5 Alternative Ways To Use Bookshelves ! Posted: 25 Jul 2012 08:49 AM PDT Bookshelves are incredibly useful, and for more than just as a home to all your favorite reads. They’re great for organizing, displaying and consolidating different items around the house. They can be put in corners, in hallways, in closets, turn on their side …. basically, they’re much more versatile than once was thought. So today, we’ve rounded up 5 alternative ways to use bookshelves around the home or apartment. Sit back, relax and take a look at what you can do with some of your own bookcases!! 1. Organize your sweaters. If you have a big enough closet … or a big enough room to hide this in the corner, a bookshelf is a great piece to organize and keep all your sweaters (and excess clothes) neat and tidy. This also makes them much easier to find! It’s pretty much just another great way to keep your closet organized and creates more storage for your wonderful, overflowing clothes collection!
2. Store your DVDS, blu rays and CDs! Yes, bookshelves easily hold books, but they can also hold all your other entertainment media as well! Turn it on its side and hold all you gaming consoles and movie players, store your DVDs, blu rays and even your CDs! It’s a great piece to use for storage and organizing! 3. Turn it into a side table. For those smaller bookshelves, they’re functionality is always a two-way street. Not only can you hold your books at the bottom but you can hold a lamp, coaster and pretty little nick-knacks on top! It’s a super versatile and stylish way to update your nightstand or side table. 4. Hold your shoes inside! Bookcases are great for keeping all your shoes in order. You can find your favorites in a jiff. And you can clear clutter by using one of these units as your shoe organizer. 5. Make a funky headboard. Yes, bookshelves are versatile! Haven’t you realized it yet? You can easily create a fun, eclectic headboard just by using a bookcase in its place. Hold your reading glasses, books and sleepy eye mask on the top shelves! Posted: 25 Jul 2012 07:32 AM PDT This sofa over here reminds me of the times I went camping. The resemblance with a sleeping bag is striking and in some way this is good thing. Those who got out in the nature and explored the wild mountains know that in the evening when you are tired of walking across narrow pats and rocky trails the sleeping bag is the ultimate comfortable experience. In those moments you forget all about fluffy pillows, nice and warm silk sheets or leather armchairs. When you snuggle up in that sack you are in heaven. Inspired from that design this new sofa reminds you that comfort is not something you take for granted. So when somebody walks into your living room and sits on that couch, it will automatically appreciate the true meaning of comfort. Another thing people will probably do is stand straight and not lean backwards because in their mind there is an already formed picture that tells them that those pillows are not stable.
Although the backrests are removable this is after all a sofa and you can trust in it fully. Made for pure comfort this sofa doesn't have a pretentious design that will go perfectly in a classy, elegant interior, but I bet you that Marc Sadler's sack sofa is going to be perfect in a young man's interior who has just moved into his very first one bedroom apartment. Contemporary Style Magazine Rack Posted: 25 Jul 2012 06:19 AM PDT Every office needs a place where to store all the magazines or books, either from junk mail or maybe ones that are really useful like Golden Pages or specialty magazines and papers. Most of the times the books are kept in small bookcases or on the shelves, but if you do not have so many of them and they are mainly magazines, I think this Contemporary Style Magazine Rack will be the perfect item for your office. It is modern looking and cool and it is really handy, too. You simply place it on or near the sofa in the lounge or on the low table in the office and everybody will have access to it and its contents. Besides, it will be a part of the overall design of the office and a smart feature, too. This magazine rack is very simple in design and yet very nice-looking. It is made of two identical halves that are joint together in the middle. Each of them has a handle that allows it to be carried easily and moved wherever you think it’s appropriate. The rack is made of Espresso finish bentwood and looks very modern and sophisticated. It is made by Oceanstar and can be purchased from Home Depot for $42.97. The stylish Casali console tables and mirrors Posted: 25 Jul 2012 04:20 AM PDT If you want to create a particularly chic décor for your bathroom, then you have to pay special attention to the details and the design of the furniture and fixtures. The usual robust pieces are no longer an option. You need to redirect your attention towards delicate designs with beautiful curves and elegant details. Casali offers a very beautiful collection in this sense. The Casali console table and mirror set are part of the Classic Collection and they were designed for King Go by Gruppo Gardenia Orchidea. They are very beautiful pieces and a great importance has been given to the little details. They have that timeless beauty specific to classical designs. The inspiration came from the decorative Florentine tradition of the seventeenth century. The console tables and mirrors are only crafted from high-quality materials by talented craftsmen.
