Serenity Decorative Porcelain Dishes Posted: 10 Oct 2011 11:51 AM PDT Normally dishes are made to be used when you serve dinner or lunch. You use them as support for the food and they are more useful than decorative. But these are just the ordinary dishes, the normal tableware used every day. However, there are also other kinds of dishes like these Serenity decorative porcelain dishes which have only decorative purposes. They are used for embellishing the interior of a house and nobody ever dreams about serving food in them. That is because these dishes are so thin and delicate that I don’t think they could handle food inside. These dishes are handmade of porcelain clay and the frilly margins give them a special appearance. You can buy them as a gift for somebody close who will appreciate this art form or maybe purchase them for yourself. I, for example, am totally thrilled about acquiring all kinds of unusual and unique stuff that is spread around my house giving it personality and style. You can have them for £35.00. Posted: 10 Oct 2011 10:54 AM PDT Today, with all the gadgets and computers surrounding us, with all the tiny devices that fit in your pocket, but are very powerful and use advanced technology, we almost forgot how to make simple calculations, as it is easier to use your palm or iPhone for that. Even when you go shopping you leave it all for the shop assistant who also uses a machine telling them the change they have to give you. So the old abacus that our grandparents used for simple maths is now ancient history. However, I do like the design this device had with all the colourful wooden beads. Well, the Count on Me Chair is perfect and specially designed for people who are as nostalgic as I am after the old days. The designer of this merry chair is Eva Korae and she used wood, metal sheets and colourful wooden beads for it. It looks great and if it does not provide the comfort of a soft cushion, it will certainly keep you up and offer you a great massage. If you like this crazy chair you can visit the designer’s web page and order it for 7,000 euro. Contemporary Casa Del Cabo by Andrés Remy Arquitectos Posted: 10 Oct 2011 08:57 AM PDT This beautiful and quiet house is located in a closed community on the north of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The residence is surrounded by a lake on two of its sides and this provides the owners with very beautiful views all over the year and was designed by Andrés Remy Arquitectos . The owners of this place are an elder couple and no longer lives with the children and that needed a cozy space just for them. So they’ve decided to move here, where they can enjoy the privacy and beautiful landscape that the location has to offer. The house is compact and functionally designed to offer the best views. On the east side the house features a semi-covered space in the place where the house meets the lake. This space serves as a garage and outdoor living area. It’s also where the back garden meets the front garden creating a very beautiful and relaxing environment. The part of the house facing south is more compact and intimate and offers more privacy. This is where the private rooms of the house are located, as well as the kitchen.
On the edge of the lot there’s also a pool, strategically placed in that area where it can benefit from the sun during the day. The pools also offers some of the best views that can be admired. The pool beautifully integrates into the surrounding landscape, offering a relaxing area and a fun place to spend time in. Unusual Residence by AUAU Architecture Posted: 10 Oct 2011 08:10 AM PDT This unusual residence features a very distinguished look and a simple but eye-catching architecture. It’s located in Seto, Japan and it’s a project developed by AUAU Architecture. It was built in 2010 and it has a contemporary look emphasized by the simplicity of the materials and the very neat and clean exterior design. YSY is a two-storey residence with an asymmetrical form and a very interesting and functional delimitation of the living areas. The idea was to create a small house with a contemporary look that would allow the owners to stay in close touch with nature and the landscape. The house features a semi-open entrance and several other fixtures that allow beautiful views to the outside world. There are several large windows, especially one in the kitchen that allows a generous view to the city below.
To maintain the openness of the whole structure, there are several changes in levels that create a dynamic interior design that allows more freedom of movement and a more interesting design. It’s all part of the contemporary look that needed to be achieved. There;s a mezzanine loft as well as a kitchen/dining area on the first and single floor. The whole house is wrapped in a matte-white material that creates an artistic look and further increases the contemporary finish. It’s a great residence for a small young family that needs a dynamic and interactive place to live. Historic countryside home in Salento Posted: 10 Oct 2011 05:27 AM PDT This striking residence is located in the countryside of Morciano di Leuca, Italy but with such an intriguing design it would stand out anywhere. The residence, a single-family home, was designed and created by Bologna-based architect Luca Zanaroli. As you can imagine, it wasn't easy to create this unusual residence. The designer had to work with the abandoned ruins of two historic structures that were once used as a temporary shelter for local farmers. He had to somehow transform those ruins into a home. Considering the existing structures, the new building couldn't have been dramatically different. It would have been impossible to work miracles and this wasn't even the purpose or the request. The new owners wanted to preserve the atmosphere from the once existing historic buildings and to recreate something similar but more modern.
As a result, the new residence has a very minimalist look, with walls of stone and an interior that seems in perfect harmony with the rest. For that the costructers used locally sourced stone dating back to the 1800s. The covered veranda from the enclosed courtyard is an open space where the inhabitants can enjoy the mediteranean climate at its best. Overall, this is a link between past and present, a beautiful continuity between a fallen era and a new beginning. Posted: 10 Oct 2011 04:47 AM PDT This unique piece of furniture was designed by Naoko Kanehira exclusively for Habitat. It has an unconventional design meant to increase the comfort level. Actually, when you think about it, the Naoko armchair is just a set of cushions with legs attached. That's what makes it so casual and comfortable. The back and arm cushions have approximately the same structure. The armchair features a solid pine frame covered in polyurethane foam. The oversized cushions are both attractive and comfortable. The legs are made of lacquered beech.
As for the colors, the wooden frame has a natural finish while the oversized seat cushion comes in grey and the two other in a patterned blue. The combination is relaxing and so is the chair. Such a cozy piece of furniture will make you stand in line just to use it. It would make a nice addition in the living room. However, it has a very casual design that allows it to be used in a variety of places.Available for £500.00. Summer retreat on Fire Island by Resolution: 4 Architecture Posted: 10 Oct 2011 04:01 AM PDT This beautiful summer retreat is located in Fire Island, New York, USA. It was designed and built by Resolution: 4 Architecture (RES4) in collaboration with Joseph Tanney and Robert Luntz. The house covers a 3379 sq ft area and it was completed in 2008. Fire Island is a barrier island off of Long Island, NY, a place that offers splendid views and a very friendly environment for summer houses. The house was built for a family that works and lives in Manhattan and that wanted a private place where they can spend the holidays and where they can go for some peace and relaxation. The structure of the house is divided into two volumes, one for living and one for entertainment. This way the two areas don't interfere and everyone can enjoy their favorite activities without bothering the others.
The two areas are connected by a glass bridge. The house also features a courtyard and a pool, both perfect for fun and relaxation. The house was designed to allow beautiful outdoor views while still offering privacy for the inhabitants. The private rooms of the house are located on top of a larger public area. The barrier between indoor and outdoor spaces is nearly invisible thanks to the sliding glass doors. Overall, the house has very airy and casual look, perfect for a summer retreat.{found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Summer retreat on Fire Island by Resolution: 4 Architecture |
