So, when you move to another location, like this young couple did, you want to get there a piece of New York. The Strawns( Robin and her husband) moved from New York to Chicago. However, they loved so much their first location that they didn't want to let go so they searched for a place with similar characteristics until they finally decided to move in Bucktown. It's fun place to live in, with plenty of cafes, bars and an increasing number of upmarket shops, just like in New York. The couple decided to build their own house. They started the project in early 2008 and just one year and a half later everything was ready. The interior design was created by Robin, with her creative and imaginative mind. She was inspired by some books she found in a bookstore in Chicago and used those ideas as inspiration for their own house.
The bottom floor of the house includes the living room, dining room, the kitchen and Robin's office. As you can see, it's a large home. And that's not all. On the ground floor there's a guest suite, office, bathroom, the laundry, a large storage room, the children's playroom/ TV room, the children's gym, another gym, an office and the hallway. Uprtairs there's a guest bedroom, the master bedroom and the kids' bedrooms with their bathrooms, as well as a laundry room.{found on Vårt nya hem} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to A modern and fresh New York home in Chicago |

Single family homes around a Mediterranean garden Posted: 31 Aug 2011 11:47 PM PDT This literary unique house can be found in Via Exaudinos, 1/9, 97015 Modica, Italy and it's a project developed by Vivian Haddad and Marco Giunta. The house is actually not a single volume but a redevelopment of several small independent houses that ere found within the historical city center of Modica, Sicily. The houses are arranged in a circle around a Mediterranean garden. They are all single family homes. It's very refreshing to have a design that puts the garden in the heart of the house. Each room has an entrance from the garden as well as a private terrace. As you can see, this place looks really unique and that's mostly because of the materials that were used. A lot of attention has been given to this aspect. The architects working at this project chose to use natural, ecological and, more important than all, traditional materials from Sicily. They managed to create a combination of stone walls, lime plasters, cane roof, stone and polychrom tiled floors.
This house is a fantastic combination of old and new, two elements that you can't really distinguish. It's a perfect retreat for those who want to escape from the city and simply enjoy every second of their lives, admiring the landscape and enjoying the quiet atmosphere.{pics by Courtesy of Welcome Beyond and found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Single family homes around a Mediterranean garden |