They are made from aluminum and brass using traditional methods. The mold is hand-shaped and it's then filled with molten metal. After the pieces are extracted they are treated with great finesse and polished and waxed until they achieve their final shape. The collection is not only unique and very beautiful but also the testimony of centuries-old traditions. Unique techniques are encapsulated in these pieces and each product is unique thanks to the hand-crafted details. You can be certain that there's no other piece like the one you have. Make Your Bedroom Look Bigger In 5 Easy Steps!! Posted: 25 Jul 2012 03:33 AM PDT Some of us are blessed with amazing, cozy homes but pulled the short stick when it came to bedroom size. Whether your master bedroom is small or you just want to create more space in the other bedrooms of the house, there are definitely ways to make everyone’s space look and feel bigger. Use some of our tips to revitalize your bedrooms and create a more spacious atmosphere! 1. Natural Light. It doesn’t matter if your windows are small or if you have multiple, huge windows with amazing views. Using as much natural lighting as possible in your bedroom instantly brightens things up and widens the look and feel of the space.
2. Mirrors. Yes, it has been said over and over … and over … again, but it’s so true. Using mirrors, whether multiple or a single large one, truly opens up a room. It not only reflects more space but creates naturally lighting. Pair that with any outdoor light from outside and you’ve instantly adding more square feet to your bedroom. 3. Do not use dark colors. Lately, I’ve seen more and more people using deeper, darker colors to paint their bedrooms with. This is okay if you’ve got a very large bedroom, especially if you just paint one accent wall. But, if you decide to paint you entire, small to medium size bedroom a red, a dark gray, deep green or anything of the like … then you are shrinking the room! Don’t do it! Lighter colors create the illusion of more space. 4. Less is more. Keep away the clutter. You’d think this is common sense but too many people try to fit too many things in side their bedroom. First, get rid of excess nick-knacks and home accessories. Also, pay attention to the furniture you select. You don’t want to get bigger, bulkier furniture for a small bedroom. Try getting a bed without a headboard or foot board and a small, slimmer chest of drawers to keep as much space in the room as possible. 5. Utilize your walls. Don’t sit your bed in the center of the room. Don’t caddy corner your dresser or desks. Instead place large pieces of furniture up against walls to create bigger spaces in the center of the room. This way the room isn’t chopped up and your making the illusion of more foot room. Take a look at these smaller bedrooms and how they utilize every inch of their space and were smart in choosing their design and decor. All of these bedroom made the illusion of a bigger, more roomed room! Posted: 25 Jul 2012 02:41 AM PDT Foscarini is world-wide known for its revolutionary items that combine functionality with looks. A thing that was designed a few years ago but only know available for the general public is the Yet wall lamp. This contemporary lighting fixture was conceived to fulfill numerous tasks; once mounted on the wall this thing can be used as an unconventional bookshelf that also is a nice decorative touch for your room and it makes you see on the dark; like I was telling you about: looks and functionality. There are a few interesting features to this marvelous wall sconce. One of them is the possibility of installing multiple devices that are interconnected to create a wide pallet of shapes and patterns. Made out of polycarbonate these pieces are tough, resistant and slightly transparent so the fluorescent bulb behind it can make it glow. There is also the choice of color: white, orange, grey or yellow. You know what's best for your moody environment and how many and what color the individual pieces that compose your final wall montage should be. The size of each piece is about 24"W x 10.6"D x 13.75"H. Now you can have better image of how the entire concept works. Let's not forget versatility from this successful equation. I can see the Yet wall lamp mounted in a bedroom 2-feet above the headboard, or in a nice waiting room, an office lounge and so on.available for 583$. Making the move to the Garden of England Posted: 25 Jul 2012 01:10 AM PDT Though it is without doubt one of the most exciting cities in the world to live in, nobody can deny that London is pretty expensive. Rent, food shopping, eating out, going to the cinema – everything costs more in the capital, and