The White Contemporary Building from Mistelbach Posted: 08 Nov 2011 10:14 AM PST This contemporary structure a striking family residence and it's located in Mistelbach, Austria, a place where unusual and modern examples of striking architecture are not that common and are introduced with reticence. The White Monolith, as this house is called, was designed by Lostinarchitecture with the help of structural engineer DI Karl Fischer The construction was completed in 2011. The house covers a total area of 315.94 square meters. The house is very striking, especially when you find yourself on a busy street in this town filled with traditional and not that interesting building and you suddenly find yourself in front of this impressive structure. Even though white is perceived as a cold color, this white house seems friendly and inviting. Maybe it's because of its shape.
The house has a compact structure and it's a single piece. Still, the interior is functionally divided into several areas. The living area is carefully separated from the noisy outdoor space can be reached through the driveway. Everyday spaces such as the kitchen, the living room, the parents' bedroom and the child's bedroom are located on the garden side. The house also includes a study with church view, as the clients required. As for the décor, all the furniture and fittings are white. Still, the atmosphere is surprisingly cozy and inviting.{pics by Gebhard Sengmüller and found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to The White Contemporary Building from Mistelbach |
Before and after mirror decoration for the dining room Posted: 08 Nov 2011 08:30 AM PST Whenever you’re short on money or you simply refuse to pay that much for a particular object for your home, a creative idea would be to try to recreate that something in your own way, using recycled elements or items you can buy at garage sales or things like that. Here’s an example of how a simple old mirror was turned into a very chic decorative item. The mirror used for this project was not brand new but it was new for that particular home and also, it was transformed into something different do it didn’t even resemble the old piece anymore. The mirror was bought to be used in the dining room. The owner of this house used to have an old Victorian mirror in the old home and wanted to recreate that image but with something new and fresh. The objective of this project was to come up with something simple and bold, something new and unique that would integrate naturally into the décor and that would make a great decoration.
The mirror was first of all painted black with some golden tones. It wasn’t new so it was no use to make it seem new so instead an antique-chic look was chosen for it. The frame was then sprayed in a gold/copper tone. When the paint was dry the frame also got a layer of black gloss latex. When that too was dry light green paint was used for the crevices of the frame. At the end some sandpaper was used to rough up the edges for a more authentic look. Now the mirror is a beautiful ornament for the dining room and it sits above the mantel.{found on inmyownstyle} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Before and after mirror decoration for the dining room |
Tubular steel chair by Marcel Breuer Posted: 08 Nov 2011 07:17 AM PST There are things that never get old or that, when they do, they are even more beautiful and interesting. When it comes to furniture these things are usually antiques. Still, there are certain designs that are simple and so functional that we still find them beautiful even these days. One of those items is this steel chair. It was designed by Marcel Breuer and it dates back to, believe it or not, 1929. The chair is part of the THONET Collection and it come sin two models: with or without armrests. The main reason why this chair is still very appreciated, even after all these years, is because it has a simple design, with a simple shape and a with no unnecessary details that over time only get old and ugly. The chair has a chrome-plated tubular steel frame so it's durable and strong, ready to be part of your home for many years to come. It also includes some wooden parts that are made from stained beech. As for the seat it's wither, wicker, plastic, mesh or upholstered and covered with leather or fabric.
It's a classic piece with a simple structure and an ingenious aesthetic combination of tubular steel, wood and wicker. This chair along with other models has been produced by Thonet since 1930. The chair is especially versatile and it can be used in dining rooms, in offices, conference rooms, waiting areas, restaurants, terraces etc. Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Tubular steel chair by Marcel Breuer |

Posted: 08 Nov 2011 04:26 AM PST We've partially presented part of this collection in one of our other articles. Here's a more detailed description of the Sax collection. It was designed by Rafa García in 2006, as we've also mentioned in the other article. It's a modern collection that is still perceived as such even today, more than 5 years later. It's unseen but it's certainly interesting and unusual. The Sax collection is one of the most versatile and modular creations. Not only that it has a design that can be adapted to all sorts of spaces, like the living room, the dining room, the bedroom, the office, indoor terraces etc, but each piece can be combines and adapted as to match your exact needs. The collection is basically formed of geometrical blocks. These blocks can be combines like the pieces of a puzzle and use to create sofas, armchairs, sectionals and even tables.
