The minimalist Mass Light NA6 by NORM architects

Posted: 25 Jun 2012 10:48 AM PDT

This minimalist and very stylish indoor pendant lamp was designed by NORM architects in 2012. It's a part of the Mass Light Collection and it has a very interesting design. During their travels, the creators of this beautiful pendant lamp were always fascinated by street lamps. They liked their simplicity and the way the cast iron top was complemented by the opaque glass sphere. They decided to use that exact image to create a delicate pendant lamp for indoor use. This way people would be able to enjoy the beauty of street lamps in the calmness of their homes.

Designers Kasper Rønn and Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen used the street lamp as inspiration and managed to transfer its characteristics, including the shapes and combinations of materials, into a different design with a different use. The result was this beautiful pendant lamp called Mass Light NA6. The Mass Light Collection includes similar pieces with the same delicate simplicity and minimalist design.

This particular indoor pendant has a structure very similar to that of the outdoor street lamps. It's made from brown marble and opal glass. The designers wanted to create a lamp made from natural stone that could be used in any environment.
The choice of materials is quite uncommon but it's a homage to the elements that inspired this design. Moreover, these are top quality materials that provide durability. The designers also used the same creations to form a chandelier for those who wish to illuminate larger areas. Both the pendant lamp ad the chandelier are minimalist but elegant and stylish.

The Luxury Ciel de Paris Restaurant Interior Design

Posted: 25 Jun 2012 09:55 AM PDT

Ciel de Paris is a very spacious and very stylish restaurant located on the 56th floor of the Montparnasse Tower in Paris. It covers an area of 400 square meters and it offers wonderful views of the city skyline. It's a very chic restaurant with an interior design inspired by the 1960's aesthetics. The huge windows offer unobstructed views of the city and the combination of interior and exterior beauty is very charming.

The interior design of the restaurant was created by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance. The lighting features were exclusively designed for this project and they resemble a cluster of planets or the craters from the surface of the moon. This detail makes the décor seem particularly modern. To create a continuous décor, these "planets" have reflections in the carpets as well. And to continue the space-related metaphor, the bar resembles a spaceship. It features indirect lighting and the light is then projected onto the ceiling.

The furniture in this restaurant is also minimalist and modern. The satin seats and wooden benches create a sophisticated image with a touch of natural. This is a restaurant that enchants the eye and allows guests to enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience. Ciel de Paris has a beautifully personalized décor and a strong identity. It's simple but very charming and has a sophisticated but not exaggerated elegance.

The comfortable and multi-functional Tri-fold bench

Posted: 25 Jun 2012 09:12 AM PDT

Benches are not the most popular pieces of furniture which is not quite fair because they are exceptionally functional and comfortable to sit on. Some of them take the comfort to a whole new level. It's the case of the Tri-fold bench that preserves the classical design of this piece of furniture but adds a modern twist to it.

The Tri-fold bench features a very simple frame. It's made of wood and it's durable and stable. It has clean and simple lines and it provides support for the back while also allowing you to lie down and relax. The signature element of the Tri-fold bench is the three-layer pad area that is particularly comfortable. It's a flexible addition that can be used in multiple ways, making the bench even more versatile that it already is.

This modern bench was designed by Douglas Leckie. It features a beautiful combination of materials and textures. The wooden frame is extremely simple and lacking any details that might make it stand out. The padded area can be completely folded and placed on the outer sides of the bench. It can serve as armrest or pillow in case you want to relax. There's also an extra mat that can be used for the back. It's flexible and it increases the comfort level. The bench has a contemporary look, minimalist and functional, not to mention flexible and versatile.

A house for two families in Austria

Posted: 25 Jun 2012 08:39 AM PDT

When there are several people living under the same roof, it's often difficult to maintain boundaries and feel close at the same time. However, these problems can be easily solved. For example, this lovely house is the home of two families. The residence is located in Natters, Austria and it was designed by Triendl und fessler architekten.

The house was built in 2008 and it sits on a surface of 230 square meters with a 90 square meter carport. It has a contemporary design and a compact, geometrically-shaped form. The clients requested a two-in-one house and didn't consider this very close connection as an inconvenient. Given the long and narrow shape of the plot, the building had to have a long and narrow shape as well. Even though the house is shared by two families, it doesn't have a design that distinguishes it from regular family homes.

The only indicatives of this unusual pact are the two entrances and the size of the building. The interior structure is simple and functional. The two houses are delimitated but they also share a series of common areas such as the storage area from the garage used for cars, bikes and motocross machines. The houses also share the beautiful garden. It's an unusual situation but also an innovative idea that sheds new light on the concept of privacy and family homes.{found on archdaily and pics by Günther Wett}.
