Minimalist House On The Rocks by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos

Posted: 04 Sep 2011 08:35 AM PDT

House on the Rocks or “House on the Slope of a Castle” as it was called is a modern, minimalist home located in Ayora near Valencia. This single family residence was designed to “integrate into the environment” and the designers were Fran Silvestre Arquitectos.

This house is located in an unique landscape, the result of a natural growth, against the stunning natural backdrop. It is linear, geometric and white, an aspect that creates a clean design. Being set in a rocky mountainside plot the architects had a great challenge in front of them, they had to integrate it in its environment. The house is conceived as a volume which uses white lime and a sense of constructive continuity.

The architects had three demands from the owners and these were to stick to the available budget, to give them privacy and sun washed interiors. This three-storey home was designed with a void that acted as a divider and that is adjacent to the skylight, having a lot of natural light come in.

This unique house hosts a cellar on the ground floor, children’s bedroom and bathroom on the first floor and the master bedroom on the upper level, which has gorgeous views of the Valley of Ayora. Furthermore on the last floor you can also find an open floor kitchen with a living and dining area and a study.

The House on the Rocks is a superb residence that makes a statement. It is modern, minimalist and, of course, unique.

Contrasting flat in Manhattan

Posted: 03 Sep 2011 11:59 AM PDT

New York is a big and contrasting city. It’s a representative part of the country and of the whole world. However, not a lot of people seem to like living in there. The city is crowded, busy and full of surprises and for those who like a quiet and simple life, this is not the best place to live in. However, there are plenty of people who love living in New York, like the owners of this place for example.

This artistic loft is located in Chelsea, in lower Manhattan. You might be surprises to find out that this wasn’t always a home. In fact, this place dates back to the last century and it used to be a factory where they mad chains. Then nobody would have imagined that someone this place could become a lovely home. However, the new owners saw the potential and decided to pursue their dream.

They contacted Martin Raffone and asked him for help with the interior design. The designer realized that this is no ordinary home and decided to create something very special. Instead of choosing only one predominant style throughout the whole house, he chose to use a mix of several different styles.

He mixed the warm modernist American style with a series of several other styles like the German, French and Italian classics, and sometimes Danish. Mixing styles is not advisable unless you know exactly what you’re doing. In this case the result was a very welcoming and unique home.{found on vartnyahem}
