| Modern residence in Orsay by Eva Samuel Architecte et Associes Posted: 24 Jun 2012 10:20 AM PDT Located in Orsay, France, this residence impresses with its simple and modern design. The house was a project developed by Eva Samuel Architecte et Associes. It was built in several stages. Even so, it has a very cohesive design, both inside and out. The exterior design of the house is modern and simple, with a compact and geometrical shape.
The interior is also simple and tasteful. The living room has an open floor plan and shares the area with the kitchen. It's very airy and functional. Throughout the house, the furniture is modern and minimalist. The wall units from the living area take care of the owners' storage needs while also maintaining an airy atmosphere. There aren't any unnecessary details or accessories. Everything is simple and efficient. The house also has a lovely lounge area with a glass wall that allows panoramic views of the outdoor areas.
The indoor-outdoor connection is very strong thanks to the glass walls and large windows. These spaces seem to become one when needed but they are also delimitated and can become private. The house opens and closes as its owners want. The residence has a terrace connected to a beautiful garden. The terrace is protected from the sun and serves as a wonderful and quiet relaxation space. Overall, this is a lovely family home with a beautiful design and a wonderful and quiet location. | Posted: 24 Jun 2012 01:50 AM PDT Lakaz Chamarel Exclusive Lodge is an example of an unique and refined hotel managed like a guesthouse, but with the full service of a 5 star hotel. Actually, it is among the top hotels and its location says more than words could say; being in the middle of a tropical garden, surrounded by the mountains of Chamarel.
It has everything your heart might desire: exclusivity and serenity to nature and green tourism, a refined local cuisine, without mentioning the 20 luxurious rooms and suites representing different cultures on the island. What is also impressive is the fact that each room has its ethnic influence in furniture and decoration that comes from China, Africa,India or the tropics.
Among the elements that can be noticed in this unique universe there are: wood, beams, terra cota, ton ochre, beige and rust, all these contributing to the general atmosphere, characterized by something singular, the Mauritian charm. Beyond this exclusive lodge, there is something else impossible not to mention, the natural park of Black Rivergorges, a protected natural heritage site.
Every little thing belonging to this universe seems to exist in order to emphasize the surrounding environment that impresses the eyes and the soul more than anything else! Just as the surrounding area has a certain charm, each room reveals a corner of heaven that exists in order to make people relax, feel at ease and enjoy this dream world that makes us see what is important, the beautiful part of life! | Two stylish DIY pillow designs for your home Posted: 24 Jun 2012 12:24 AM PDT Everyone has pillows in their home. They are great decorations because they are also cozy items and not just purely decorative elements that take space. Today we're going to show two different ways of creating beautiful pillows for your home. The first one is a triangle pillow. To make a similar one you'll need wool felt, permanent fabric glue, fabric scissors, a rotary cutting tool, a self-healing mat, a ruler, scrap paper and a square template.
Start by cutting the wool felt into 2.5'' wide strips. Using the template cut the strips into even squares. Each pillow requires nine squares but it all depends of the design you choose. Next, place the ruler through the middle of one square and draw a line. Then cut all the squares in half, creating triangles. Finally, create a geometrical pattern using the triangles and use fabric glue to attach them to the pillow.
Another classical pattern includes stripes. To create a striped pillow you'll need fabric paint in any color you want and a paint palette or container. All you need to do is paint stripes across the pillow. You can use a ruler for better results. You can also alternate several colors, combine them and come up with your own stripe design. You can create as many or as few stripes you want.{found on creaturecomfortsblog}. | Extension and remodel of a Dublin residence by Donaghy & Dimond Architects Posted: 23 Jun 2012 11:24 PM PDT The owner of this house used to live here but, at one point, he decided to live. When he realized that this was his dream home all along, he came back and decided to also remodel and extend the house. He asked Donaghy & Dimond Architects for help with this project and the team managed to complete everything in 2011.
The current residence consists of an originals structure of 96 square meters and an extension of 16 square meters. The residence is located in Dublin, Ireland. Some major changes had to be made. One of them was the transformation of both the house and the garden. The two areas are now connected and include an open social area that includes the kitchen, dining and living room. The kitchen features polished concrete counters and has a design that creates a seamless transition towards the garden.
The extension has large windows and an upper level that allows views of the St. Patrick Cathedral. What's particularly interesting about this project is the fact that there's a continuous contrast of old and new. The original structure was remodeled but preserves most of its features and charm. On the other hand, the extension also tries to continue that image with the use of brick walls for the garden and simple materials for the actual building. The materials interact beautifully and the result is a nice blend between these styles.{found on arhdaily}. | Posted: 23 Jun 2012 01:01 PM PDT If your hallway or living room is too boring or the walls are too empty and you want to bring a fresh look to your home, you might try to purchase this unusual, but very nice looking Seaweed Round Mirror. It is actually a very normal and boring mirror, or at least its inside is. Because you can see the round shaped middle center looking like any other normal mirror. However, what is most spectacular about it is the exterior design, meaning the frame surrounding the mirror, which looks like season.
It is pretty difficult indeed to have some idea about the mirror design unless you see it in pictures. But everybody knows what seaweed is and what it looks like. So basically the idea is to have a normal circle surrounded by metallic “seaweed”. These marine thin plants are present like thin threads of metal that create that chaotic design, that is surprising and chases monotony away. Any way, the mirror is both designed and manufactured by John Lewis and this particular mirror is available online for £120 for the product with the diameter of 90 cm.You can also compare its design with a star burst or maybe a twister approaching your mirror. | Posted: 23 Jun 2012 11:55 AM PDT Modern furniture is made by using a modern design and modern materials. That means that the old fashioned wood, which is very beautiful, but not that modern, is left aside and some other materials like steel and leather come out as being really fashionable and stylish these days. Take this Savina Lounge Chair for example! It is made of polished stainless steel and beautiful white Italian leather upholstery, which makes it look so cool for any room. It is also very resistant and it will last for a long time before deteriorating. Besides, its leather being white and Italian makes the lounge chair really elegant and classy.
This chair is very interesting in design, as its base is made of steel and also has an unusual shape, looking like two metal squares on the sides of the chair , being connected together with the steel frame for the seating. This piece of furniture is modern and trendy and shows a minimalist tone, great for both indoors and outdoors. The chair is manufactured and sold by Modani for a price of $490. The product looks impressive, indeed, but it also shows great comfort and style. It is a perfect example of modern, yet comfy and stylish minimalist furniture.
