Posted: 28 Sep 2011 09:57 AM PDT I ran into these Magnetic Hooks by mistake but I was very glad I did because I find them to be really useful in any home, especially in the one with small children. Actually they are useful for any age, but I thought of children because they are smaller and shorter than adults so it’s very hard to find things in their sizes and this size changes very fast any way. For example my kids are still small, but trying to be independent, so they want to take their clothes off by themselves and hang them in their place, but it usually is too high for them. So these hooks can help any parent in my position encourage their kids to get independent and arrange a coat hook for them at their own height.

Posted: 28 Sep 2011 09:23 AM PDT There are lots of things that you make yourself and use to decorate your home for Halloween. Actually, this is probably the best way to go. It's fun for everyone and you don't have to spend time shopping for decorations, spend money and time and get home tired. Here are some things that you can make yourself and that are easy and fun to create. 1. DIY Halloween Mummy Lanterns In order to make these decorations you'll need small balloons, plaster cloth, cooking spray, small LED tealights, a pin and scissors. The process is very simple and it won't take long. Just blow up some balloons, cover them in cooking spray and then lay on the paper mache material. Don't cover the entire balloon. Let them dry and after that pop the balloons inside. Cut an opening so that you'll be able to place them on a flat surface and turn on the tealights.{found on homeseasons}
2. DIY Spooky Halloween Planters This project takes even less time than the previous one and the results can be very surprising. The idea is very simple. If you have some plants in your home, start decorating their pots. All you need are some brushes of different dimensions and some colors. First paint the whole pot in either black, orange or any other color you want to use for the background. Then paint some faces or some spooky images using contrasting colors. If you decide to go with the faces, then the plants can be the hair.{found on arianebernard} 3. DIY Witch-Like Lampshade Since most lamps have that hat-like lampshade, this would be a great opportunity to make some witch lamps. For this project you'll need X-acto kinfe. black foam core, 8″ mixing bowl, black ribbon, scissors, tape, lamp shade, hot glue gun, purple ribbon, buckle and a lamp. If you don't have them all don't worry, just use what you have. This way your lamp will be original. First cut a circle from foam core 6″ wider than the bottom of lamp shade. Use 5'' of black ribbon to ape one end to the inside of the shade and then wrap it around the shade until it's completely covered. Add a line of hot glue where the shade meets the foam core and add some purple ribbon. Reassemble the lamp and you're done. If you feel extra creative you can also decorate the base of the lamp.{found on parents} 4. DIY Halloween Wall Clock If you have an old clock that is still functional but is not one of your favorite decorations, you can use it to create a seasonal design. For this you'll need some webs( if you don't have any you can just draw them), glitter spiders( or simple ones if you don't like glitter), and white spray paint. First paint the clock, let it dry and then apply the spider webs. Now just glue the spiders on the clock and you're done.{found on eighteen25} 5. DIY Halloween Bottles If there's something that anyone has in their home is bottles. If you don't have bottles just laying around you'll probably buy some for Halloween anyway so you can use those. All you have to do is paint the bottles and then print some Halloween pictures onto velum paper. Cut them out and glue them to the bottles and you're done. The content of the bottles won't even be affected.{found on messyroost} 6. DIY Pumpkin And Ghost Bowls Halloween wouldn't be the same without candy. And this means you'll need some bowls to store the candy so a very good idea would be to decorate those with some spooky prints. You can make them from paper bags and tissue paper, plus some white glue. After you make the bowls, cover the base with a plastic grocery bag and then brush them with glue mixture (with water) and laid tissue paper cut into strips. Let them dry and fill them with candy.{found on thelongthread } 7. DIY Jack O' Lantern Pomanders Another cute idea is to use oranges that resemble pumpkins a little, much smaller of course. You can decorate them using whole cloves to create funny faces. Use a toothpick for easy insertion. You could also continue the idea and add some crazy hair.{found on eighteen25} 8. Tin-Can Jack-o’-Lanterns Finally, here's another interesting idea for Halloween. If you want something different you can robots for a change. The idea is very simple. Take some cans and make holes in them. You can create robot faces or basically anything else. In order to make the holes without ruining the can, first fill them with water and let them froze. After that place them on a bag of rice and punch holes with an awl and a hammer. Defrost the cans and paint them. Add some candles inside and you're done. Now you start a new tradition.{found on martha} These are just a few ideas that you can use as inspiration. Thee are plenty of other items you can make for Halloween. You can even invent some yourself. Just use your imagination, creativity and anything else you can find around the house. The Lobby collection from Fratelli boffi Posted: 28 Sep 2011 07:48 AM PDT The Lobby collection is a glamorous mix of fine details and refined designs. It's a collection create exclusively for the living room and it includes a multitude or different pieces and designs to choose from in order to achieve an elegant, unique and sophisticated décor. Kir Royal Sofa and armchair This beautiful couple was designed by Christophe de la Fontaine. It's a combination of classical lines and basic elements gently transformed into modern art pieces. The main structure is hugged by a thin sheet of wood, creating a curved back and an elegant silhouette. The cotton velvet upholstery with a three-dimensional flock texture then adds the final touches.
