Hopside Down – Glass and Bottle Posted: 17 Sep 2011 08:54 AM PDT Every time I go to the restaurant or bar with my husband we have beer and the funny thing is he drinks it directly from the bottle while I pour it into a glass. I think it is more healthy this way as the glass is certainly clean, but I am not so sure about the bottle neck. Well, as far as I noticed, a lot of men seem to prefer to drink directly from the bottle, so I guess one smart guy with a sense of humour called Dima Komissarov, had the idea of making something for both parties, so he designed the glass with a bottle inside. It is the Hopside Down glass. This unique and unusual glass is a normal glass on the inside, but it has a double interior shaped like a bottle neck. It is hand blown and precisely crafted, being the perfect gift for party boys and girls. It is made of tempered glass, so it is safe to clean in the dishwasher. It is available for $14.95. Impressive Melfi Headquarters by Medir Architetti Posted: 17 Sep 2011 08:39 AM PDT This impressive structure is located in Pettoranello di Molise, Italy. It was a project developed by Medir Architetti in collaboration with Roberto Ianigro, Valentina Ricciuti, Roberto Ianigro, Valentina Ricciuti and Leo D'Antona. The team was asked to design a headquarter for Melfi Srl. The project was not easy but in 2006 it was done and ready to be used. The location created some problems and, in order to make the new structure naturally integrate into the landscape, the team decided to create a more open design. The structure is composed of a square shed and the office building. The client had some specific requests for the office building. E wanted it to be designed with a central double-height void with skylights from where distribution galleries spread in different directions, allowing access to the other rooms.
The area is surrounded by mountains so the views and very beautiful and don’t need further introduction. Moreover, the open structure of the office building makes the transition between interior and exterior spaces smooth and less striking. The building is an eye-catching appearance in the area, where most of the surrounding structures have a more quiet and traditional design. Nevertheless, the team of architects working at the project tried to integrate the new structure as naturally as possible and not to make it stand out too much, so it wouldn’t create a big contrast.{found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Impressive Melfi Headquarters by Medir Architetti |
Colossal single-family home in Cape Cod Posted: 17 Sep 2011 06:45 AM PDT A small family with no kids usually doesn't dream at huge houses with lots of bedrooms and lots of other additional spaces. But not this family! They wanted an impressive residence and they got it with the help of architect Doreve Nicholaeff. The house is located in Cape Cod and it's useless to say that the landscape and the views are incredibly beautiful. The design of this house was inspired by the sea and the shape of the bay beyond. This impressively large residence features 14 rooms, 5 bedrooms, 8 full baths, a half bath along with many other additional spaces. Among the interior features we could mention the 5 Fireplaces, Fitness Room, Granite/Stone Countertops, Hardwood Flooring, Home Theatre, Security System, Spa / Hot Tub, Steam Room, Guest Suite, Sun Room. It's an impressive list. There are also the exterior features, like the Boat Dock, Deck / Patio, Gardens, Inground Pool, Balcony and the garage.
The house was built in a contemporary style, with simple lines and a well-defined structure. The location is absolutely great and the landscape and ocean view are breathtaking. We could get used with such a place, even though it wasn't the initial dream house we wanted. So if want to live in Osterville, MA, United States and be able to enjoy this impressive residence, be ready to pay $14,300,000. Double Overhead Unusual Coffee Shop by SARUP Posted: 17 Sep 2011 05:18 AM PDT This unusual coffee shop that you see in the pictures was designed and built in 2010. It was a project developed by a design studio at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning (SARUP) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The studio is led by Professor Kyle Talbott and it's a way of cultivating the student's creativity and challenging them to explore the qualities of ordinary building materials at full scale. The team had to collaborate with structural consultant Marco Lo Ricco (SARUP Faculty) and fabrication consultant Frankie Flood, Matt Maybee (UWM PECK SCHOOL Faculty). Together they managed to create this impressive coffee shop for Roast Coffee Co.
