12 Clock by David Weatherhead

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 11:01 AM PST

I wear a normal but very simple watch that has some nice small rubies instead of the usual numbers telling the time. I like these watches because they are a bit unusual and you need a bit more attention to realize what time it is. That is why my daughter hates my watch, as she is small and only knows the numbers. But since I like unusual stuff which don’t have be be easy to understand either, I loved the 12 Clock by David Weatherhead the minute I saw it. It is actually a normal clock, except the fact that it does not have numbers and has 12 sides instead.

12 Clock by David Weatherhead

What is amazing about the design of this clock is its simplicity. It’s nothing more than a black or colourful dodecagon with white arms that tell the time when they get to the sharp edges of the 12 sides. And since one day has 12 hours and the clock has 12 edges, it’s pretty simple. The clock looks great on any wall in any room and has a clock mechanism powered by an AA battery. It’s just as simple as that. It is made of plastic and can be bought for £25.00, directly from GOODD, the producer.

Perspective Mirror

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 10:08 AM PST

I am sure you have all noticed that your reflection in the mirror depends a lot on the angle of the mirror, the accuracy and the light reflected by it. It reminds me of the old fairs where you entered the hall of mirrors where you could see yourself reflected in a dozen different ways, either too fat or too long, too wavy or with an unusually big head.

I also know it is very important to have a good mirror when you shave or make up, so you need one that you can adjust depending on the angle you need. How about having a special mirror that will show your face in a dozen angles, all at the same time? This way you can check all facets and all the parts of your face and body. This is the Perspective Mirror that gives you perspective.

This mirror is actually made of many smaller mirrors that are oriented in different ways in different angles and you can only see the final result. It is made of mirrored glass and steel and has a nice matte black finish.Also can be used on living room bedroom not only in bathroom. It is made in Taiwan and you can order it online for just $149.

Creative workspace with blackboard designed by Gispen Huiswerk

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 08:18 AM PST

There are lots of ways to design a workspace. Usually, most of them are plain and boring, with a desk, a chair and maybe a lamp or something. Others are a little more creative and colors and added as well as some decorations maybe. But here's a very interesting and creative workspace from Gispen Huiswerk.

Creative workspace designed

Not only that it's not boring and plain, but it's filled with inspirations. This work area is very creative and flexible. I really like the blackboard walls. They provide a lot of freedom and they stimulate the imagination and creativity. Whenever you have an idea you can just put it on the blackboard and this will help you visualize it better. Also, notice the interesting furniture. There's a mix of styles in there but it looks great in this context.

There aren't a lot of colors in there. It's not a space meant to be elegant or stylish. It's a space meant to be flexible and to allow creative work to develop in there. It's the kind of space that looks messy but it's actually very nicely organized.

If you feel like your own workspace could use some new ideas, you can get some inspiration from these pictures. You can actually make some cool improvements by yourself. For example, the blackboard walls are pretty easy to create. Then all you have to do is adapt the rest of the space to your personal needs.{found on vosgesparis}

Vistas del Angel’s Beautiful Homes

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 06:44 AM PST

Dream homes…these are two words that we often hear from people when talking about architecture. Also, this is what we want for our own house to look like, to be luxurious and beautiful, just as we thought it would be. If you want some inspiration, then take a look at this gorgeous home named Vistas del Angel.

Antigua-based studio LAKP Diseño & Desarrollo have designed this lovely house that consists of 12 amazing homes. Located in Guatemala City, perched on a steep sloping terrain this residence captures beautiful views of the surroundings. Spread across 2,700 square feet of space, Vistas del Angel offers a loft-like interior space for you to enjoy. This building was designed in three phases, making sure that the home will be able to sustain its own weight in the seismically active area.

All the homes have long glass expanses giving a clear view of the nature. The walls are light gauge steel sandwich panels; some of them also have a wooden Prodema rainscreen built out of aluminum composite materials. The interior spaces are luxurious, have modern furnishings, state of the art appliances and are enriched by exposing the structure steel.

Vistas del Angel was a project designed for affluent professionals in their thirties, so they developed a contemporary lifestyle. It is truly a gorgeous place to call home.{found on homedsgn}

Les Montgolfières Containers by FX Balléry

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 05:33 AM PST

Although I was not a fan or too attracted to Jules Verne's books I just loved some films made after his novels."80 Days around the World" is one of my favorite movies. The appearance of the hot air balloon has always fascinated me and I wished that I was one of the lucky passengers of this type of mean of traveling. Imagine how nice the world looks like from the upper sky and how powerful you can feel to see the whole world under your feet. Perhaps the shape of balloon is one of the images that has always reminded us of childhood and its adventurous character and fascinated us regardless our age.
Les Montgolfières Containers by FX Balléry

The designer FX Balléry was also inspired by all these things and created a collection of nice three wood bowls called Les Montgolfières. They represent some lovely containers of different sizes and colors and where you can put all sorts of sweets: cookies, candies, jellies or biscuits.

They are practical and look very nice on your table. Your kids would love their dynamic shape that imitates the form of a hot air balloon. Their nice appearance will always bring a smile on your face and will remind you of some lovely moments of your childhood.

