Posted: 03 May 2012 10:01 AM PDT What I like about modern interior design and furniture design is that it has no boundaries: you can see both men and women creating new stuff for the home and also they come from different parts of the world. One thing I do not understand completely and this is how on Earth did they get to have to many talented designers in Finland. Some of them stayed in their country, but some others made a name abroad like Eero Saarinen who moved with his family to US and developed his career there. Well, he is most known for a few things, among which the Tulip chair. It was a source of inspiration for many people and that is why we nowadays have things like this Saarinen Style Tulip Table that kept his vision, but turned it into a table.
This table totally preserves the materials used by Saarinen and also the way in which he designed his works, giving an”organic design to his furnishings”. The table is made of fiber glass and it looks like melting down and dripping on the floor in a little pond that is actually the table base. The opposite circle is bigger and wider and it is the table top. They are connected by a thin and graceful leg. The item shows Mid Century features and complements any room it is placed in. You can have it now from e-Bay for $495. Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Saarinen Style Tulip Table |
Colorful Jelly sofa with egg shaped pillows Posted: 03 May 2012 09:55 AM PDT More color, more joy, that's my motto. And that's also Adrenalina's conception, considering that most of its products are joyful and intense colored. Even Easter has just ended, when I first saw the Jelly sofa from Adrenalina I thought about the Easter eggs. The sofa has some fix and mobile pillows which look like some colorful Easter eggs. Sitting on this couch you will expect at any moment an Easter bunny to jump from behind. The upholstered sofa is designed by Simone Micheli for the 2012 collection and it is created for three persons. The sofa has a simple, yet joyful colored design, which makes it fit different spaces. It is perfect for a nursery room, but also for modern living rooms or halls. The upholstery comes in two color options. You can choose between a yellow and a green seat, both of them having a checkered pattern. This model also gives the impression of fun and play.
The oval pillows are in shape of eggs and in different colors. The sofa has one row of six pillows which work as a backrest and another row of mobile pillows which you can arrange as you want or your own comfort. The legs of the sofa have a wooden aspect which makes the entire product look very simple and easy to match with any design. Your children will be very excited about this colorful sofa and even you will feel on it like a baby bird in its nest. The peaceful Huvafen Fushi retreat in Maldives Posted: 03 May 2012 09:16 AM PDT If you haven't already picked a location for your next vacation, maybe you'd like to give this one a chance. Huvafen Fushi is a very beautiful and peaceful retreat, perfect for both single couples and families. It's a place where you can rejuvenate and relax after a year's work. The retreat is located in the Maldives. The location is very beautiful and the views and amazing everywhere you look. Even though the little villas there have a rustic and simple look, the retreat is quite luxurious. It offers beautiful views but this is not all. While you're there you can also relax on the beautiful sandy beaches or in the amazing underwater spa. The ocean huts are very cute and inviting. They have a modest exterior design but inside you can find everything you need. The huts are quite big actually and they even have open terraces where you can have breakfast, coffee, or simply relax.
Because of the huts this can't really be called a hotel. Regardless of that, if offers all the comfort of a luxurious hotel. The guests arrive at the Male International Airport. From there, the hotel's host takes them on a 35-minute luxury speedboat cruise to the island. For those who prefer something else, sea planes are also available. They take only 15 minutes to reach the island so you can check in faster and start your adventure. There you have a fitness center, Jacuzzis, a library, restaurants, spa services, an outdoor swimming pool, laundry services, 24-hour room service and many more. It's a great destination for those who seek adventure but also for those who want a romantic vacation or those who simply want to relax. Posted: 03 May 2012 08:08 AM PDT Side tables are very practical and functional. They are useful everywhere in the house and they are usually simple. There are many different designs, shapes and sizes when it comes to side tables but some of the most interesting such pieces are the industrial ones. Here's how you can create a beautiful industrial side table by yourself. It's not nearly as difficult as it looks. You just need to gather all the materials and get to work. Start by trimming four 15'' legs and eight 18'' rails from the L angles. They're not difficult to find. The process might take time but the rest gets simpler. After you're done with that, use painter's tape to mark the places where you'll cut. After you do that, file the ends smooth.
Now that these pieces are ready, start by connecting a 15'' leg to two 18'' rails. You should be able to create a table corner. Continue connecting the rest of the rails and legs until you have assembled them all. Secure them in place. Next, cut a piece of plywood with the dimensions of 18½”×18½”. This will be the top. You can sand it or paint it. Attach it to the base with screws. Now you're done. You have a lovely side table with a simple but appealing industrial look. It's going to be very useful and, because of its design, it's also quite versatile. You can adapt and change the design and you can also add your personal twist.{found on lowescreativeideas}. Elegant washbasin and toiletry cabinet Posted: 03 May 2012 05:42 AM PDT This modern design was created and designed by Meneghello Paolelli. The name of the washbasin unit with mirror is Vanity. It is called vanity because it has a very prestigious look and I think it will sparkle in your bathroom with grace. It has a diameter of 120 on top where it has a mirror and a washing space and a lot of space to fit your bathroom things. The Vanity washbasin with mirror is from the collection line of Ypsilon from Padova,Italy. The Vanity washbasin unit with mirror could go perfectly in your bathroom as well as in your dressing room where you can get dressed and then find the correct makeup for your chosen clothes. It has a beautiful clean white color and a great design, I think it looks more like a table and in this way it has a dual use.
