| Posted: 05 Oct 2011 10:23 AM PDT The modern residence that you see now belongs to Marco Agostini and it's located in Venice. The owner has always liked modern homes but he had a hard time deciding if he should build its own. In 2006 he finally had that opportunity when he got as a gift from his uncle a decaying stone house in the Cannaregio district. Even though old buildings are not his favorite, he saw this as an opportunity to finally have his own house. And since the existing house was mostly ruins, he would basically have to start from scratch.
In 2007 he hired Caprioglio Associati Architects to restore this 1,185-square foot-building. They decided to preserve the gray trachite stone shell of the structure. As for the interior, there wasn't anything that could be saved. The exterior and the foundation were repaired but still, this wasn;t the modern look that the owners wanted. So they've decided to build a glass structure inside the original stone walls. This way Mr. Agostini would get the contemporary look that he wanted and the design wouldn't have to suffer.
The restoration process was completed in 2008 and Mr. Agostini finally moved in his new home in 2009. Now he can enjoy his modern new home. The house is basically a glass box within a stone box and this is not something traditional. It had an ugly floor that ruined the whole décor, even though there were some other beautiful elements in there. But here's how it look after the floor has been painted white. You can really see the difference. The white floor continues the idea of airy and spacious that the white walls tried to impose. Now it's all coming together.
Notice how nice is the contrast between the white floor and walls and the black cabinets. It's a strong impact and this contrastive image is attenuated a little by the colorful decorations, like the painting on the walls or the beautiful bright chandelier. The chandelier is also a very interesting addition. It brigs a traditional touch to the décor but in the same time it's also very elegant and stylish and seems modern and fresh.
The entire kitchen is also definitely more inviting and cozy. It's a warm and pleasant part of the house, a place where you happily go to spend time either alone or with company. So here is how you can change the look of a room just by simply painting the floors another color or adding some inspiring elements like that chandelier for example. The fact that I wash many dishes every day affects the aspect and health of my hands and nails. The skin of my hands is drier and the nails seem to remain short. I am not satisfied with this situation and I must find a solution for this problem.
It seems that the designer Beata Patasiute has created the perfect appliance for my problem, the amazing Waterless Cleaner. As its name says it is an appliance which does not use water.
Waterless Cleaner uses magnetic microwaves to heat dipole molecules of food residue stuck on dishes. As the spinning head and flexible bristles remove the residue only these molecules are heated, so the dish stays cold and can be safely handled while cleaning. It seems a great item as the dishes will remain dry, your hands and nails will not be affected by the use of water and other substances that help you cleaning your numerous dishes. Imagine that cleaning the dishes will become an attractive and pleasant activity and the place where you clean them will look cleaner.

| Contemporary Masterpiece in Mexico Posted: 05 Oct 2011 07:20 AM PDT Located in Jalisco, Mexico this next house is a beautiful contemporary house. Designed by Hernandez Silva Arquitectos, this single family residence is situated in a private neighborhood outside the city.
The Godoy house is made up of two bodies that are floating. One of them is a large box covered in gray stone that levitates over the street, and the other one is transparent and light, larger and higher. The transparent volume expands over the garden and pool, supporting a second floor where the master bedroom lies. Moreover, due to the semi-basement the entrance platform is elevated, generating different uneven levels.
The architects tried to integrate the outdoor inside by opening the house with a long and folding window system in the background. Also, it is the perfect place to entertain family and friends due to the fact that the social spaces are in a fully integrated large terrace with a garden and a swimming pool.
This stunning house has huge floor to ceiling windows that soak the rooms in natural light and offer the residents lovely views. The rooms have a soft, neutral color palette that creates the feeling of an airy space.
The location, the architecture, the outdoor spaces and the modern furnishings make the Godoy House a first class property. This residence is a warm and welcoming place to land and a sanctuary to retreat to. | Colorful modern interior by Mae Brunken Designs Posted: 05 Oct 2011 05:25 AM PDT Today it's time to show you a very inspiring interior design created by the team from Mae Brunken Designs. As always, their design is bold and modern, full of vibrant colors and harmonious combinations of materials. Let's take a look at this lovely apartment for example. The kitchen is very beautifully decorated and it gets out of the standard dull design. The orange dining chairs are really popping out, especially in combination with the blue from the cabinets and the neutral white.
The living room is also attractive, but in a different way.. Here you can't see the same vibrant colors and pop out like in the kitchen. The living room is still colorful and dynamic but it's a little more calm and relaxing. For the furniture brown was the main color and the different tones and textures create a beautiful diversity.
The rug from the living room is also one of the main details that attract attention. It really adds dynamism to the room and it goes well with the rest of the elements. The drapes are the ones that immediately caught my attention. I really like the diversity of colors and the way they blend together and form. Of course, not all the room are as colorful as this one.
