Modern country house in Morocco Posted: 13 Sep 2011 10:50 AM PDT When you think of Morocco you immediately picture the ruins, the sandy beach, the camels and the traditional houses. It's true that this is how most of that area looks like, but there are modern adaptations too. Take for example this spacious house. It's located close to Sidi Kaouk’s long sandy beach and the surrounding landscape is full of history. This is a large house with plenty of space for a large family. The exterior design is rather simple and compact. The house has a geometrical shape with clear and clean lines and small windows. Because of the location and the changing and harsh weather, the house needed to avoid the heat of the sun and to try to insulate the interior as much as possible.
The exterior of the house was painted white. The interior continues the same look, with white walls and simple furniture. The ceiling is made of wood with exposed beams which allows us to take a peak at the country side of this structure. The furniture is rather traditional but with a modern twist and most of the decorations are a picture of the local beauty. The surrounding landscape is impressive but mostly ruins.
Nevertheless, this only makes the house stand out more. Considering the conditions, having a garden is not a viable plan. Maybe adding a pool would be a good idea.{found on jjlocations} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Modern country house in Morocco |

Abstract Redesigned 1960′s Hillside Home Posted: 13 Sep 2011 04:39 AM PDT This modern abstract house is located in Los Angeles, California, USA, just below the Hollywood sign. It was built in 2011, so it's a fresh home. It was a project developed by XTEN Architecture, in collaboration with Axial Engineering Group and CY Geotech. The project area occupies 2700 sq ft and it was designed as a series of interconnected indoor-outdoor spaces. The residence has an abstract design but contrary to your belief, it wasn't a completely new project but a renovation and redesigning of a 1960's house. The exterior of the house was kept approximately the same, with some changes. The interior of the house, on the other side, suffered a complete renovation and reconfiguration.
The exterior was opened up to the hillside views and several terraces were added. There's a large terrace that links the kitchen and dining area with the living room and that has a steel staircase that leads to a rooftop sundeck. Several other terraces were added to the bedroom wing and the upper master bedroom suite. The house benefits from beautiful views of the Beechwood Canyon and the Griffith Park Observatory. The floor-to-ceiling glass sliding panels also contribute to this. The exterior of the house in painted in black and white, creating a very elegant and abstract design. The interior is mostly white and it's decorated with minimalist pieces of furniture and details.{found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Abstract Redesigned 1960′s Hillside Home |

Boutique Hotel Château Eza on the French Riviera Posted: 13 Sep 2011 03:04 AM PDT This exclusive luxurious hotel is none other than Château Eza. It’s located in the medieval village of Eze, more than 400 metres above the Mediterranean Sea, on the French Riviera. It’s one of the most beautiful locations on the Côte d'Azur. The hotels offers incredible views, together with luxurious rooms. Château Eza had ben closed for five month, a period during which it suffered a complete refurbishment. The only elements that remained untouched were the 400 years old walls. The hotel was once the home of Prince William of Sweden, so the renovation had to preserve the authenticity of the structure. The architects working at this project were Alain Bennati and Alain Cecchetti of Cabinet Art-Tec and they used only the most exceptional European materials, like warm terracotta, Italian Emperado, Travertine and Carrera together with the finest Egyptian cotton linens for the bedding and Golden Fleur-de-Lis adorns.
Six out of the 11 rooms that the hotel has to offer also have working chimneys, a very beautiful and sophisticated detail. Even though most of the elements are authentic and vintage, there is also LED lighting, in-floor heating, geothermal windows and LED flat screen TVs. These elements, in contrast with the exposed ancient wood beams and rare parquet hardwood flooring create a unique décor. The hotel also offers large private outdoor terraces with Jacuzzis. Minimalistic Step House by 05 AM Arquitectura Posted: 12 Sep 2011 11:40 PM PDT Just because the traditional house design is on clearly defined floors or levels, this doesn't mean this structure can't be changed. The Step House is the perfect example for that. With a terraced design for both the exterior and the interior, this particular house has a contemporary and minimalist design that makes it stand out even when it's empty. The house was designed by 05 AM Arquitectura and it's located in a small Spanish village in Girona. It's a split-level modern home, with ground level and a main level and with an intermediate one in between. The transition from one level to the other is very smooth and natural. The house was designed to align with the north and south elements. This means that the north of the houses faces the old village while the south is facing the pool, garden and natural landscape.
There are two entries to the house, a ground entrance on the first floor and a lower one from the garden. The stepped floors add some dynamism to the design and they also have a practical functional, dividing the spaces in the house. The garage is a sort of transitional space from the outdoor to the indoor areas. The intermediate level houses the leisure and study areas, while the main level includes the kitchen, living room and the terrace.
