Oval Mirror With Leaves

Posted: 24 Oct 2011 11:21 AM PDT

Nothing is more personalized than a hand made object, something made by hand especially for you. You feel that a certain thing was designed and made for you and that it is unique. This oval mirror for example is really beautiful and nice, delicate and resistant at the same time. It is made of hand-forged iron and has a bronze finish. It looks great and the oval shape reminds you of perfection. The nice frame comes gently around a nice oval of beveled glass that reflects your face, but also embellishes your living room. The Oval Mirror With Leaves has two exquisite leaves on the side or on top if you turn it on the wall horizontally.

This little detail is attached to the mirror and makes it even more elegant and you can use it to fit with the other objects in your home, for example a nice wall lamp that has some similar leaves matching. I find this mirror to be mostly feminine and elegant, classy and stylish, perfect for a woman’s bedroom , whether she is a modern business woman or an old fashioned retired woman. If you like it just like I do, you can have it for $670.

Butterflies Wall Clock Decal

Posted: 24 Oct 2011 10:31 AM PDT

Clocks are very useful and I have stated that more than once. They help you have a sense of reality and always connect to everything around you. Clocks show time and you use them to always know the time and to never be late, to know what you do at a certain time, to make an agenda and to organize things that you do. But you can use these clocks for decorative purposes, too, as they have always been objects of art if made from special materials or if they have a special design. Well, the clock I found today is at least unusual, as it is nothing of the ordinary. It is a wall decal turned into a wall clock.

The outer frame of the Butterflies Wall Clock Decal is made of small butterflies that are stuck on the wall as a wall decal. Inside this frame there is a simple clock mechanism that works on batteries and moves the two clock arms. There are no numbers to show time, but we are already used to their place and can actually “read” the time even when there is no number there, but nice looking butterflies. There is a bigger butterfly for twelve o’clock and also some other butterflies flying about near the clock. That completes the picture and makes this clock a real piece of art in your living room. The manufacturer is Studio Luka and you can have it for just $49.

Tree Door by Victor Klassen

Posted: 24 Oct 2011 09:47 AM PDT

Trees are part of nature and they are certainly not humans. However, they are able to express many human feeling, or maybe we just see ourselves in them and interpret their appearance with our imagination. For example I find trees in bloom to be really “happy” and desolated leafless trees sad and miserable, like people who lost everything in life and can’t wait to end it. Maybe this is the reason why many artists have found inspiration in trees and represented them in different ways, in sculpture or painting or other art forms. This Tree Door by Victor Klassen is no exception, as it an work of art and design, an interpretation of reality.

This is actually a very beautiful wooden door that is completed by a tree trunk sculpted in relief. It shows great and looks as if coming out of the door frame. It is leafless and you can only see the empty branches and twisted trunk. It looks alive and grieving, as if for the lost leaves and everything is designed by Victor Klassen who does a great job by turning a regular door into a masterpiece. Even the door handle is indented into the door body and is made of wood and you can also choose the door to be single or double sided ($4500 or $6000 respectively).

The Jensen chair is made of European beech wood, responsibly grown and harvested, certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. The wooden frame also features a water-based finish. The cozy Jensen chair

There are several options to choose from. You can go with something minimalist like a tone of beige, brown, black or gray, or you can choose something a little more dynamic and dramatic and opt for a bold and colorful print. Using Ready Mix Concrete in Construction

Posted: 24 Oct 2011 06:35 AM PDT

Building a house or any other type of building is not easy, especially when you do it from scratch. However, there are some shortcuts you can use when you want to shorten the building time and have your project ready in time. One of them involves the use of ready-mix concrete. This is a type of concrete that is manufactured in a factory or batching plant, according to a set recipe, and then delivered to a work site, by truck mounted transit mixers. The result is a precise mixture, allowing specialty concrete mixtures to be developed and implemented on construction sites. Of course, there are some advantages that this type of concrete offers.

Using Ready Mix Concrete in Construction

Even though the first ready-mix factory was built in the 1930s, the industry didn't begin to expand until the 1960s and it's in 2010 that we were able to say that this was the most commonly used form of concrete. One of the most important advantages when using ready-mix concrete is the fact that you get to save time. As you probably know, time is usually the most important resource. Using ready-mix concrete speeds up the entire process.

Another advantage of using ready-made concrete is the high-quality of the concrete. Ready-mix concrete is consistently of a higher quality than concrete mixed on site. In other words, you'll get high-quality concrete and you'll save time and man power at the same time. Just to help you get an idea, you should know that mixing plants use natural ingredients and the standard recipes call for 10 percent to 15 percent cement, which is made up of clay, limestone, sand or shale; about 60 percent to 70 per cent aggregates, typically rock and gravel; and 20 per cent water.

The use of ready-mix concrete also reduces pollution outputs from construction sites, such as the dust created when mixing concrete on site and the possibility of unnecessary wastage due to making more than you need. Although ready-mix concrete requires special care and precautions during casting otherwise it could cause cracks and failure.More informations about ready mix concrete here.

The Larkin Armoire

Posted: 24 Oct 2011 04:28 AM PDT

An armoire is usually a fancy of way of saying wardrobe or closet. It's called like that because of the French original of the term. Outdoor inox mail box by Marcial Ahsayane

Posted: 24 Oct 2011 02:27 AM PDT

Here's a mailbox idea that I find quite interesting. It was originally described as a "green mailbox" on the site I first saw it but I have a few objections to that term. First let's analyze it a little and then we'll see the advantages and disadvantages.

Outdoor inox mail box

This cute mailbox was designed by Brussels-based designer Marcial Ahsayane and it was called Green Mailbox. It's basically a simple mailbox, shapes like a little house that features a shelf for holding a plant and an inclined roof that captures rain water to irrigate the plant. I find this piece quite interesting and cute.

Outdoor inox mail box

However, there are some elements that I don't quite understand. First of all, the mailbox will have to stay outside, in an unprotected area. This means that both the mailbox and the plant will be exposed to rain so there's no need to include the inclined roof. This will only oversaturate the plant with water.

Outdoor inox mail box

Moreover, the pot is quite small so there are limitation to the type of plant you would be able to use. It has to be small and it has to be draught-tolerant if we accept the fact that it will only use rainwater to grow. In this case, your plant will probably die very soon, either because of the lack of water or because it will drawn. However, the principle could probably be used on a larger scale where it will probably be more efficient.

Narrow House in Horinouchi by Mizuishi Architect Atelier

Posted: 24 Oct 2011 01:40 AM PDT

I'm sure you're probably wondering if you're seeing right. This house has a very unusual shape. It's a narrow building that seems to be a decoupage from a larger building. It's actually an independent structure and this is the design that the owners have chosen for their home. The house was a project designed by Japanese studio Mizuishi Architect Atelier and it's located in Horinouchi.

Narrow House in Horinouchi

The residence is a two-storey home and t was built for a family of three. It covers 595 square feet of property and it sits on a triangular lot situated between a river and a road in Suginami, one of the 23 special wards of Tokyo, Japan. Because of the unusual shape of the lot, the house had to modify the typical design and adapt it to the conditions available. This meant that the house had to be very narrow. In order to compensate with that, a second floor was added to make room for extra space.

It's an unusual home with a contemporary design. It's an example that shows us that you can adapt to almost any conditions as long as you come up with a plan. In this case the plan was to compensate the lack of floor space with a tall design. This cute little house features large windows and functionally divided space. The rooms are surprisingly spacious and the interior design is simple as not to make it seem smaller than it already is.{found on homedsgn}

What a wood carving you got. It needs maintenance, you gotta have Owatrol paint conditioner so that paint will not peel.
