of “stuff” to dress up the window and utilize the room for your own sanity and organization!