Kir Royal pouf Sharing the same elegant lines and curved silhouette, the pouf is also made of a wooden heart which is then upholstered. There's an oval simple version and a round version, covered with velvet trimmings. Arpa table Featuring a unique and elaborate look, the table's design was inspired by two different architectural periods. The legs are a reminder of the Queen Anne Style which developed in the early 18th century in England, whereas the central pedestal reflects the Regency style of the 19th century. Apreggio small armchair and chair And since such a beautiful table wouldn't be complete without a couple of chairs, the collection also includes these beautiful chair designs, continuing the table's sinuous design. There's a simple version, with a flat rectangular back, and one with armrests and a curved back. Heap lamp Taking elegance to the next level, the lamp is the perfect detail to complement this sophisticated collection. Featuring a more colorful design, the lamp series was designed by Philippe Bestenheider. The lamp has a ceramic base wrapped with four cylindrical forms, on different levels. The result is a sculptural and eye-catching profile. Heap vase Ingeniously, the vase is actually a re-use of the base from the lamp. Holes were applied at the extremity of the cylindrical forms that make up the structure. This way you fill the vase with flowers that will sit at different heights. Lui6 bookcase And since no living room is complete without a storage unit, here's a stylish design from Philippe Bestenheider. The piece can be used both as a storage unit and a partition wall and it's composed of open and closed spaces. There are several variants of this product, including a square-shaped storage unit with a similar geometric design. Cafe Creme Designed by Marc Krusin, this is a modern wardrobe design made up of four parallelepipeds of various sizes arranged in space vertically and horizontally, intersecting at different heights. It's a dynamic look, suitable for a modern home.{found on 6a3a.} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to The Lobby collection from Fratelli boffi |
Another Modern Residence in Maryland Posted: 28 Sep 2011 07:05 AM PDT This contemporary house is located in Bethesda, Maryland and it was designed by David Jameson Architect. It's called the BlackWhite Residence, a name that expresses the idea of contrast that stands at the base of this concept. The house is not a completely new construction. It was created suing the masonry shell of an already existing house. This way the ruins were used for something productive and the new house emerged from the remains of an old one. In order to obtain a modern design, the main level had to be renovated while a second level was also added. The two levels are obviously not similar and the second one has significantly smaller footprint. The first level resembles a simple white box. It has small windows and a very compact look. The second level, on the other hand, is a series of four glass temples that emerge from the white base.
The four glass structures are independent from each other and they are separate volumes. They are linked together by a circulation core sheathed in black that extends to cradle each space. These glass temples gather natural light during the day and they glow into the darkness during the night. Even though I really like the design and the contemporary approach, I'm still having a hard time understanding the functionality of those four glass structures. They don't seem to be used by anyone and it seems like a waste of resources to create them just for the design.{found on contemporist} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Another Modern Residence in Maryland |
Decorate your home for Halloween using pumpkins Posted: 28 Sep 2011 06:13 AM PDT Halloween is almost here and like any other year it's time for you to start searching for ideas. Of course, the star will be the pumpkin that you usually carve yourself or in family as a fun project. If you have kids, then it's one more reason to try to make something special. Pumpkins are a very fun to carve and they are probably the most popular decoration during Halloween. Let's see if we can find some creative and fun ideas that might inspire you. Usually, since the pumpkin resembles a head and also because of the legend of the headless horseman, people usually carve a face. This is the most common choice. However, if you want to be original, you can do something a little more elaborate like adding some detailing to the eyes, eyebrows and teeth. You can even make a dragon head if you have the time and patience. If you don't want something scary you can always go the other way and create something funny like a crazy pumpkin and, one of my favorites, a barfing pumpkin where you can also use the inside of the pumpkin.
