Tasteful and pleasant Swedish apartment Posted: 05 Nov 2011 05:28 AM PDT There are lots of chic and stylish apartments all over the world. It would be impossible to enumerate or even find all of them but at least we can show some of them and maybe raise your interest. Here's a very beautiful apartment that's located in somewhere in Sweden, not sure where exactly. Anyway, it's the interior design that makes it special. Most of the walls are white and so are some of the floors and ceilings. This makes the apartment seem bigger even though it's a fairly small place. It's a simple and very common trick and it works every time. Besides the white, the other colors used in the interior are mostly pastels. The delicate tones are both relaxing and chic.
I particularly enjoy the way the colors and textures have been combined. A good example would be the kitchen which is almost entirely white except for that eye-catching print. Notice how most of the furniture from this apartment is white. The only colorful things are the decorations like decorative pillows, candlesticks, flowers, pictures hanging on the walls and occasionally eve the wallpaper like the one in the bedroom. Overall this is a tasteful apartment with a beautiful décor. It seems so inviting despite the large amount of white used in there which is usually a cold color.{found on alvhem} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Tasteful and pleasant Swedish apartment |

The Carr Hall Castle in Yorkshire Posted: 05 Nov 2011 03:17 AM PDT Castles are very rare nowadays. They are seen more like a reminiscence of the past, like historic elements and some of them have been turned into museum. Nevertheless, this only makes them seem more special and when we stumbled across this beautiful castle that is still being used as a home we had to share it with you. The Carr Hall Castle is actually the home of Leeds entrepreneurs Terry George and Michael Rothwell. The owners had to put a lot of work into this place in order to make it look like it does now. They had to spend more than 4 years and almost £1 million in order to restore the castle. The process involved restoring the walls and taking them back to their original brickwork and also adding a modern touch to the interior.
This luxurious castle, located in a secluded, wooden valley somewhere between Leeds and Manchester, is now an opulent but still elegant and stylish place, with deep colors, dark wood and interesting combinations of textures and materials. The castle sits on 12 acres of lush land and the property also includes an outdoor courtyard with a barbeque area and a lake. Since it's such a beautiful place in such a romantic location, it would have been a pity not to let more people admire and enjoy it. That's why the castle is now available for hire for a home stay. Impressive Malibu residence with indoor glass pool Posted: 04 Nov 2011 09:32 PM PDT This impressive and striking residence is located in Malibu, California, USA and it was designed by Associados . It's a modern residence with an attractive design and a colorful interior décor. The walls, ceilings and floor are painted either white or beige throughout the house thus creating the impression of an even larger space. In order to compensate for that, vivid colors have been used here and there. The interior design features straight clean lines, an element specific to contemporary architecture. The materials used for the interior décor are mostly leather, velvet, metal and glass. The furniture is composed especially of Italian creations and there are some pieces acquired at auctions in New York. These pieces really stand out, like the Campana Brothers' chair and the curvy stainless steel sofa by Ron Arad for example.
The décor with the stylish furniture and the modern art from the walls is beautiful but the most striking element is by far the indoor pool. Including it into the design wasn't easy but in the end everything worked out ok. The pool is directly connected to the terrace and from there it seems like a huge glass box filled with water. There's an interesting external staircase that connects the terrace to the master, another difficult element that required lots of planning.{found on freshome} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Impressive Malibu residence with indoor glass pool |
The new Astral Media Office Interior Design by Lemay Associés Posted: 04 Nov 2011 06:12 PM PDT Astral Media recently relocated approximately 350 employees in downtown Montreal, Canada. Obviously, a new office was needed. Lemay Associés were the ones who designed the interior. There were some clear requirements to this project: the creation of flexible meeting spaces, a contemporary, energetic and versatile working environment for the employees and new furniture standards. The project was a challenge but the results were very satisfying. The new space is modern and youthful and is able to accommodate a large number of employees, as opposed to the previously dispersed organization. This facilitates the interaction between employees, another one of the original requirements.
The office includes, besides the employees' workstations, a main reception area and several meeting spaces such as conference and meeting rooms, agora etc. there's also series of common areas such as the dining room, the lounge area, the café or the copy center and these spaces can be found on each floor. Moreover, each floor has its own color. The levels are connected by a glass staircase. This is a very good example of a flexible, functional ad modern workspace with bright interiors and energetic and fresh decors. It's the kind of office that any employee would love. It makes work seem less difficult and I'm sure productivity increases in such an environment, more than in a dark, lonely and sad space. The Clayfield House by Shaun Lockyer Architects Posted: 04 Nov 2011 04:42 PM PDT The Clayfield House is a contemporary residence and it was designed and created by Shaun Lockyer Architects. The house is located in Brisbane, Australia. It covers an area of 450 sqm and it was completed in 2011. The project actually consisted in redesigning an already existing house that dated from the 1890s. The house had been previously renovated but it still didn't feel right for the owners. Even though the house was spacious and in great conditions, it's design didn't really take into consideration the site's attributions and so it didn't address the needs of contemporary living in that area. The house had to be re-programmed. As a result, three pods were added. There's obviously a distinction in terms of materials and architecture between the old and the new structures but this doesn't create a conflict.
The new structure of the house allows previous dark and under-utilized spaces to be now filled with light and functional. The old and new harmoniously combine and create a unitary structure. The clients' at first a little skeptical about this project, are now very happy with the results. They got what they wanted and now they can enjoy their new home for many years to come. They now have more freedom in terms of future renovations, not that it's going to happen soon.{found on archdaily and pics by Aperture Photography} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to The Clayfield House by Shaun Lockyer Architects |

The chair was designed to be very comfortable and it features a beautiful silhouette, with curved lines and an otherwise simple design. The dimensions of this chair are 40'' height x 54'' width x 45'' depth.
