Modern Top Level Loft With Pops Of Green

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 10:19 AM PDT

Nothing compares to the unique feeling you have when you like the place where you are. When the place is pleasant, there is continuity, light, amplitude reigns and surrounds everything around. The loft in the picture is spectacular with its different levels of communication, its omnipresent structure and not only… An important place is occupied by decorations and all they suppose, starting with the great sofa upholstered in a refreshing pistachio green to the corners, modules and especially to the details that make the difference and add a personal touch to the entire place.

Among the most appealing aspects, there are the industrial stairs in white that communicate with the two plans of the loft, the double height salon. Another important part is played by the shades of color that animate a mainly white environment; green and yellow seem to emphasize the animated part of this space, just like the motto that is written on a wall and which seems to rule the owners' life and which is the same as the old ” Carpe diem!” concept.

All the rooms have something special, something that makes you like them and feel comfortable. They all have a personal print that makes people feel at ease and enjoy everything around, just as the motto says, to enjoy life, work and friends, have fun and everything around as this is the essence of life. Every little thing suggests good taste, personality, harmony, light and continuity.{found on micasarevista}.

Emlyn Three Seat Sofa from Habitat

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 09:39 AM PDT

Sofas are great for the living room and they are those pieces of furniture that suggest relaxation and chatting with friends over a cup of coffee. Sofas are supposed to be comfortable and nice, soft and nice to touch and they should make you feel safe and embraced. This particular Emlyn Three Seat Sofa from Habitat is the best example of sofa, beautiful and comfortable, nice and yet kind of discreet, not standing out from the overall picture of the room. First of all it is large enough to allow three people to sit there, so it is not meant to house a couple, but three, which is already a crowd, so perfect for a bunch of friends.

This sofa is is covered with linen mix fabric and has a nice grey colour. It has comfortable and soft cushions, both for the seat and for the back rest. The four short legs are made of wood and they are sturdy enough to support the whole weight of the sofa and the people sitting on it, too. It has high curving arms and a high back and is designed by Bethan Gray for Habitat. The sofa is perfect for a modern living room and can be purchased online for a special price of £1,170.00.

Unique House on Re Island

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 07:51 AM PDT

Once you see this building from outside, you will probably share the general impression, that of a charming building of the 17 th century, but when you see the interior, the perspective changes: the structure and the inside definitely belongs to nowadays and the key word is art.

This world seems to be one of the best models of style and serenity, with its traditional exterior, with an intact facade that preserves the aesthetics of the area, with a garden and pool that create a calm and arranged atmosphere. The columns brought from Sumatra give a unique air, but in fact, the entire environment reveals identity and a romantic air, but also clarity and light.

The entrance seems to be guarded by an anthropomorphical figure, but nothing is more appropriate for this holiday sanctuary located near La Rochelle. This spacious house is a testimony of the past if we look at the facade, while the surrounding atmosphere can be characterized with a few words: silence, beauty, nature. The interior is an example of actuality, with wide spaces and refinement that provide new perspectives over life.

Everything is under the pattern of transparency and light, clarity and luminosity. No matter where you find yourself, art seems to witness everything; the statues are a permanent presence that adds a plus of personality, just like the two great faces in the garden that seem to protect this unique space. Every little thing exists to make people feel at ease and enjoy the place with all its beautiful parts.{found on nuevo-estilo}.

The two in one CGM House by Ricardo Torrejón

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 06:52 AM PDT

The CGM House is a residence located in Los Aromos, Limache, Valparaíso Region, Chile. It covers an area of 310.0 square meters and it features a contemporary design. The house was a project developed by Ricardo Torrejón Schellhorn and it was completed in 2012. The owners had one difficult request. They wanted this to be a fulltime residence or a primary residence as they described it but they also wanted it to feel like a vacation house. It was a very interesting and understandable request, after all who wouldn't want to feel like they're in vacation in their own home?