The beautiful thing about this collection is that the pieces are extremely simple, They all have geometrical shapes and they are compact and bold. There are a lot of things you can create with these pieces. It's fun and very functional, not to mention that this way you'll never get bored of your furniture or want to replace it. Moreover, you can easily change the décor of your home without a lot of effort, time or money. The modules come in different shapes, sizes and colors. Since it's still autumn even though winter might get mad to hear this, we'll still be using colors like orange, brown and yellow. Here are some ideas of how you can use them to create lovely table decorations for Thanksgiving. Bright autumnal table settings
For this you would have to decide on the color you want to use and then try to recreate that mental imagine with what you can find in your home. Use colorful dishes and combine the color for a more elaborate look. You could try to find some colorful napkins and small decorations that could be used on the table such as candles for example. Also, the chairs can be redecorated. Decorating the plates For this you could find some colorful plates or some that have expressive images specially created for this occasion. If not you can just use plain simple plates and add yellow, orange or red napkins and maybe a leaf as a decoration. You can also come up with other ideas and adapt them to what you already have in your home. Autumn bouquets Flowers are very beautiful and the best part is that there are certain types of flowers that grow only during certain periods of the year. You can use those to form some beautiful bouquets and use them as decorations. Use multiples species and colors for a more dynamic and colorful bouquet or stick with your favorite flower. Cosmopolitan bathroom furniture collection Posted: 08 Nov 2011 02:52 AM PST Bathrooms are usually bright and decorated in colors like white, sky blue, beige etc. But just because this is almost a standard it doesn't mean it's the only way to do it. If you prefer something different, something unique, Collection Alexandra offers you the possibility to make that happen. This furniture collection will help you decorate your bathroom cosmopolitan-style. Even though black is not the first color that comes in our minds when decorating our bathroom, it could be stylish if used properly. Take for example this furniture collection. The pieces are almost entirely black and they look great. Of course, they can also be purchased in white. Still, the black walls in the picture seem very appealing to me. It sounds like a drastic change but it's not that dramatic when you look at it.
The collection is both stylish and functional. The cabinets offer plenty of storage space for all the items that needs to stay in the bathroom, from towels to lotions and other things. Notice the little details that make this collection unique. The pieces have those handles and buckles we usually find it suitcases and luggage. The leather edging and corners are in the same category. The collection comes in several different colors and finishes. For a complete décor you can also choose to purchase matching mirrors, faucets and other items. The unique Hitoshi Uchida House Posted: 08 Nov 2011 02:10 AM PST You've probably seen plenty of modern houses so the word "modern" or "contemporary" doesn't really say much to you at this point. However, I can honestly say that this is a unique house, one of the most interesting I've seen in a while. The Hitoshi Uchida House is situated somewhere in Kamakura, Japan. I really don't know the exact location but that's not very important anyway. The beautiful thing about this house, besides the natural landscape surrounding it, is the fact that the interior design is so personalized and so casual that it's impossible to adapt it somewhere else. This is an interior designed for this home only. As you can see, there are many interesting details, from the furniture to the combination of textures and styles and to the way some decorations seems to have been casually placed there as by mistake. It's a type of décor that doesn't seem planned when it actually is.
Notice the minimalist furniture and all those little details and decorations that make this home unique. I especially like the chandelier from what seems to be a dining room. The furniture seems so old and at one point you even the feeling that you're in an abandoned old house. Still, this is a contemporary home with a unique interior design. It would be very hard to even try to reproduce the décor.{found on theselby} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to The unique Hitoshi Uchida House |
Elegant and Spacious Penthouse in Stockholm Posted: 08 Nov 2011 12:30 AM PST This spacious place is a penthouse and it's located somewhere in Stockholm. The exact address is not mentioned but we don't need that to realize that this is a very beautiful home. The penthouse is very spacious and not just because the rooms are large. The interior design also contributes to the overall bright and simple look. The walls and ceilings have been painted white throughout the whole place with no exceptions. This creates the visual impression of a larger space. The tall ceilings are also a big plus in this case because they completely change the atmosphere. The floors are covered with wood and they have natural color, even though different throughout the apartment. This apartment is an example of an airy interior design, modern and simple, one that can be adapted to other homes as well, regardless of the structure or the size or the rooms. The penthouse is located in the Birkastan neighborhood in Stockholm and I can only imagine that it's not the only stylish apartment in the area.
The living room is the center of this place. It has large windows and a minimalist décor. There's a large and comfortable sofa in there and there's also plenty more space for the armchairs, the piano and the chic glass table. The living room also includes a cozy fireplace and a wide screen TV. The bedrooms are very cozy and inviting, with built-in wardrobes and a walk-in closet and a private bathroom in the case of the larger bedroom. All the bathrooms have underfloor heating.{found on Skeppsholmen} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Elegant and Spacious Penthouse in Stockholm |
