Posted: 06 Oct 2011 10:49 AM PDT I have always liked detective stories and I have read detective books since I started reading. Now I no longer read books, as I have no time, but I do watch detective series on TV. So no wonder I like everything about it, even the crime scene yellow tape. That is why I find this Crime Scene Fleece Throw lovely and original. I can imagine my bed covered with this throw, all black in the background and having a creepy body trace marked with the chalk and also yellow tape on the margins. Some people might find it disturbing, but I think it’s funny and very appropriate for the upcoming Halloween. This throw is very comfortable, too, as it is made of fleece, so very soft and nice to touch. It can keep you warm during the chilly autumn nights or evenings and also offer you a funny aspect for your bedroom or living room sofa. Any way, if you like it and want to purchase it, you can do this now for $15.95. The “play” children’s furniture collection by jesper k. thomsen Posted: 06 Oct 2011 10:39 AM PDT Kids are often more complicated than we anticipate it. They never cease to surprise and there's always something new to learn about them. Still, they all share something in common and it's a constant that never changes: they all like to play. This term has become a key-word in a jesper k. thomsen who created a furniture collection designed for kids and which is called simply "play". The collection includes a bench, a table, a chair, an easel and a soapbox car. They all share similar features and they all come in the same bright color, a vivid tone of yellow. The collection is designed for older kids that are already involved in school activities and that got past all the child-safe pieces of furniture.
This is collection that focuses on children and on the way they perceive the world. The designer tried to see through their eyes and to create a collection that would really speak to them, that will make them want to have it in their room. He managed to create a series of furniture that is as playful as the children's minds. The furniture is manufactured in Denmark at a local carpenter's shop and it's part of normann copenhagen's new Danish modern collection. For more information you can visit normann copenhagen's website and also take a look at some other creations. Scandinavian residence in Poland Posted: 06 Oct 2011 07:25 AM PDT In case you were thinking that it wouldn't be possible to recreate your favorite décor in another part of the world, we're here to prove you wrong. There are lots of examples that can show the contrary. Here's just one of them. This beautiful country house is located in Poland. It belongs to a couple that used to live in Warsaw but that finally found their dram home on the countryside. The house needed some reconstruction work but in the end the new owners managed to turn it into the home they've always wanted. As for the interior design, here's when they had to make some changes. Their idea of a perfect living space turned out to be very similar to the Scandinavian style. As you can see, the interior design is mostly composed of black and white elements with some neutral wood tones here and there. Even their cat matches the décor.
The house has a very clean and airy look. The wooden ceiling has been painted white with some parts that have been left natural. Most of the walls are white and so is the floor is almost all the rooms. The furniture has been kept to a minimum and the existing pieces are very simple and usually black or white. Most of the furniture, if not all of it, is made of wood.{found on ikeafamilylive} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Scandinavian residence in Poland |
Fluorescent outdoor floor lamp by Xuclà & Alemany Posted: 06 Oct 2011 06:04 AM PDT It's easy to choose a lamp for your desk or for the living room. All you have to do is like it and see if it matches with the rest of the interior design. However, for the outdoor it's a whole different story. Here the lamp doesn't necessarily have to match anything. What it needs to do is look good in the particular space you want to place it. And, unlike in the case of table lamps for example, there are not as many models to choose from. However, we have one that we think you might enjoy. This simple floor lamp is part of the Break collection and it was designed by Xuclà & Alemany. It's a piece especially designed for outdoor use. It features a very simple and compact design. It's basically made of two blocks that sit one on top of the other and that have a space in between from where the light appears. The idea is ingenious and the result is a chic modern outdoor lamp that can be used just about anywhere. You can place it by the pool, near the deck or the outdoor sitting area or somewhere in the garden.
The lamp is available in a variety of sizes. You can choose the model featuring two square blocks of equal sizes or the taller version. Also, there are many colors available. If you prefer something more natural that would camouflage in your outdoor area you can choose the grey version that resembles stone. However, if you want something more visible and colorful there's the white and blue lamp or the brown one. Contemporary 33rd Street Residence in Manhattan Beach Posted: 06 Oct 2011 05:21 AM PDT This impressive contemporary residence is located in Manhattan Beach, a beachfront city located in southwestern Los Angeles County, California, USA. It's a very striking residence, with a design and architectural elements that really make it stand out in that area. Because of the inclined site where the residence is located, a certain design had to be adopted. In fact, all the houses from that area had to adapt their structure to the environment. The residence was a project developed by Californian studio Rockefeller Partners Architects. It sits on a 4.500 sq ft lot and it's quite an impressive home, with more than enough space for a small or medium family. The construction was completed in 2008 and there haven't been any renovations so the house still features all the original elements.
The 33rd Street Residence is an interesting presence in the area where it's located. Most of the surrounding houses have a traditional look, still beautiful but different from this one. It's actually this particular residence that is different from all the other ones, with its contemporary architecture and stylish simplicity. The floor to ceiling glass walls are a modern characteristic and so is the unusual roof that seems to be made of two different parts that hug each other. The wooden box-like part of the house is just a hint that lets you know how cozy and warm the interior really is.{pics by Eric Staudenmaier} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Contemporary 33rd Street Residence in Manhattan Beach |
Turn your chair into an original work of art Posted: 06 Oct 2011 04:35 AM PDT I'm sure you've been in the situation where you have something that you don't necessarily hate but that doesn't completely make you happy and you wished you could have done something to change that. Let's resume for now at furniture pieces, more exactly chairs. Here's how you can transform a mediocre chair into an attractive and bold piece that you'll love. This chair was originally a knock-off Eames lounger that wasn't really the type of chair its owner would like. It was a little too fancy and it was a knock-off so the owner decided to change that. He also has a matching ottoman that was in the same situation. So in a Saturday he decided to work on that. He decided to skip the piping and focus only on the upholstery.
For that he used the fabric of a hammock he had laying around. He didn't share with us the actual process of transforming the chair but I can fill you up on that. First remove the original fabric, leather or whatever upholstery the chair has. If the chair is made of several parts, take them apart and work with one at the time. Measure each part and then cut a piece of fabric to cover it with. You can sew the new fabric or use a staple gun. If the chair had buttons, just remove them and cover them with the same type of fabric. When you're done put everything back together. If you're not happy with the frame you can also repaint it. You can do this by yourself and it only takes a few hours. At the end you'll have an original chair and you'll be the one to make it.{found on rearrangeddesign} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Turn your chair into an original work of art |
