405PF and 406PF chairs by Stefan Diez Posted: 08 Sep 2011 11:36 AM PDT Stefan Diez is a German designer that created the 404 chair series. This was a project developed for furniture manufacturer thonet. He first started to work at this collection in 2008 and it was intended to be used as furniture for the fireplace areas in Munich's English garden. The designer decided to add to the collection two new chair designs, the ’405 PF’ and ’406 PF’ padded armchairs. They were similar with the other creations that he already designed. Actually, the 406 PF is another version of the original 404 F armchair. The designer only made some changes to this particular model. He shortened the legs of the original design and turned it into a comfortable lounge seat. Here's how a small change can trigger the creation of a whole new design. The new piece of furniture that resulted from the changes made to the original design features very soft and comfy seat and backrests made from molded plywood. The legs and rear cantilevers are made from laminated wood. This, in combination with the leather or fabric cover creates a very simple and elegant design. The chair is available in beech, either natural or stained, painted white or finished with a textured lacquer in various colors. This particular armchair design is very versatile and it can be used in the dining room, on the terrace or deck or in public areas like a café or a bar.{found on designboom} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to 405PF and 406PF chairs by Stefan Diez |
Luxurious refurbished house in London Posted: 08 Sep 2011 09:30 AM PDT This elegant and luxurious place is located in London and has a specific traditional design. It's a refurbished Grade II listed house located on the south side of a very beautiful Georgian terrace. As you can imagine, this place is not a new addition. The house was originally built in the 19th century and this is visible both in the architecture and the interior design. The house features a very large and elegant reception space. Even though it was a complex building, the house has been enhanced with the addition of a lower ground floor extension. This added some new and very practical space where new rooms have been designed. The new addition includes a media rooms and a steam room.
Moreover, several other changes have been made to the house. None of them consists in significant architectural or structure changes. They were just some new additions that have been made to further enhance the sustainability of this place. Among the additions we can mention a lift and an integrated media system with Cat5 cabling as well as a computerized lighting system. So, even though this house dated back to the early 19th century, it has been brought to date with the new technological improvements. The house already had a sophisticated design and now it's even more chic and stylish.Listed for 6,5 mil GBP. Posted: 08 Sep 2011 07:57 AM PDT Velvet is a very comfy fabric. It used to be a very popular choice a while ago. However, it almost disappeared in the last few years. It began to be perceived as old and out of fashion. Nevertheless, it recently reappeared on the market and started to be appreciated again. The truth is that everything can look good if it's part of a more complex design where its properties are exploited to a maximum level. One such example is Zarina, a very beautiful and elegant armchair. It was designed by Cesare Cassina. The chair features a wooden frame and polyurethane stuffing. Also, for even more comfort, it has a goose-feather cushion that will make you wish you could spend the whole in the chair. A very distinguishable detail about Zarina is the fact that it's covered in velvet.
In this case, this particular fabric is the perfect choice. It goes really well with the design, especially considering the curved back and soft edges. The armchair is available is grey, purple, orange, green, turquoise, pink and yellow, colors that are combined in a multitude of different ways resulting all sorts of creative models. Moreover, because of the large range of colors available, you can choose exactly the tones that you like or ask for them to be combined if there's not already an existing model featuring the same colors. Amazing Stables Conversion in Sydney Posted: 08 Sep 2011 06:43 AM PDT What was once a stable is now a gorgeous home in Sydney. This 120 year old building is now an enchanting, unique and private home. According to the real estate website it is “situated only moments from Hawksburn Village and formerly the stables of a Wheel-Wright”. This lovely house hosts two bedrooms, one bathroom, an open floor living and dining area with kitchen, a study, dressing room, cellar and secluded walled garden. It has great features, such as an open fireplace, an elevated spa and a chef’s kitchen fully equipped with stainless steel appliances and a massive 13 foot long American cherry wood bench.
Furthermore it has a clean, simple design and a soft, neutral color palette that creates the feeling of a bright space. Another important aspect is the eclectic flair of the place due to the combination of modern and traditional elements. Moreover it has huge windows that flood the house with natural light. The designers kept the wooden beams which give it a rustic feel. But wait, that’s not all, this amazing residence also has enough space for parking two cars, and wonderful, lush vegetation that will make you feel as if you were in the middle of nature. The Wrights Terrace Residence is a soothing place, perfect for entertaining family and friends and, more important, a warm and welcoming place to land. Two-Story Villa P by Love Home Architecture Posted: 08 Sep 2011 05:49 AM PDT This strange-looking house was designed and built by Austrian studio Love Architecture and it has recently been completed. The house is located in Austria and it sits on a 2.153 sq feet lot. Villa P, as it is called, was a challenging project mostly because of the client's desire to create a contemporary and playful design. As you can see, the whole place plays with lines and dimensions and the overall image is intriguing and disorienting. Even though the house sits on a relatively plane and clean lot, the house has an irregular shape that makes you stop for a moment and think whether it's the house that has a strange design or is it you that are having trouble with equilibrium. The overall look is a little dramatic, but mostly playful and fun.
This two-storey residence also benefits from very beautiful views over Graz, the second largest city in Austria. The upper level of the house includes all the living spaces, meaning three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The lower level features an office and a storage room that is accessible through a separate entrance. There's also a wide staircase that links the upper floor to the garden. This way you can go straight from you bedroom outside and then into the swimming pool, without disturbing anyone. It's a very practical idea that seems to be more and more popular. Elegant and versatile leather Nizza chair Posted: 08 Sep 2011 04:57 AM PDT Nizza is one of the few chair designs that is suited for both private and public spaces. Usually the chairs are designed for a specific type of décor and even though they can be used in other spaces al well, they end to look unnatural. But the designers of this chair had the clever idea to create a universal piece that could be used in a variety of different spaces and decors. As you can see, the actual design of the chair is rather simple. The piece is made from a chromed metal frame padded with polyurethane foam. In order to give it a more distinguished and elegant look, the chair has been upholstered in leather. Not only that it's more elegant but it's also more practical because it's easier to keep clean.
