Posted: 02 Sep 2011 08:50 AM PDT If you’re looking for a modern and minimalist piece of furniture for your home, Burger is the perfect choice. This piece of furniture is a sort of sofa of small dimensions that can also be used as an armchair or simply as an extra seating space. It has a very simple design, with no details or decorations besides those that are really necessary to make the piece stable. This minimalist beauty is definitely an unusual choice but it would make a great addition to any modern or contemporary home. It could be used in the living room, as an additional seating space besides the regular sofa or it can be used in the bedroom and even in open spaces like the deck, terrace or balcony. Burger is a very light piece of furniture so you won;t be having trouble moving it around.
Burger is made from a wooden frame upholstered with fabric. The result is a very soft and comfortable piece of furniture. The piece also comes in a variety of colors, like yellow, green, white, black or brown. So you have several options. All you need to do is decide if you want something bold and that stands out or if you prefer something more neutral and elegant. Burger also has a comfy backrest that is attached to the base with a thin steel stand. It leans slightly to support the weight of the body.Available on rs-barcelona. Modern residence Located Salt Lake City, Utah Posted: 02 Sep 2011 07:39 AM PDT Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, this modern residence was built in 2009 and it was a project developed by Axis Architects. The house sits on a 4,100SqFt lot and it provides beautiful views over the sea. It sits on Salt Lake City's East Bench on Devonshire, a relaxing and private area, perfect for a calm retreat. The owners required that the house would have a very specific structure, with the public areas and the private areas strictly and physically separated from each other. This ensures privacy for all the users of the house. Each level of the house has a very specific function.
For example, the lower lever contains the garage, the storage area and an entrance foyer. The main level of the house includes all public areas, like the living, dining areas and the kitchen. The clients also requested for a master bedroom to be included on this level but that needed to be clearly separated from the public areas. On this level there's also a large exterior balcony. The upper level of the house contains the private areas, including a study and two bedrooms. The clients were also very specific when it came to choosing the materials. They wanted them to require a minimum maintenance. So the architects chose to use architectural concrete, and corten steel cladding.{found on archdaily and pics by Paul Richer, Richer Images } Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Modern residence Located Salt Lake City, Utah |
The Martinek Residence With Swimming Pool and Private Courtyard Posted: 02 Sep 2011 06:32 AM PDT After living in Tempe, Arizona for more than 15 years, the Martinek family felt they needed a change. However, they didn't want to leave that area that they loved so much so instead they've decided to re-build on the same lot .This happened in 2010. Originally they had a 1,500 sf livable area and they later decided they wanted to increase that area to 3,200 sf. They wanted to make several changes, both to the house and the surrounding area. They went to 180 Degrees Design + Build for help and together they've managed to create a new and improved home that the Martineks will be able to enjoy for many years to come. Among the major changes that have been made we can mention the addition of a swimming pool, a private courtyard and a covered parking area.
The house looks simple but it's warm and cozy, the perfect home. There's plenty or livable area now, the rooms are bigger and more welcoming and the additional structures are always a plus. Also, the surrounding area is actually a large courtyard, a huge garden where the owners can enjoy the nature. Among the materials used in the construction we can mention the maple cabinetry, plate steel walls, exposed integral color concrete floors and Arcadia storefront aluminum and glass doors and windows.{found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to The Martinek Residence With Swimming Pool and Private Courtyard |

Glamorous two-tier Crystal Crown Ceiling Light Posted: 02 Sep 2011 03:14 AM PDT When it comes to lighting fixtures, each person has its own preferences. Some of us like to keep it simple by choosing minimalist pieces, others prefer a more romantic look, other choose a more colorful piece, other something more elegant and sophisticated while other like to be creative and make their own pieces. Here's a lighting fixture that can't go unnoticed, no matter what style you prefer. It's a chandelier-like structure, even though it doesn't share the same structure and design. However, it's a great replacement for those who have low ceilings and can't have a proper chandelier in their homes. This is a two-tier ceiling light, with a traditional look and a subtle vintage touch. At a first glimpse it might seem a little busy and overdecorated, but in fact it's simpler than it seems. It has a pierced metal frame decorated with crystal-like details. The metal a vintage look, with an old finish that looks very good in combination with the semi-transparent additions. The dimensions of this chandelier-like structure are 10″Hx12″W. The piece can be yours for $349.00. It would make a very interesting addition in a traditional home, maybe in the living room. However, you'll need to be careful not to exaggerate with the decorations because having a piece like this in the middle of the room is usually enough. Intriguing beach house in Point Lonsdale, Australia Posted: 02 Sep 2011 12:09 AM PDT Designed by Baenziger Coles Architects, this particular beach house had a very specific purpose: to express the owner's passions that are surfing, fishing, and surf life saving. The designers had to keep those things in mind while building the house and they also needed to face another important challenge: to built a two storey house in an area dominated by single storey houses without making it stick out. It was definitely a challenge and it wasn't easy but, as you can see, the result is pleasing. The house has a contemporary design that manages to combine beauty with functionality in a specific way. The structure of the house is composed of three different areas: the first floor "container", the ground floor area that contains the internal spatial arrangements and the lounge area. It's a very functional and practical structure. Even more practical is the fact that these areas can be easily closed off or zoned for privacy and when a range of activities and events are occurring.