The challenge of creating a primary residence within the context of a holiday retreat was not easy to overcome. Luckily for the architects, the environment was perfect. It was very quiet and almost isolated, with panoramic and unobstructed views of the landscape. The owners also had two more basic requests. They wanted this house to facilitate intense social activities, to allow them to easily interact with friends and family members and to be a pleasant space for people of all ages. The second request was related to privacy. The owners wanted the house to offer intimacy and privacy while also having a flexible design.

As you can imagine, making all those wishes come true wasn't easy, especially since some of them are almost contradictory. To solve these problems, the architects designed the house as a series of independent volumes, each with a different function. These volumes can be isolated from the rest of the house for more privacy but they can also be made a part of the whole design.

There are four volumes. One of them is to be used by the parents, another one by the children, one includes the common spaces and the last one the service areas. It's a very functional design that solves all the problems and responds to all the requests.{found on archdaily}.

Renovated 1980s residence in Aspen by Stonefox

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 05:20 AM PDT

This stylish house was originally built in the 1980s. It has a very charming design and a surprisingly contemporary look. The house is located in Aspen, Colorado. It has been recently renovated by Stonefox Design when it got a simpler and more casual design.

Over the years, the house has been repeatedly transformed and adopted various architectural styles. It was the subject of all sorts of combinations and styles and now it's been updated to a contemporary look. The architects were asked this time to try to simplify the exterior as well as the interior. The reason was that the owners wanted to make room for their extensive avant-garde contemporary art collection and they also wanted the décor to match the same style and approach.

The architects adopted an Asian-inspired approach. The house now has a simple yet strong look and a casual yet elegant décor. The color palette is retrained and includes tones of beige and brown. The furniture used is simple and comfortable. The house also has a luxurious feel and a stylish décor. Everything was carefully chosen for this project, including the flooring, the veneers, fabrics, textures and the carpets. All the details are beautiful, subtle yet visually strong. There's a very nice balance between dark and bright tones and, even though each room has its own charm, they all follow the same pattern and form a continuous décor.

Artistic and very creative kitchen wall décor

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 03:50 AM PDT

It's difficult to get creative when you decorate your kitchen. We usually just stick with the classics and opt for wallpaper, colorful walls or maybe some themed stickers. But if you manage to think out of the box and you also have the talent for it you can come up with some really ingenious and creative ideas such as this one.

It's hard to believe that these are the walls of a kitchen. The walls are covered in drawings and they form a fluid composition. They represent monuments from the biggest cities of the world and they are all made part of a continuous design. The result is a very artistic and highly original wall décor. It's an amazing idea that could be adapted for other rooms as well. Of course, not all of us are as talented as the owner of this home.

The artist managed to cover two white walls with black and white drawings. For him, these walls literally represented a blank canvas and he was able to use his creativity and to come up with something really amazing that shows his passion for drawing. This is a very inspirational project. As you can see, the drawings are very complex and meticulous. Creating something so complex is difficult, especially when you work with big surfaces such as this one. Nevertheless, this artist makes everything seem very easy and natural.

Wooden bunk bed with a simple and natural look

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 03:06 AM PDT

Bunk beds are very popular, one of the reasons being that they are very practical and they allow us to save a lot of floor space. These functional pieces of furniture are constantly redesigned but the concept remains the same and the basis is a piece like this one. This simple bunk bed is made of wood and has a minimalist design.

Available at the price of $1,499.00, the bed is part of the Simple Collection. It has clean and simple lines and a timeless look. The Twin-Over-Twin Bunk, as it is called, is perfect for the children's room as it's safe and friendly but it's also something you might consider using in a guest room if you don't have much space. It's perfect for shared bedrooms and it has a versatile design that allows it to be easily matched and mixed with a variety of other styles and designs.

