The White Cube Apartment by ARCH.625 Posted: 29 Jun 2012 07:03 AM PDT Also called the White Cube, this apartment is a beautiful example of minimalism and everything related to it. The name of the apartment is based on a very clear analogy. This place really looks like a white cube. It has crisp white walls throughout as well as white walls and white ceilings. These elements help create a continuous design and a uniform look. The apartment was designed by ARCH.625. It's a contemporary home that measures 80 square meters. It has spacious rooms, an open floor plan and a very airy and bold décor. Originally, the internal structure of the apartment was completely different. There were several rooms that were all separated and made this whole place seem cramped and small. After some of the walls were removed either completely or partially and some were replaced by glass walls, the apartment suddenly became larger and seems a lot more spacious.
Of course, the white surfaces helped create the impression of a bigger space. Another element that contributed to this beautiful final result was the style. The minimalist furniture definitely made everything seem simpler and more airy. But in order to avoid monotony and to avoid creating an overwhelming and tiresome décor, the designers also sued bold pops of colors throughout the apartment. Whether it's something as small as a pillow or something as big as a double bed, the effect is basically the same. The architectural Gus bench by David Podsiadlo Posted: 29 Jun 2012 06:11 AM PDT The Gus bench, despite its name, is actually a multipurpose piece of furniture. Given its minimalist design and structure, it can be used as a great coffee table, accent table and, of course, as a bench. It has a strong and durable construction and a very interesting design. The body of the bench is made of wood and the legs are stainless steel. What's particularly interesting is the design of the legs and the way they interact with the bench. The sleek stainless steel return legs seem to be independent from the rest of the bench and the wooden structure seems to be floating in the air with no support. This allows the bench to have a simple but bold and eye-catching design and to be perceives as a modern and even futuristic piece of furniture. The Gus bench can be purchased at the price of $899.00.
This innovative piece of furniture was designed by David Podsiadlo. It has a flexible and versatile design that allows it to be used both as a bench or table. Moreover, the customer can choose from a range of three exotic wood veneers. The Gus bench is available in Macassar Ebon, Walnut or Zebrano veneer. The stainless steel return legs are not optional. The dimensions of the bench are also fixed. The bench measures 15″ H x 60″ W x 14″ D. The feet also serve as armrests. The Gus bench was designed for indoor use only. OnebyNine’ s vision of a small apartment Posted: 29 Jun 2012 05:17 AM PDT In Hong Kong, space occupies an important place in people’s lives. OnebyNine studio, in the name of two Polish architects reworked the configuration, removed walls and created a more appropriate space for living, sleeping and entertaining. The linking element is “Space Invaders” mosaics that appear in several rooms, but nothing compares to the small terrace with tropical plants, part of a perfect world and a welcome retreat for this overcrowded city. It is impressive what can be done with a small space; this is the ideal example that proves best that anything can be done, that nothing is impossible, that you can have the apartment you dream, even if it is not a wide place. The interior has everything you might think of, it is modern, stringent and a bit cold, but it has the most important aspect: personality.
This is the best example of an intelligent work with virtually no space and nothing compares to the feeling you have when you see how everything was well thought and well organized. The rooms are small, but they have it all and even more, while the terrace seems to belong to another world, the ideal space to forget about a long tiring day, to relax and enjoy life! The tropical plants animate the atmosphere and enchant the eye, just like this entire place! Dream house in Melbourne by Grant Maggs Architects Posted: 29 Jun 2012 04:47 AM PDT The Maribyrnong House is a contemporary residence located in Melbourne, Australia. It was designed for an adventurous client with a generous budget that wanted a sustainable alternative for him and his family. The house was a project by Grant Maggs Architects and it features a very interesting design, both in terms of shape, details and choice of materials. The residence sits on a very beautiful site that also had a great influence on the overall design and the final image. The architect opted for zinc as a material for most of the exterior. The zinc and masonry façade is facing the street and presents a simple but elegant and eye-catching design. On the other side, the part facing the river features a glazed curtain wall with covered balconies and terraces that offer wonderful views from all three floors.