In terms of interior design we can't help to notice that there's an obvious contrast between the contemporary design of the house and the numerous handcrafted items plus the totem pole that is visible at the entrance. All these items might not have a lot in common but they manage to blend in naturally which is not easy to achieve. As for the materials and systems used to built this beach house, these are several passive and active energy saving features like for example the rain water harvesting system, the recycled building materials used, the solar panels that are well hidden on the roof, the insulation and the great use of natural light.{found on contemporist} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Intriguing beach house in Point Lonsdale, Australia |

The new EDI headquarters in Milan, Italy Posted: 01 Sep 2011 10:43 PM PDT Effetti Digitali Italiani (EDI), category leader in the sector of post production for cinema and television has just opened a new headquarters in Milan, Italy. The tram of architects that worked at this project is composed of tiarstudio / Federico Florena, RMA / Roberto Murgia. The project was finished in 2010. The 7 meters high roof allows light to get through and to create a very nice atmosphere. The space, that was once a factory filled with metal machinery, is now made of three navels, each 35 meters long. From outside, it looks like a huge white box. In order to diversify this aspect, there are three new courtyards integrated into the design that add color and natural light.
Since it's a production space, the mechanical and technical elements are visible and not hidden in any way. This might be an option for private homes, but not for big companies like this one. This place looks like a huge workstation and it's a very interesting to actually visit it and see the whole process by yourself. There are not a lot of places where employees can relax or have a coffee break so we can assume that they are all hardworking and don't like to waste any time. They still have those gardens where they can clear heir minds for a while.{found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to The new EDI headquarters in Milan, Italy |
Surprising home in the High Nevada Desert Posted: 01 Sep 2011 10:05 PM PDT Fabrizio Rondolino and Simona Ercolani are the proud owners of an amazing house in High Nevada Desert. Of course, like everybody else, you probably wonder why would someone want to live in the middle of nowhere, in the scorching desert. The reason is actually simple. The owners really like Death Valley. And there's also a strange detail about the moment when Simona Ercolani's father died and his last words were 'Zabriskie Point". They were visiting that area for quite some time so they've decided to just build a home there. You might think it's dangerous to live out there but since the climate is so excruciating hot, there are no rattlesnakes. Scorpions are probably less picky so those living there should probably be careful. However, there are also advantages. Since the desert seems so unfriendly, very few people choose to live there. So the neighbors are hard to find and this means there's more free space for those remaining.
The landscape is very beautiful and you forget about all the problems when you admire it. Still, it must be annoying to have to drive all the way to work from there or to school, not to mention that shopping is a big problem. You're basically in the middle of the desert and you're on your own. It doesn't get more private than that.{found on nytimes} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Surprising home in the High Nevada Desert |
Posted: 01 Sep 2011 07:33 PM PDT What is called “Snow Villa” can be found in Dinner Plain Village, Australia, 10 minutes from down hill skiing Mount Hotham. This residence is definitely the kind of house you fall in love with at first sight. Situated on the edge of an alpine reserve, the house provides spectacular views over a unique landscape, views that are drawn into the interior of the place through the fireplace made of local stone. If the surrounding environment ensures an unforgettable perspective, which can also be admired from the interior, thanks to the great glass panels, the inside is highlighted by the stonewalls that give the rustic character of the house. The shape of the construction is unique and attractive, the open-space being pleasant and cozy.
The bathroom is inviting thanks to the blue shades, the spa and the divan beside; it is everything you could want from a bathroom that looks more like a bedroom. Each room has something special, something modern, usually the furniture pieces and something traditional, the stonewalls being the elements that unite them. The kitchen furniture is modern in its blackness, the living room furniture is a combination of red and beige providing a happy mood, but the aspects that create the connection between the modern characteristics and the rustic ones are the decorative objects around the house. Every little thing contributes to the balance that ensures that cozy feeling so appreciated nowadays Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to A Cozy Home in Australia |
