Posted: 30 Aug 2011 11:55 AM PDT It is very nice to have a meal outdoors, even if it is just a picnic or a barbecue. It is simple, but nice and you will enjoy it a great deal. But when you have dinner or lunch in the park or on the beach you lack the comfort of a steady table where to place all the dishes. However, somebody had this great idea of designing a special table for such events, so they created the Bamboo wine table. It is a small table for two, especially designed for outdoors, as it is pretty sharp on one end and you can push it in the ground until it is perfectly balanced. This table is made of bamboo, so it is very lightweight and you can carry it around easily. But there is one extra feature that makes this table really interesting and desirable: the two holes on the sides of the table that fit a wine glass perfectly. The wholes communicate with the exterior through a narrow opening, large enough for the glass foot. This is perfect for the evening meals on the grass or sand and you don’t have to worry that your wine glasses will spill by mistake. And the price is pretty good , too – $22. Moreover the existing structure was stripped back to the concrete structure in order to give it an industrial look. The spaces are fun and colorful, yet serious and sleek at the same time. Wonderful School Conversion in Boston Posted: 30 Aug 2011 07:03 AM PDT What was once a school is now an amazing condominium complex in Boston, Massachusetts. Designed by Touloukian Touloukian Inc. these gorgeous 16 residential loft-style condominiums are the perfect place to entertain family and friends. The historic restoration of the Lawrence School, built in 1856, gives you a great opportunity to enjoy an eclectic design that combines both traditional and modern elements. The architects also brought a little of the industrial look with the uncovered ductwork that crossed the ceiling.
They chose to keep some of the old elements of the building and highlight its qualities by leaving exposed brick in the interior and using tall windows that bathe the house in natural light and allow breathtaking views as well. Moreover the apartments have an open floor design that makes the place feel bigger and more airy. Amongst their many great features these spaces now have modern kitchens and bathrooms, new hardwood floors, painted steel decks and new elevator access. You can also see a neutral color palette which gives the space a soft, light feel, the furnishings being set off by the dark tones of the wood and brick. The B Street Lofts are beautiful and inspiring places to raise your family. The architects re-used the building in a great way and found a way to give you something back. Remodeled Lincoln Park Residence by SPACE Architecture + Planning Posted: 30 Aug 2011 05:40 AM PDT This beautiful residence has been sitting on the market for several years until the current owners decided to turn it into their own home. They were looking for a spacious house that had plenty of room for their 4 kids. So they found this beautiful place built by SPACE Architecture + Planning. They immediately loved it and decided that was going to be their family home. The residence is located in Chicago, Illinois, USA and it's a recent building that dates back to 2010. The new owners really liked the house but they still felt it needed a little more space. So they've decided to build an additional space to the rear of the house, creating a versatile space that could be used as a family room, kitchen, mudroom and breakfast area. They were also able to add a deck at the second floor, near the home office.
The second floor needed some rearrangements and the master suite was redesigned to offer more space and to create a quiet and peaceful area. The third floor now belongs to the kids. They also got a new sport court. The house also feature a 4 car garage and that provides plenty of safe space for the kids to use. This generous house only needed a little attention and some loving owners. And after redecorating and redesigning the interior, it became the perfect family home.{found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Remodeled Lincoln Park Residence by SPACE Architecture + Planning |
A Modern and Fresh Apartment of 50 m ² Posted: 30 Aug 2011 05:00 AM PDT Can a 50 m ² floor change your mood and transmit optimism? It definitely can! Would you think that some shades of green and fuchsia could balance the walls of a house and complete the existing irregular spaces? The floor in the picture is the perfect example that it can happen. So, if you are in the same situation with the owners of this home and you have to measure your furniture pieces, do not worry, it is not as difficult as it seems. In spite of the reduced size of this space, there is a sensation of amplitude that CYC Construcciones in general and Begona Espinosa in particular succeeds to provide to this place.
The reform of the usable area proved to be a success with its division in two parts, the first including athe salon, living and kitchen and the second with bedroom and bathroom; only the terrace means other 50 m ², the appropriate place for spending time outdoors in a pleasant manner. The measured furniture pieces contribute to the optimization of space and give that unique impression of relief, while the choice of predominant white tones provides that feeling of amplitude. The neutral shades encountered in the wooden floor, the bathroom, the couch in the living room emphasize the warmth of the place and the green and fuchsia shades in the house represent the daring details of this young, cheerful and vital space that reveals optimism.{found on micasarevista} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to A Modern and Fresh Apartment of 50 m ² |

Grand attic loft in Prague by A1 Architects Posted: 30 Aug 2011 03:05 AM PDT This beautiful and unique attic loft is located in Prague, Czech Republic. It was designed by A1 Architects in a period of almost 2 years, between 2010 and 2011. The main idea was to design a "boundless" space. However, the private areas like the bedrooms, are separated. The rest of the house has different rooms connected to each other, resembling one single fluent space. As you get inside, there’s an entrance hall with dressing wardrobes . From there you get into the living space and then into the kitchen that are in fact one single area. There is a large dining table that can accommodate plenty of guests. The space then opens to the upper gallery, a space meant for guests.
So, as you can see, the whole loft is a very fluent space, with a uniform design and a fresh look. The idea was to eliminate the boundaries imposed by the walls and to create a large open space. The loft also has an interesting staircase that features a built-in fireplace and library. Usually the two don’t go very well together but in this case it might work. The railing is made of thin stainless steel net, so it’s both transparent and safe. Besides the continuous open space, the loft also features three bedrooms and a study room, along with some storage spaces and functional built-in furniture.{found on archdaily} Subscribe to Homedit's Feed to get constant updates of our Awesome Posts!© Homedit- Daily interior design ideas ! | Permalink to Grand attic loft in Prague by A1 Architects |
Summer House by Andrade Morettin Arquitetos Posted: 30 Aug 2011 02:34 AM PDT As you can imagin, living in a hot and dry area like northern coast of São Paulo is not easy. You need to adapt to the climate and the conditions and so does your home. Located in Itamambuca, São Paulo, Brazil, just a few meters away from the sea, this house was designed and built by Andrade Morettin Arquitetos. The main idea was to create a structure that would allow the users to enjoy the views and the surroundings and that would also protect them from the harsh sun and frequent rains, without obstructing the natural ventilation.
So the architects working at this project decided to create this structure. It's not a typical house, but more like a summer house. It was built using a lot of pre-fabricated materials that were simply mounted on the site. The roof is placed at a height of six meters and covers a surface of 18 by 18 meters. It's made of pre-fabricated timber structure with galvanized steel joints. The rest of the house is made of steel cladding with EPS filling. The house is a semi-opened space, with glass walls and panels of glass fiber mosquito screens with PVC coating that keep the insects out while still allowing the users to enjoy the views. It's a very light structure, definitely not the massive and compact design we usually see in the cities.