For those who want to create something nice for the kids, there are also some cute ideas. Carve some kitty silhouettes, a happy face or, if you feel really talented, try recreating one their heroes from the cartoons. For example spider man's head would be easy and fun to make. You don't have to be a kid to enjoy carving pumpkins. This is an easy and fun decorating art that anyone can make and enjoy.{pic 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Decorate your home for Halloween using pumpkins |
Posted: 28 Sep 2011 05:29 AM PDT I've always been a fan of unusual and creative items. So when I first laid eyes on this clock I immediately liked it. Clocks are one of the few items that are both useful and decorative. That's why people always try to incorporate them in all sorts of decorative projects. This particular clock is called the Melting Clock and it has a very suggestive name. Its design was inspired by the famous Dali painting "The Persistence of Memory", a naturalist painting where there's a melting pocket watch that resembles this one. Someone had the great idea to use that concept and to make it reality. The Melting Clock is fully functional and its mechanism works perfectly.
The clock was designed to be used on a shelf, on the desk or basically on any surface with an edge. It appears to be melting and falling off, like a piece of chocolate. Even though it's uncommon and a little awkward, it's a very creative design and it would make a very fun gift. It might be a little difficult to read the time at first but you'll quickly get used to it and the effort is well worthed. This is probably one my favorite wacky decoration and definitely the best clock design I've seen so far. You can find the clock on the online shop amazon for $10,67. House in the south of Jakarta by TWS & Partners Posted: 28 Sep 2011 05:06 AM PDT This unusual residence is located in Jakarta, Indonesia and it was designed and built by TWS & Partners with principal in charge Tonny W Suriadjaja and structural engineers Purwa. The house was completed in 2010. It sits on a 300 sqm area. The concept behind this construction was to try something different from the usual lines, to try to create a different perception. As a result, the Distort House was born. Situated in an area where tropical village forest is still a big part of the surroundings and where a public park is located in the front of the site itself, the house benefits from beautiful views and plenty of natural surroundings. The green area in the front of the house is a transitional space between the park and the house itself.
The private areas of the house are located n the upper level. This way there's plenty of fresh air and expansive views over the trees. On the ground floor are located the public and semi-public spaces. There's a huge living room that has no walls and not even glass, being a completely open space. There's also a smaller living area that acts as a welcoming area and is connected to the upper level. The interior décor features exposed beams and white walls. The rest is rather simple.{pics by Fernando Gomulya and found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to House in the south of Jakarta by TWS & Partners |
Classic wood bed system for large bedrooms Posted: 28 Sep 2011 04:41 AM PDT Most of the bedrooms usually need more than just a bed and a nightstand. Some storage space is also needed so additional furniture pieces have to be included. This means that the remaining space gets smaller and smaller with each occasion. But what if all those furniture pieces could be incorporated into one big structure? Then you could save a lot of space and you would only need a wall. This classic bed system is exactly that. It's a combination of a bed, towers, shelves and a desk. The structure is crafted with a kiln-dried wood frame and the bed sits in the middle. It's surrounded by storage units or cubbies that you can use to store books, storage bins, speakers or other decorative objects.
Beneath the bed you can also add some storage bins that are sold separately. The structure is finished by hand with rich wood stains or classic White paint. You can choose between two different combinations: the Classic Bed & Tower Set that includes one platform bed (pillows sold separately), two towers, and two suspensions shelves, available for the price of 1946.64 euros and the Classic Bed System featuring one platform bed (pillows sold separately), two towers, two suspension shelves, and one desk, that you can buy for 1478.51 euros. It features modern architecture and it occupies and entire floor. The building has an elevator. A second floor is currently in progress and will be finished towards the end of 2012. The building where this penthouse is situated also features French balconies that act as an extension to the social areas. This particular penthouse offers 5 bedrooms, a beautiful walk-in closet, three bathrooms, a gym and a library. The interior décor is warm and inviting, especially since there's a fireplace in one of the rooms. And since the second floor is not yet finished, the possible new owners could also have a say in the design it's going to have.
