Espresso Set with Beautiful Square Cups

Posted: 23 Jul 2012 10:28 AM PDT

If you challenge a creative mind to something, it will always come up with some interesting ideas and solutions to anything. In this case the designer proved really ingenious when they came up with the idea of designing a special Espresso Set with Beautiful Square Cups. Everything about this set is special and this makes it so original and unique. First of all, the six espresso cups included in the set are square in shape and have no handles. Then they have a special place on top where to put the teaspoon you use to mix the sugar in the coffee. If you place the spoon there, you make sure you can find it all the time and not misplace it.

The spoons are also square, almost flat and are made of metal, so I would advise you to be careful when you want to warm up the espresso in the microwave oven. But this is not all: the wooden tray the espresso set sits on is made especially for this set and has detachable coasters, also made of wood. They simply come out from the tray and you can use them on the table. The designer , Fellina Sok-Cham , made this set in 2008 from bamboo and now you can order it for $65.

iProspect digital marketing agency office

Posted: 23 Jul 2012 09:45 AM PDT

This is the new iProspect office located in Fort Worth's Cultural District in Texas, USA. It occupies a surface of 25,000 square feet and it was a project by VLK Architects completed in 2012. The global digital marketing agency has another office located in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards and this new space was designed with influences from the existing office.

The new office is a combination between historical and high-tech elements. Originally, this space was a metal fabrication warehouse. It dates back to the 1950s and it featured lots of elements that were then incorporated into the new design. This way the office maintains the relationship with the past and the history of the building but it also looks forward to the future. Some of the features that were preserved include concrete columns with graffiti and masonry partitions.

The office has an open design and it includes a series of collaborative spaces and communal working areas, as well as conference rooms. It's a conglomerate of open spaces with different levels of privacy. There are also phone booths for personal use as well as a specialty room with writable walls and tables. It's a great place to get creative. The office also includes two game rooms, a main kitchen and a large common area. The interior décor is friendly and mixes old and new in a beautiful way.{found on archdaily and pics by Chad M.}.

Easy to make pallet serving tray

Posted: 23 Jul 2012 09:00 AM PDT

There are a lot of things that you can make from a pallet. You can use pallets to make tables, beds and even some interesting decorations. An easy project would be a serving tray. To make one you only need a portion of a pallet. You'll be able to create a simple and functional tray and you can use the rest of the pallet to make a planter box or something else you need around the house.

First make sure you have all the supplies you need: saw, pallet, drill, screws and hardware. Then start by cutting three bottom pieces. The dimensions are yours to decide. In this particular example they measure 22'' in length. Next you'll have to screw the bottom boards into the braces. You'll need approximately 6 screws, 2 for each board. After you're done with that you need to flip the tray over and attach the hardware. You can use some drawer pulls like the ones in the images or you can come up with something else. You can even make some handles yourself.

After this part the tray is basically done. Of course, you can also paint it for a fresh look. You can use paint or lacquer if you want to preserve the natural look. If you opt for a colored version it would be smart to paint the boards before making the tray. The hardware should also match the tray. If you maintain the natural look, antique pieces might be a good idea.{found on livelaughrowe}.

Entertaining Bauhaus Home in Canada

Posted: 23 Jul 2012 08:15 AM PDT

Since people try to get more space for their home and feel free to do whatever they want without being bothered by anyone, the houses become more airy , open and designed to entertain and make you feel comfortable. Thus many doors disappear and the space is arranged into more attractive areas.

In Edmonton, Alberta, Canada there is a family interested to get a modern, open, comfortable and attractive house that is called Bauhaus which can be perfect for any type of entertainment. The house covers a surface of 4,510 square feet and was designed by Paul Whincup of Habitat Studio & Workshop. It is an eye-catching house with many attractive details and where the eco-friendly devices seem to present too.

The open kitchen is very modern, has a lot of storage space and becomes even more attractive due to its transparent eating bar, the butcher block island countertop and its retractable hood fan. The three storey wood staircase with glass railings, integrated wood screens, artisan hand carved stone accents and a beautiful bubble glass chandelier looks really impressive and more like a piece of art. The spacious living room is a colorful space with white and blue walls, a modern fireplace, vintage carpets and a nice piano. Each room seems to have its own floor so that different open and private areas are created.

There are also colored walls, open hallways and wooden screens which are used to create all these spaces. The modern dining area has hand carved wooden screens brought from different journeys like many others used in other areas of the house. Another attractive area is the TV room where the TV is in a custom-built cabinet, integrated with the wooden screens and where the colorful pieces of furniture make everything look more joyful. The glass tiles used in the bathroom or the mosaic green wall make of this area a special and attractive place too.

Loki Playhouse Set

Posted: 23 Jul 2012 07:40 AM PDT

I have recently told you about the Loki kids chair that looks so cool and is so nice to play with. Well, today i will give you more details about a related piece of furniture called Loki Playhouse Set. The set is perfect for summer and it is recommended that you should use it outdoors, because it is rather big for a room in your house and it would take all the space available. But if you take it out and leave your kids play with it in the garden, they will love it. The set includes one Loki play house, one Loki kids table and two Loki chairs.