Elegant black and white interior duplex

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 04:07 AM PST

Black and white is a timeless combination of colors. It's been a popular choice for years and it's unlikely to disappear all of the sudden. It's used in basically everything but mostly in fashion and interior decorations. Let's take a look at a stylish black and white interior and see exactly what is it that makes it so beautiful.

black and white interior duplex living

This duplex has been decorated almost entirely in black and white. The walls and the ceilings are white and the floors are light grey. The same colors have been used throughout the apartment and the result is a uniform look. The furniture is either completely white or completely black. It's interesting that there are no combinations. That's probably because the designer wanted to create strong contrasts.

In the kitchen for example, the furniture is white. This creates a bright and spacious décor and it's the best solution in this case. White might not be a favorite color in the kitchen because it gets easily dirty and it requires a lot of attention but when you want to create an elegant and uniform look I think that's a sacrifice worth to be made.

Anyway, the duplex is not entirely decorated in black and white. There some small spots of colors but they can be seen in decorations such as artwork, pillows and flowers.{found on BoBedre}

The 3600 square foot loft in the Union Square Area

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 03:20 AM PST

This modern and chic loft is located in Manhattan, New York and the beautiful interior design that you see there was created by Naiztat + Ham Architects. The 3600 square foot loft in located in the Union Square Area of Manhattan. It’s a representation of the industrial era or at least it was until the team of architects decided to change all that.

Even though now the loft looks nothing like it did before, there are still some original features that are visible throughout. For example, the tall vaulted ceilings, the structural steel columns and the open floor configuration are all elements reminding of the loft’s original structure. Several modifications have been made to this loft and they are not all related to this particular remodel. The loft still manages to harmoniously combine fucntion with luxury, even after all these years and all these changes.

The current décor of the loft is minimalist, airy and still quite industrial-looking. The space was opened up and the living spaces were defined without using doors or walls. The goal was to create a simple but unconventional interior design. There’s an uniform look throughout the loft and all the rooms seem to continue the same décor, as it would be advised in this case. There is very little furniture and the existing pieces are extremely simple and usually grey. There’s not a lot of color in there.

Pet-themed pillow collection from Naked Décor

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 02:33 AM PST

Here’s a very interesting idea: using half-naked guys to sell off pillows. While the idea is interesting and fun in theory, it doesn’t make much sense when put in practice. Take this cute collection for example. It’s a collection of pet-themed pillows, otherwise very cute and fun.But when presenting them like this, it takes the cuteness out of the design and puts kinkyness in its place.

Let’s focus our attention however on thepillows. As we’ve already mentioned, the pillows feature pet-related designs. Some of them are more simple while others are quite fun and ingenious. My favorites would have to be those two-piece prints with one half on the dog on one pillow and the other or another one.

The collection is pretty versatile and it offers a variety of colors, combinations of colors and various prints. For animal lovers this is a very inspiring collection.

Even though that kind of guys is not my type, I have to admit that the idea of turning an innocent pet-themed pillow collection into a sexy show wasn’t completely out of line. It’s fun and it puts a smile on one’s face, even though it’s not always admiration. And, to be honest, this is what the guys from Naked Décor do, hence the name. Overall, it’s an interesting, fun and surprising way of presenting this otherwise very beautiful pillow collection.

“Moon Base Alpha” a mid century modern home

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 12:33 AM PST

There are people who are in love with space, spaceships, UFOs and all kinds of things that are related to these elements. One of these people is also one of my uncles. He loves everything that is related to these subjects. Perhaps his interest comes from his passion for planes and his job as a lieutenant in aviation. He has all sorts of tiny planes at home, books with all sorts of subjects related to UFOs and he loves SF movies. It seems that his passion was inherited by one of my brothers and me too. We both love planes and we were fascinated by SF movies when we were kids.

Valery and Tony have a mid century modern home and they love space age furniture from the 60s and 70s.You can admire their splendid and elegant "Moon Base Alpha" Room where there is a total symmetry between the elegant colors they chose: white, red and black and the shapes of the pieces of furniture where round, oval and spherical shapes dominate all the interior.

The round lamps look like the magic full moon that appears on the starry sky and the round stools, oval tables or semispherical chairs complete this charming picture of a modern and stylish room where the vintage elements that belong to the 60s or 70s add some elegance and fragrance of those times.{found on apartmenttherapy}

Unconventional bathroom design with built-in bike

Posted: 13 Nov 2011 11:59 PM PST

There are plenty of used bikes out there and some of them are not for riding anymore. But they still need a new home. Here’s an idea: use them around the house as decorative items or as functional pieces. You can either hang them on the walls for a nice, but clichee look, or yo can use them for something a little more original.

Bike bathroom

A fun way of integrating an old bike into the house is to make it part of the décor and use it as a functional piece. We found a very interesting bathroom décor that includes a bike. It sounds unusual at first and there’s aren’t many bathrooms with bikes in them. But just because hasn’t really been used in a certain way before this doesn’t mean you can’t start a new tradition. This bathroom décor is perfect to demonstrate this theory.

The bike is built-in under the sink and it functions as a pedestal replacement. This way the bike is functional and fun in the same time, helping create an unusual and original bathroom décor. The owner of that house can honesty say that he/she has a unique bathroom. The idea can be applied for other items as well. Just figure out what exactly is that you like and you’re passionate about and then try to incorporate that particular item into you home décor. All you have t do is be creative and use your imagination.{found on benjamin site}