There are two types of leather available for this particular type of chair. There's the corrected grain leather, very high quality, or the magnificent full-grain aniline leather. The seat of chair is covered a smoother type of leather, for more comfort. Moreover, there are several different colors available. You can opt for a nutral tone, like white for exmple, if you prefer a morestandard look, or you can choose a more colorful tone for a nice contrast. The overall design is simple, with no details except for the stitching and buttons from the back that create a stylish quilted effect.Available for 995 e. Oldest homesteads turned into a contemporary house by Nacházel Architekti Posted: 08 Sep 2011 04:20 AM PDT Designed and created by Nacházel Architekti, this beautiful orchard house can be found in Milevsko, Czech Republic. Not surprisingly, it's located in the middle of a fruit orchard. The house was built in 2011 so it's a fresh structure, with a minimalist and architectural design,perfect for spnding quality time with the family. This place was originally one of the oldest homesteads,a compact and solid construction with a traditional look. The owners, a married couple with two children, saw the potential that this place had and decided to turn it into a contemporary holiday home. In the renovation process a lot of things had to be changed. However, the owners decided to preserve some of the original elements, like the solid stone walls and the traditional design with only one storey.
Inside the house, there's along corridor that links all the rooms. The areas are divided by walls or sliding doors that can be easily opened to create a more vast area. There's also a porch, perfect for some outdoor time in the sunny days. And because it's a holiday house, meaning that it's only being used for a short period of time during the year, it can be easily secured with shutters from inside of the house. This can also be done at night, just to be sure.{found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Oldest homesteads turned into a contemporary house by Nacházel Architekti |

7 Creative ways of turning wood logs and tree stumps into unique accessories Posted: 08 Sep 2011 12:55 AM PDT Wood logs are everywhere. Of course, this doesn't mean you have to start destroying trees just to be able to use the logs. However, if you do stumble upon this type of things, you might consider bringing them home. They might seem useless but there are lots of fun projects they can be sued for. Here are some examples of how you can turn wood logs into creative art piece for your home. This particular creation was made out of the birch logs that a couple had used for their wedding as the table number holders. They were then useful and quite unique and usually people would just throw them away after they've finished using them. However, there's another option and this one includes 2.5-4 inch thick branch(es), adhesive picture hanging strips, a saw and sand paper. The result is this beautiful art piece.{found on curbly}
Here's another example of how you can use wood logs and this time we're talking about larger pieces. This improvised table is now used as a mini-garden and the materials used to make it are perfect for this purpose. All you need is a wooden plaque and a dry fallen branch or a lumber log for the base and voila, you have a unique piece of furniture for your home. Now it's time for a more complex project. These wood slice garden paths are definitely something unique and worth to create. You might think it's difficult to create such a project but it's easier that it seems. All you need is some logs that you need to slice into pieces 2 inches thick and then press them on the ground.{found on domesticatednomad} Another simple project would be lamp. In this case you're free to choose the size of the tree stump you're going to use as a base. Then you need to add a matching lampshade. Of course, you'll also need to take case of the wiring. Just dig a whole into it and add the light fixture and you're done.{found on ikeahackers} A similar project would be creating a flower vase. Again, you can choose the size and shape of the future vase. You'll then need to dig a whole inside, so that the flowers have a place to stay. If you want you can also add a lacquered finish for a more glossy look.{found on thecsiproject} If you like rustic pieces, you can also consider a wood log to create some practical storage shelves. In this case you'll have to slice it into 1-2 inches thick slabs, slice the part that will become the back of the shelf, screw brackets to the wall and to the bottom of the shelf and you have a perfectly functional storage shelf.{found on ds} Another very creative idea and so far my personal favorite is a wooden clock. Again, you can personally choose the dimensions. All you need to do is slice a log horizontally in order to get a "slice" of wood. Then drill a hole in the center and insert the clock mechanism. You can use one from an old clock that you're not using anymore. You can also paint numbers on the surface of the clock, dots, or anything else. You can also leave it plain in case you're aiming for an artistic look.{found on curbly} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to 7 Creative ways of turning wood logs and tree stumps into unique accessories |
The freshly renovated Nistler House Posted: 08 Sep 2011 12:10 AM PDT This beautiful house is located in Harvey Park. Like all the other structures in that area, it was originally designed and built in the 1950′s by Iconic Cliff May, the Architect of the California Ranch Style Home. Now, more than half a century later, this architectural beauty has just been renovated and turned into a more modern home, but still preserving some of the original elements. Among the changes that had to be made, some of the major changes were the addition of new walls and windows that helped opening up the whole place. The whole house is not filled with natural sunlight. The kitchen has also been opened up. Moreover, probably the most dramatic make-over can be seen in what once was the garage. Now that area has been turned into a very stylish bonus room.
The house also features four patios, one of which is linked directly to the master bedroom. The whole house has hardwood flooring and floor-to-ceiling glass walls and windows. In addition to all that, there's also a separate 150 Square Foot Studio/Theater Room/Office/Lounge that's part of the structure. Overall, this is an elegant and stylish house and would make a very cozy and inviting home, especially considering the fireplace included into the interior décor. So if you like this place and think it might make a good home for you and your family, feel free to take a look at it. Be prepared to have $215,000.
