| Luxurious renovation in Cape Town by Antoni Associates Posted: 25 Nov 2011 06:57 AM PST This impressive residence is located in Cape Town, South Africa, on the slopes of Signal Hill. The location is very beautiful as the residence overlooks the Atlantic Seaboard and the historic Robben Island. This was originally a SAOTA residence and the clients recently decided to renovate it in order to make it more modern and luxurious. For that, they contacted Antoni Associates.
The request was to create a cutting edge 21st century residence with a luxurious interior design. The clients also needed an additional two bedrooms for their children, a gym and a home cinema. The renovation turned out to be quite extensive and complex. The residence also had a pool terrace and that had to be taken care of too in order to make it suitable for entertainment and relaxation as well.
As for the interior design, the residence has been refurbished with a combination of bespoke pieces and imported branded furniture items. The residence has an open plan living and dining room where a bar is also located, featuring a custom-designed humidor for an extensive cigar collection. The kitchen has a high gloss white finish and marble countertops.
The outdoor entertainment areas have been redesigned as well. Now they also include a gazebo pavilion, outdoor dining and grill areas and a raised deck. The infinity pool is really beautiful and it also provides panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. | Surprise wooden crates by naihan li Posted: 25 Nov 2011 04:31 AM PST This furniture series is probably the most versatile anyone has ever designed. The Crates were designed by architect and designer Naihan li. The inspiration for this unique and unusual furniture series came from the urban habitat of Beijing where many buildings are being renovated. So if people are constantly changing their lifestyle and habitat, why not make it easier by giving them a piece that does exactly that?
The Crates are a series of wooden boxes that, when close, look like ordinary crates. The surprise comes when you open them. The crates then reveal furniture, such as sofas, beds, desks with chairs, wardrobes and even foosball tables. Imagine how simple it would be to have them all in one box. Of course, you can only use the crate for one function at a time but still, it's remarkable that you can change its look and function so easily.
The crates can easily store away and conceal the furniture to make the room more versatile. This way, you can move your kitchen into the living room or your desk on the terrace in no time. It's like you have a compact home inside a crate and you can take anywhere you want. It's definitely something very practical that can only be useful in a home. I suppose you could also paint the box if you don't like it this way, although it was intended to have a natural look. | Flaming Lips Residence in Oklahoma Posted: 25 Nov 2011 02:57 AM PST This project in Oklahoma City, USA is desiged to house a rock singer and a photograph. Both artists, Michelle Martin-Coyne and his husband Wayne wanted something to fulfill their aspectations from a modern, practical home, in which a rock band can practice and an photographer can work without bumping into each other.
It was done in steps, part after part this compound becomed a residence.Quality materials like the marble an the floor and wood for furnishing including tables, chairs, cabinets a big comfortable couch, decorative pillows combined with a wood like color for the walls transforms the living room into a perfect place for a family to hang out and relax.
The master bedroom has an original design.Turquoise curtains filter the light coming in from big windows and a custom bed is facing a very unique fireplace situated in the middle of the room suspended from the wall.
Also unique is the carpet beneath the fireplace, a circular turquoise carpet having drawn on it a skull.I think that room was decorated to meed especially the husband's taste .What is really interesting is the bathroom. From the outside it looks like a dinosaur egg, but inside is like a "stone age" room with irregular shapes and "carved" holes that includes the shower and a Japanese- inspired soaking tub.
The Coynes participated in the actual renovation and design of this house and that can be seen in many aspects on the entire home. After all it is designed and build by artists, and what else would result from an artist 's hand than art.{found on homedsgn} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Flaming Lips Residence in Oklahoma |
| The importance of details in interior decoration Posted: 25 Nov 2011 02:00 AM PST When designing or decorating a home it's always important to pay attention to small details. Of course, the other elements like the color theme or the big furniture are also important but it's often the little details that make the difference between a bright and fun home and a beautiful but boring one.
When I say small or little details I don't necessarily refer to the actual size. Such detail can also consist in the texture or color of the floors for example or in the way the pattern from the wallpaper matches the furniture. When you usually find yourself in the spot when you've done everything you had to, you've furnished and redecorated the house but there's still something missing, that means it's time to add some more details.
This means you can add some colorful pillows on the sofa for example. This would add some color and would also make the room seem more inviting. Also, you could choose some pictures of artwork to display on the walls. Flowers are also a common choice when it comes to decorations. In the end, the most important thing when decorating a home is to be careful at the way the materials combine and the way the colors and textures work together. Make sure they don't clash and always try to see beyond the obvious.{found on Alhvem} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to The importance of details in interior decoration |

| Beautiful 19th Century House with a Modern Twist Posted: 24 Nov 2011 09:00 PM PST Classical and elegant have their own colours. The combination of white and black, pure and evil, heaven and hell, ying and yang is the graphical representation of balance. The owner of this property wants to reveal an inner side of his. This concept is transposed in the design elements found in every conner of the house. On the stairways we find a message that refers to how simple things are really the true joy of life.
The place is decorated to meet the creator's image about modern, clean, functional and last but no least maybe the most importat feature of this is the warm family environment.Pictures usually personalize the space, giving it a warm feeling of shelter, of protection .The simple straight lines of the house landmarks of the Mérésiene brand, created by Sandrine Zigler-Munck are realised through the woodpanelling , white plain uninterrupted walls, square vintage cabinets, refurbished to blend perfectly into the interior's theme.
The only curved shapes found in the design are part of the furniture and one drawing on a wall that represents a window looking into another dimension. Also another dimension is created by the alternation of white and black floors giving to different rooms a different ambiance. This is in fond a place of contrasts, but not contrasting with each other.{found on designattractor} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Beautiful 19th Century House with a Modern Twist |