The new creation is called Double Overhead and it's a term commonly used in the surfer's lexicon of maritime terminology. It's used to describe a wave that is two times the size of the surfer's body. This is just a metaphor for the challenging project and all the difficulties that the team encountered. This intimate coffee shop is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. Its interior design is a combination of eclectic 1950s modern features with home-brewed touches. The skeleton structure of the shop is made from salvaged tube steel. It supports a cladding made of reclaimed wood. This includes oak from a 150-year-old church and pine from a 100 year old barn. So it's not just a challenge in terms of design, but also in terms of materials and new ways of protecting the environment.{found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Double Overhead Unusual Coffee Shop by SARUP |
Posted: 17 Sep 2011 01:19 AM PDT People use vases for placing fresh flowers in them and this way bring a bit of their beautiful looks and smell inside their homes, too. Vases are filled with water and this way the flowers will not wither soon. But this is only for normal vases. This particular Curvy Chrysanthemum Vase does not need flowers to look great, as it has its own flower on: a great looking crimson chrysanthemum. The chrysanthemum is made of porcelain just like the vase and it is very well stuck to it, so it won’t get off by mistake. The colour of the flower attached to the vase shows amazingly well against the white and you won’t even need natural flowers to place inside the vase, as the wanted visual effect is already granted by the lovely and delicate chrysanthemum on the vase. It is recommended for you to wash it by hand and not in the dishwasher because of the flower petals that can be damaged there. The dimensions of the vase are : 23cm cm H, 15cm diameter. You can buy it now from Antropologie for €28.00. Posted: 17 Sep 2011 12:12 AM PDT When I was in high school I saw a very interesting picture in a science magazine: it looked like a crown, but it was white. And the little round drops on top of each ray in the crown looked so perfect and glued there by a master hand. To my surprise I read that this “crown” was actually the enhanced photo of a drop of milk falling into a big bowl full of milk. The photographer used a very powerful camera and succeeded to catch the exact moment of the splash. This photo is the source of inspiration for Masashi Hanayama, the designer of Milk Crown Jewelry Tray. It is a jewelry tray that has the exact same design as the photo I told you about. The “crown” shape is very useful because all the spikes in the crown can be used as support for your rings and bracelets and for the other pieces of jewelry. The tray is made of porcelain and it is available in four colours: white, black, silver and gold. Purchase it now for $39.99. Kettal Bitta outdoor furniture collection Posted: 16 Sep 2011 11:16 PM PDT Kettal Bitta is a collection of outdoor furniture that includes dining armchairs, stools, 2 and 3 seat sofas, corner and central modules, daybeds and swings. It's a modular collection and because it includes so many pieces, they can be combined in any way you want in order to obtain the perfect décor for your personal outdoor space. The costumer has the freedom to choose any combination of products he wants and to match them in order to obtain the optimal décor for the space available. All the pieces from this collection are made from aluminum frames, polyester seats and bedsides and teak and stone table tops. Moreover, the materials used are waterproof. The chairs, stools, sofas and beds also have extremely comfortable cushions.
As for the design, it's dense braiding that looks compact but still lets the air through. This type of design is similar to the braiding of the ropes used to moor boats, hence the name (Bitta means mooring in Italian). The pieces come in natural colors, being easy to integrate in just about any décor. Because the materials used for this collection are waterproof, the pieces are perfect for outdoor use. However, the cushions should be protected because they can get easily deteriorated. Take a look at the whole collection and choose the pieces you like or that best fit your outdoor space. Posted: 16 Sep 2011 10:35 PM PDT I am sure you like the delicious potato salad your mother or wife or even you cook every now and then. But there is a problem when you want to peel the potatoes you have just taken out of the hot water. They are too hot and burn your hands when you want to hold them. But if you wait until they are totally cold, it won’t be so easy to peel them and they won’t be so tasty either. So maybe you need this very useful and innovative Rosle Potato Fork. This kitchen utensil is small but really useful and you can use it to gently hold the hot potatoes when peeling them. However, I don’t like purchasing items I only use very seldom, so I wanted to see if I could use this fork for some other things, too. So I use it now for checking if the steak is done and for taking the meat slices out of the frying pan and for many other similar actions. This is possible thanks to the three very thin prongs that are attached to a very shiny but firm metal handle. You can buy it for $22.95.
