Traditional Benson Chair

Posted: 15 Oct 2011 05:36 AM PDT

Traditional armchairs have slowly become out of fashion and now all we can find on the market are modern pieces of furniture, featuring the usual simple designs and neutral colors that define this particular style. However, some of us still enjoy a traditional interior design and for them it gets harder and harder to find the perfect furniture.

In an effort to ease your work, we are now presenting you the Benson armchair. Featuring a traditional design, with low legs and a compact look, the Benson chair is the type of furniture you usually see in old houses, usually in the living room, near the coffee table or near the fireplace. The key element to this design is probably the upholstery that in this case features a floral pattern on a dark background. This combination is usually associated with traditional or vintage pieces.

The overall dimensions of the Benson chair are 32.5″W 34.5″H 39″D. This model comes standard with blendown seat cushion, welt and -7B nailhead trim. Of course, if you prefer something else, you can opt for the leather version which features the same design and the same dimensions but with leather upholstery. Make sure you have plenty of space for it in your home and also if the pattern, texture and the design matches with the rest of your décor.Available here.

Swedish blogger selling her house

Posted: 15 Oct 2011 03:35 AM PDT

This beautiful black and white interior is actually the home of a Swedish blogger called Annaleena. It's a very elegant property and the interior design is especially stylish. As you can see, the décor is mostly black and white, with some colorful additions in the case of decorations. However, these are not in vibrant or bright color but rather in brown, pale pink or beige, all colors that subtly integrate into the black and white décor.

The residence is both elegant and creative. Notice the room that seems to be a children's bedroom. Is surprisingly sober for this purpose and it lacks any bright colors that kids usually like. However, there is a small bed in there and some toys, plus one of the walls includes a write-on surface.

The residence seems to have an industrial look, but it's obviously more stylish and chic than that. The space is functionally divided and every detail has its own place. Overall, this is a beautiful residence that seems to have been taken from a black and white movie. The different heights and finishes create contrast and dynamism. I would never bored admiring the decorations. I couldn't find the exact address of this residence nor the price for which the owner sells it. Nevertheless, I think we'll probably here about it again really soon.

The chair was designed by Jason Miller in 2009. And just to let you create an idea of how cozy this chair can be, you should know that it was made using bison hide, industrial felt and polyester. I dare you to find a bison that has trouble dealing with the temperature in the winter.The dimensions of the chair are 30″ x 30″ x 30″. The bison hide is definitely a rarity and, because of that, it comes with a price. You can buy this cozy chair for $7998. A Home/ Headquarters in Norway

Posted: 14 Oct 2011 10:15 PM PDT

On a remote island off the coast of Norway sits a two-storey house featuring a compact, contemporary design. It's a 2,648-square-foot structure with a geometrical façade and a striking white exterior. The house was completed in May 2010 and the cost was around $900.000. Since then the building was used both as a home and as the corporate headquarters for the Web entrepreneurs Njal Hansen Wilberg, 35, and Linn Dyveke Wilberg, 31.

The house is owned by a married couple that is also involved in other businesses among which Ask Ollie, a text-based question-and-answer service. At one point in their life they've decided to build a home. They knew that it was going to be a long and difficult process. They've realized that at some point the construction ends. However there is always something else to take care of and the work never stops.

In 2008 the couple approached odd Saunders, a Canadian-born architect based in Bergen and a rising star in contemporary Scandinavian design. They wanted their home to be tall as to be able to see the top of their office from their home. The couple had two children so they've decided to incorporate the office into the home but to make it separate from the rest of the building.

The office was placed on its own floor in a cube-shaped annex that juts out from the second story. This way the two volumes are separated and independent from each other. It's a modern way of keeping work and pleasure separated but still in close connection to each other.{found on nytimes}
