I am a very light sleeper, so when I go to my mother for a visit and sleep over night there’s always a problem with noise: my mother has a clock that ticks really loudly and drives me crazy. So I have to remove it in the middle of the night and try to go back to sleep. Well, apparently some people have already solved all the problems and I was convinced of that when I found this funny Owl Clock. It is shaped like an owl (which is a night bird – I like the parallel) and makes absolutely no noise whatsoever.

The clock is made of bamboo wood which is cut by laser for a more accurate obtaining of the details. After laser cutting, the bamboo wood is further sanded and treated with tung oil. It works with an AA battery and comes in two sizes – big and small. You can order it now for $78.

Happle Lamp

Most kids like fruit very much and apples are among the favourites. So if you want to surprise your child or children and get something special and funny for their room, maybe it would be a good idea to buy something shaped like an apple. People have used wood for buildings and furniture long before they invented the nails. So they used certain innovative and intelligent ways of combining and linking wood so as not to use any nails or screws, but the furniture parts will still be in place. Some of these techniques are still used in China and in other parts of the world and they are illustrated in the design of such furniture items like this Ventana Vista Bookshelf.

The name of the designer is Maria Yee and she succeeded to introduce a huge “V” in the middle of the shelves. It looks great and bold, modern and cool. The material used is solid chestnut and Chinese hardwood. The bookshelf has two rectangular also wooden short legs that allow you to move the shelves from one room to another easily without having to unbolt them from the walls. Dorothy Mug

I bet you all know the story with the Wizard of Oz, with Dorothy and her dog Toto either from the book you read when you were kids or from the nice and funny musical you saw on TV. Either way, Dorothy is a very popular character among kids and I know for sure all the little girls want sparkling red shoes like hers. And I guess we keep that fondness in our hearts long after we stop being children and like her as adults, too. That is why I love this Dorothy Mug. It would be just a coffee or tea mug with nothing particular to draw attention if it weren’t for the picture with Dorothy and Toto.

The picture of Dorothy is in black and white, just like an old movie and it suits the white mug perfectly.