The residence was also designed as a flexible space with a functional planning. This way the house can be considered both a quiet home for a family of four or a place for large gatherings and events. Moreover, even though it has an impeccable design and impressive features, the house is a low-maintenance structure. The architects used high-quality, durable materials to build it and they include zinc, bluestone, recycled timber wood, concrete and stainless steel. If you combine these elements, the elegant design of the house and the beautiful views that it offers, the result is very close to a dream home. The sleek Paxton outdoor dining set Posted: 29 Jun 2012 03:14 AM PDT Having dinner or breakfast outdoor is a unique sensation. The Paxton dining set is definitely something anyone would love to have at their discretion. Now available on sale at the special price of $799.99, this outdoor dining set is exactly what you need for a perfect summer. The Paxton set includes a round table and four chairs. They are made in fully welded wrought iron and they are ready to withstand anything nature has to throw at them. Posted: 29 Jun 2012 12:00 AM PDT The little attic in the picture is the result of a full of grace transformation and among the pieces that contributed to the successful present image there are antiques, furniture pieces, ethnic accessories and textiles with colorful personality. The furniture pieces chosen to decorate the salon lose their independence to occupy an irreplaceable place in the final set and every detail is important, with its well-established place; the pieces of art in every day clothes are essential. For example, the wing chair in red is similar with the ones in Maisons du Monde; the coffee table is an old trail with a glass top. Nothing compares to the chill out air the salon reveals. This charming rustic and bohemian air is present everywhere you look, in the salon, in the kitchen with office, in the bedroom and in the bathroom, with its green shades and natural light.
All the rooms have their own style, a style that gives the sensation of unity and balance.; the decorative details, the bright colors and original furniture pieces contribute to the ambience with an own style in a small space. The goal was definitely accomplished, that of recreating the vibrant tendencies of the 70's and 80's. This attic is just like a travel into the past and what is the most important is the fact that it has a happy- ending.{found on micasarevista}. The timeless Calvin leather sofa Posted: 28 Jun 2012 10:10 PM PDT Sometimes the best way to impress is by choosing simplicity. It's not what you design or what elements you use but the way you do it. Nevertheless, it impresses with its subtle elegance and lack of unnecessary features. The Calvin leather sofa is a timeless piece of furniture. It's the type of sofa that you can include in any type of living room décor. It can be modern, traditional, vintage, casual, sophisticated or dramatic. The exposed solid wood legs add a plus of elegance and allow the sofa to feature a great balance in terms of volumes, shapes and structure. The Calvin sofa is crafted with a kiln dried hardwood frame, it has sinuous wire spring suspension, poly fiber seat and back cushions and leather upholstery in Oxford Black. Slim DIY desk with a customized design Posted: 28 Jun 2012 07:16 PM PDT We are all unique and different so it doesn't really seem fair to be using furniture that hundreds of other people have too. We should try to personalize our home in the same way we personalize our outfits and ourselves. We're not all professional carpenters so we can't make our furniture ourselves but we can use already existing pieces to create a new and original design. This DIY project shows you how to personalize your home by creating a unique desk. You don't have to build it from scratch. It fact, it's enough to take two separate pieces, put them together and form a new design. In this case we have a narrow desk made from an occasional table and a side table with storage put together. The two pieces were purchased separately but had similar and matching designs. They were both white, modern and minimalist and the dimensions matched as well. So creating the desk was easy.
Of course, the desk would have been incomplete without a keyboard tray. This was something that needed to be added. The sliding keyboard tray was made from a flat shelf and drawer slider hardware. It was painted white just like the rest of the pieces and it matched perfectly. The result was a very functional and stylish desk with a slim design. It was perfect for working at the computer or laptop and it even had storage. A stool was the only thing that this space needed.Table 70$,table leg with storage 49$.