The beautiful modern washbasin has two finishes. The first one is made from white, including the mirror support, and the second one is a combination of white and chrome that gives a more beautiful shinning color to your space. This Vanity washbasin has storage boxes where your stuff will fit perfectly. In its form the designer incorporated a beautiful round mirror that can rotate in many directions depending on your position. The Vanity washbasin will be shown at the Salone Internazionale del Bagno this year. Make your life easier with this beautiful washbasin and you will find joy and relaxation with it. Colorful Foldable Chair by Andrés Lhima Posted: 03 May 2012 05:07 AM PDT The Foldable Chair that Andrés Lhima designed is nothing like the traditional foldable chairs we're used with. The name instantly awakens the image of a small and practical chair that can be folded and that's also portable. Well, this is indeed a practical piece of furniture, it's a chair, it's foldable, but it's not what we would have expected. First of all, the dimensions of the chair are larger than we expected. That's because this is no ordinary folding chair. It was designed by Andrés Lhima back in 2009 and it doesn't have a solid structure. Instead, it encourages people to repurpose things. The chair is portable and foldable and it was designed to be filled by the user with anything from PET bottles to paper, fallen leaves, to bags and cloths. It's an unconventional method but also a very clever idea.
The chair is very versatile. You can basically use anything you can find near you to fill it and to then be able to comfortable sit on it. The interior of the chair features seat and back cushions and this ensures a certain level of comfort. Everything else depends on you and the choice you make when it comes to finding materials to fill the chair with. The interior is also very easy to clean so there's nothing to worry about. The dimensions of this unusual chair are 15.5l x 11.5″w pouch and when it's assembled it measures 29h x 29l x 17.75″d. it's made of plastic mesh and it's produced in Mexico.Available for $85$. Traditional English Cottage With Timber Beams Posted: 03 May 2012 04:26 AM PDT Some people still prefer living into traditional houses, full of antique objects to remind them of their special moments from their lives. At the price of £995,000, a delightful English property dated from the 1490s according to the owner's information was put on the market through Barton Wyatt agency. The four-bedroom cottage is located at a short drive from Egham, Staines and Windsor shopping Centres in England, so the inhabitants have access to all the facilities they need. Although it is an old house with plenty of traditional and natural objects, it had to be updated to the current needs of the owners. The original building included some spectacular old beams which I think they create the illusion of a higher space, because the white ceilings aren't as high as we would expect.
The kitchen is absolutely amazing. Besides the fact that it is fully equipped with the newest appliances, it still keeps a traditional vibe that reminds us of childhood and summer holydays spent at our grandparents. Five magnificent fireplaces are decorated with many interesting objects that owners wanted to place there to remember about their beautiful moments. The living area is filled with quality wooden furniture and antique sofas which are emphasized by the contrast with the soft colored carpet from the floors. The master bedroom is very complex; besides the dark wooden finishes from the walls and beautiful furniture which match with the rest of the decorations, it is also very useful and elaborate. Small windows keep away the excessive heat and light, so the owners have both intimacy and comfort when they are relaxing. If we are looking from the exterior, we can see a big and beautiful greenhouse, a space where the owners can spend time taking care of their plants or perhaps just enjoying a coffee.{found on site}. The Sunday wall light and shelf Posted: 03 May 2012 03:40 AM PDT Sunday is a very interesting and very practical product that manages to combine looks and functionality in an innovative way. Sunday was designed by Frost Produkt in collaboration with Martina Carpelan in 2010. It's a strange-looking product that is a combination of two different items. Sundat is botha wall light and a shelf. These two elements have been combined and the result was this simple and practical new piece. The wall light part from this piece can be lit using either a bulb or a candle. So depending on your mood you can choose one or even both if you feel the need to do so. Frost Produkt came up with this unusual design after being invited by the Norwegian design magazine Design Interiør to create a lamp within the timeframe of a week. The name was cleverly chosen as well.
The Sunday lamp and shelf combination is very versatile item. You can use it as a bedside table where it will be very practical when you wish to read a book or when you need a subtle light. The fact that it can also be lit by a candle makes it even more versatile and it allows it to be sued in romantic situation. You can also use it on the hallway, in the dining room or everywhere you think it might be useful. The lamp is ingenious enough by itself and the combination with the shelf is just an extra touch of functionality. The body of the lamp is made of steel and it can be either black or white. It uses E27 bulbs, max 60 W 220V – 240V ~ 50Hz. It's a simple and very practical item. Extraordinary one bedroom flat in the middle of Stockholm Posted: 03 May 2012 02:42 AM PDT We all want space, because it makes us feel free and comfortable, that's why people search for large, multi-room apartments. But that doesn't mean that an apartment with less rooms doesn't offer us the cosines we need. The next apartment is a good example of how a one bedroom flat can offer us all the space we need. This interior breaks all misconceptions because it proves that you can mix different designs in only one spacious room without crowding the place or making it look kitschy. The flat has 690 square foot and gathers a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room with balcony and only a sleeping room. The main advantage of the place is that is it very bright so it offers the impression of space. The bathroom, the kitchen and the bedroom are painted in light pastel colors to increase that feeling and their simple design makes them look very airy.
The innovation and the imagination challenge come into the living room. Despite the clean and light aspect of the rest of the apartment, this room has an old, used aspect, but which gives the impression of a cozy nest. The old decay design is in concordance with the year of the building's construction, which was finished in 1906. The furniture has a wasted look which is boosted by a brick wall which sits next to an old stove. The most original element comes from a old school DJ desk placed under a light signal which says 'HOT'. The apartment is located in central Stockholm, Sweden and is out of sale for $590,000.