The bed is safe and it's made from solid poplar with a webbed slat roll system for even support. And if the space allows you, you can also transform it into two separate beds. It's a very convenient alternative that allows you to have a very flexible décor. The beds are safe but it's recommended that they shouldn't be used for children under 6 years old. The bunk beds have a versatile and simple design that allows them to be made a part of both contemporary and traditional décors. Moreover, you can also opt for the storage trundle that doubles as an extra bed that can also be used for under bed storage.

Large, Contemporary Art For Your Home

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 02:10 AM PDT

Art, in my humble opinion, is one of the best ways to add style and personality to a room. While accessories, curtains, pillows, and furniture all add a certain layer of interest, art is where a designer or a homeowner can really display their taste. Of course, there are many different types of art from sculptures to photography to oil on canvas. Whatever you choose for your home though, consider all of these art mediums but on a much larger scale.

Large-scale art is quickly becoming one of the most popular design trends around. Gone are the rules of carefully selected dimensions. Now, it's all about how much color and interest you can infuse into a space, which is easily achieved when dealing with large canvases and prints.

For example, this room below utilizes subway art, a type of display that is sweeping through DIY circles for its ability to be easily recreated. You can use city names from where you travelled, memories from your childhood, or even words of hope or praise. Purchase a print from an online store or make it yourself with stencils and a large canvas.{found on site}.

You could also go even more modern with a completely abstract painting like the one in this featured bedroom below. Just as descried earlier, the previous rules about scale and dimension no longer matter. It's all about creating a space that is inviting and memorable, and this room has achieved just that.

Do you have a long wall that you don't know what to do with? Forget complicated gallery walls that can often look busy and thrown together. Instead, replace that idea with a stunning piece of art. This long, rectangular contemporary piece is soothing, while still providing much needed color to the otherwise neutral space.{found on site}.

Photography is an incredible way to put art in your home in an affordable way. This massive photograph of two horses not only adds color to the room, but it also brings a sense of movement and action to the space. It's important to remember this about art. It does not necessarily just sit on the wall. It can actually move people.{found here}.

I hope that the inspiration rooms featured above will help you to think beyond the realms of what is typically accepted in many design circles. Art not only helps you push the boundaries of what you thought you liked, but can also impact you in ways you might not even realize.

Large-scale art works well for homes that are lofts or have ceilings that are the height of two floors. However, any type of art can truly be accommodated in any room in your home.. Even your children's spaces could benefit from a large map on one wall or a fun mural on the other. Essentially, when it comes to art, the sky's the limit. So, use your imagination, push your boundaries, and make choices that positively impact your life and your home.

How to build a planter storage box in 10 steps

Posted: 27 Jun 2012 12:10 AM PDT

A storage box is more than useful and if it has a planting tray on the top, it duty is double. If you succeed to build your own planter storage box, you will have the perfect space for displaying colorful annuals or a collection of herbs and even more, you could store garden accessories behind the door.

All you have to do is to follow the 10 established steps in order to see your dream coming true. Thus,  pay attention and do exactly what you are required to do: 1 – create side frames, including: drill, countersink, glue and screw the frames together; 2 – create box frame, meaning almost the same things: drill, countersink, glue and screw the two frames at the corners;

3 – apply sides and back, paying attention to the fact that the sides must overhang the frame at back and front to the thickness of the boards; 4 – bottom construction; 5 – construct top, making a bottom for the box by laying it on a flat surface and alligning the four remaining boards inside;

6 – construct door, centering and screwing to the back of the door at the top and bottom, measuring diagonally between the top left and bottom right of the two boards and cutting a piece; 7 – finishing, filling all screw holes with wood filler, sanding the box and stain ; 8 – attaching door, making sure the door fits the opening, installing hinges and a handle;

9 – create planting tray, meaning: drill, countersink, glue and screw the box together, then line the frame with one sheet of plastic, overlapping the outside of the frame; 10 – completion, inserting the planter tray into the box top and filling with soil and finally, you can add annuals, water and enjoy!{found on homedepot}.