The whole set looks really nice and it is unlikely for it to change colour or have any other changes in texture or look, colour and all, because it is made entirely of recycled plastic and this material is not weather dependent. The playhouse is carved like Swiss cheese and has two squares for the windows, a bigger rectangular for the door and many other round smaller holes that allow the wind to pass by and make staying in it more comfortable. The set does not require too much attention or maintenance and can be purchased from Room&Board for the price of $1,599.

Add elegance to your kitchen with granite countertops

Posted: 23 Jul 2012 06:59 AM PDT

Granite countertops are not only beautiful and elegant but also very functional. It's why they are so popular in kitchens and bathrooms. Granite is a strong and hard-wearing material and it comes deep inside Earth. It starts as liquid magma and it can up to millions of years for the rock to form. Of course, this is the case of natural granite but there are artificial replacements as well.

Because of its durability, granite is used for structures that need to last longer such as tombstones and countertops. The granite is extracted from a quarry, cut and then sanded and polished. After adding any details and customizing it, the granite countertop is installed in our kitchen. You might not realize it, but you have a piece of history in your home.

Each countertop is unique. They each have natural characteristics that differentiate them from the rest, just like there are no two identical rocks. They can also differ in color, texture and size, as well as in design and other elements that are usually elements that the designer or manufacturer chooses. Granite countertops are particularly beautiful because of their natural qualities and they are so appreciated because they are very durable and long-lasting. This is also a reason to be very careful when choosing the countertop since you won't be replacing it for a long time.

Elegantly restored residence in Sicily by David Perri

Posted: 23 Jul 2012 05:47 AM PDT

This is a residence located in Messina, Sicily, Italy that features an abundance of historic details. Even though it was affected by the 1908 earthquake, the building managed to maintain intact many of its unique features. Architect David Perri has recently restored the residence and used these elements in his advantage.

The architect preserved all the historic elements that he could find. For example, he preserved the handmade concrete floor tiles that gave this place a unique allure, the wooden truss roof that was in surprising good shape as we as the marble stairs. The residence has two levels connected by a long and beautiful staircase that represents a unique architectural detail in itself. The entrance shares a large space with the living room and dining area. A partially hidden kitchen is also part of this communal area. It has high ceilings and exposed beams that create a strong contrast against the white ceiling and walls.

The residence also includes a studio gallery that could also serve as a guest room if needed. A spacious terrace can be accessed through the kitchen as well as from the living room. The master bedroom has been placed on two levels. It features a large walk-in closet and an open bathroom. There's also a second bedroom, also spacious. This one is situated on the second floor and overlooks the kitchen. This residence has an unusual but interesting and very appealing internal structure and the interior décor is quite unique.

Gus Modern Truss Chair

Posted: 23 Jul 2012 04:48 AM PDT

A chair is just a chair. This is what most people think and they do not pay too much attention to details. The only thing they care about is the price and the design of the chair, as they want the piece of furniture to match the other things in the house. Well, every once in a while you see a beautiful chair and you can’t stop admiring it and then you notice all the details and they make you love it even more. This Gus Modern Truss Chair is not a simple chair but a work of art if you ask me. It is designed in a mid-century style and looks great, but there’s more to it than these features.

The most striking detail is the wonderful wooden frame of the chair. It is made of solid natural oak and all the parts are skillfully joined together using the work of the Sarasota School of Architecture. You can see straight lines and angles combined with leaning angles and lines and you will not see a nail or an ugly joining. The back rest and the back legs of the chair are comfortably oblique and offer the best position ever. The chair is covered with nice fabric in green or white and everything looks just fine as a whole. The item is now available in online stores for $716.

10 Traditional living room décor ideas

Posted: 23 Jul 2012 03:15 AM PDT

Traditional interiors are easy to spot as they have a very specific look. They tend to focus on elegancy and on an overall continuous décor where everything matches everything else. The most commonly used colors are beige and brown with slight variations. An element that is specific to traditional décor, more exactly to living rooms, is the rug. Traditional rugs have an easily distinguishable pattern and they feature a mix of warm colors and intricate patterns.

Rugs, regardless of their style, are a detail that has become unnecessary in most modern decors. However, they have a softness to them that allows them to bring warmth to a room and to create a cozy and more intimate atmosphere. Traditional living rooms also often have fireplaces. It's a very beautiful detail that makes the whole room stand out.

They are also often defined by the use of robust furniture such as sofas and upholstered armchairs. These are particularly comfortable pieces of furniture and another element that contributes to the overall intimate and inviting atmosphere. Besides the typical architectural details such as the moldings and ceiling roses that some traditional homes still have, their interiors are also characterized by elegant decorations and accessories, including pendant lamps or even chandeliers, artwork on the walls and decorative flowers on the table. Of course, there are variations to these decors and different influences.{picture sources:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10}.