unless you have a pretty well paid job it can be difficult to save the money you need to get on the property ladder. This is why many Londoners decide to move out of the capital and find new homes in Kent, and in recent years the county has become very popular with ex-city dwellers looking for somewhere a bit more affordable and a bit more peaceful to boot. If you're wondering whether or not to take the plunge and make the move to Kent, then a chat with anyone who lives there will probably help you make up your mind. Most people who move there are enamoured with the close proximity to the beautiful English countryside and the beaches, the pretty towns and cities like Canterbury and Hythe, and the slightly less frantic pace of life. And if you need to commute into London for work, you have a choice of train services that are usually (barring snow and severe cold) on time and pretty reliable. Most trains serve Victoria, Charing Cross, London Bridge or Waterloo, so you're never too far from one or other of the tube lines when you arrive.
When you decide to find a new property in Kent, it might be a good idea to take a drive to some of the areas you think you might like to live in first, just to get a feel for the place and soak up the atmosphere. If you can, try and have a chat to some of the locals and find out what they have to say about the place. Or if you'd prefer to do this anonymously there are loads of online forums you can join where you can post your questions about living in the area. That way you'll probably get more honest answers as well as people don't tend to pull any punches on forums! Like any other part of the country, you'll find that the closer you are to amenities, like schools and shops and train stations, the higher the house prices will be, so if you're really on a budget you might have to move that little bit further into the countryside. But if it's peace and tranquillity you're after, that won't be too much hardship!{pictures from photobucket}. A girl’s walk-in closet design ideas Posted: 24 Jul 2012 10:00 PM PDT It might have started as an exaggeration but the rumor that girls need huge closets and have tons of cloths and accessories has become a reality. It's not something that applies to all girls but having a large walk-in closet is a beautiful dream for most of them. Since the situation won't change we just have to accept it and deal with it so let's take a look at some design ideas. Depending on the age and character of the user of this walk-in closet, those details can be used as a starting point for the design. For example, little girls would probably prefer pink and lots of decorations in their closet while ladies would rather focus on something more elegant. The color is very important and it needs to reflect the user's personality and preferences. Another important aspect is the size and the way the closet is organized.
To make the best out of the space you have available you should try to use every inch of space. Try to alternate shelves with drawers and storage boxes. Make sure your closet is organized and that you can easily find the item you're looking for. This means you should have a portion dedicated to shows, another one for shirts, bags and even toys and other items, depending on the user. There are lots of different ways in which you can organize your closet. Try to find the solution hat best suits your needs and space and go with that.{picture 1&2,3,4,and 5}. Posted: 24 Jul 2012 09:02 PM PDT I don’t know why, but geometrical shapes look so nice and are so decorative. People have used geometrical shapes to decorate their ceramic objects ever since they started making them, a long, long time ago. I guess this is due to the fact that they are so regular and any regular thing suggests perfection. Any way, I prefer these patterns to any floral or other random pattern. This Hibiscus Pink Lattice Pillow is the best example. The small squares that are linked by straight lines look amazing against the hibiscus pink background. This pillow is able to decorate your living room in a cheerful way, to make it funny and happy, lively and looking so young. The bold colour and the modern pattern are perfect and together they will be the centerpiece of your sofa. The pillow cover is made of cotton, which is great for kids, too, since this is a hypo-allergenic fabric and also very nice to touch, absorbing fluids and keeping cool during summer. There is an “invisible” zipper at the bottom of the pillow and this allows you to remove the pillow case when you want to wash it. The pattern is the same on both sides of the pillow and you can order it online for the fair price of $15 from Pillows for hope.
